Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Ugh. Prishe is the featured NPC for the alliance raids in 7.1. Literally one of my least favorite NPCs in FFXI, and she doesn't even have anything to do with the (presumed) story here lol. She's from a later expansion (CoP, 2nd expansion), what they've teased so far is from the base game and possibly the first expansion depending on how deep they go into Jeuno lore.

Wait. They are?

Fuck. I could've refrained from logging in even more.
They usually pause it whenever there's a decently sized Natural Disaster. The US had Helene and Milton tear through NC and Florida very recently and there's still people without food/water/power/etc.

You WILL speak with Wuk Lamat again.

Considering that the final boss of the first stage is almost definitely The Shadowlord, they're probably putting Prishe there to do Vanilla > Rise of The Zilart > Chains of Promathia.

Well you're in luck, because Yoshi has heard your feedback and taken it into consideration, according to this recent interview:

>"The other factor was Wuk Lamat. She’s a very complex character, and she even has a bit of a complex about herself. Unfortunately, we didn’t delve very far into the background of why she had those feelings, so it appeared as if she left a negative impression. We accept that feedback. I feel a little sorry that we weren’t able to properly depict her. We may have been able to make her more straightforward, so we’re pushing her in the forefront as this character. But again, we’re going to be reflecting that learning into [content patch 7.1] and onward, we’re hoping that we can show more of what makes Wuk Lamat so great, and I’m hoping that we can regain from there."

See the problem was that you just didn't understand why Wuk Lamat is actually an amazing, super deep and awesomesauce character, so they will be pushing her even MORE in the coming patch (and beyond), and they will continue to push her until you finally accept that Wuk Lamat is not only the best character in FFXIV, NOT ONLY the best character in any Final Fantasy ever made, but the greatest character ever written in the history of fiction!

The Wuk Lamat will continue until morale improves, chud.

I missed the initial announcement.

The more I hear about DT, and the game in general, being dominated by Wuk, the less and less thrilled I am about picking this game up again. Seriously, I'd like to get caught up on content, but... this whole expansion just feels like one massive mistake after another. Part of me does hope that Yoshi can somehow fix the story, but given what I've seen so far, I'm not holding my breath.

At the very least, ignoring the current story gives me an excuse to go back and finish up a lot of the older content; never did complete most of the side content like Bozja, nor did I end up unlocking most of the Hard dungeons, so that's something to work towards. Likewise, there's a number of raids that I never went through, like the full Pandaemonium arc, so that'll be something to look forward to. Might create myself a new character, just for fun.

This is basically where husband and I are at. We've been focusing on the older hard dungeons we haven't run yet, mixed with a bit of PVP and achievement hunting.

Even if they'd maintained EW levels of writing it would've been okay; Not as great, sure, but not the total disaster the game has become. It's frustrating to not be excited for new content in a game I enjoyed so greatly prior to DT. I dont get deeply into video games very often. ARR to EW was the first time in years I actually spent this much time in a single title. Now I don't know if I will bother to run 7.1 when it comes out. Maybe I'll just NG+ the story over again and enjoy the parts from back when it didn't suck.

Jesus Christ I am sorely tempted to unsub. I really hope this was a translation error. Yes, give me my rainbows.

The comparisons to Poochie were criticisms, Yoshi P, not a guide!

I feel like there's a different experience for people like us three who did the whole set (half on my part) in one go. I can only imagine how soul-sucking the experience would be if you had to do it all one patch at a time - I mean, it made me quit until DT. It's boring, but it's not insultingly boring if you're going to go through with it in a few sittings.
The worst this got was right after the Golbez trial when he just gets up and does what he was planning to do anyway. *tune in months from now!*

Ok this dude has to be retarded right? I get he's the hype man and whatever else but he could just *not* mention the fucking character and have the story go into another direction, you can hype something that isn't that fucking character.

Pretending that it is the most complex character ever and no, stalker child, it is you who didn't understand just how awesome of a character we're dealing with here is, quite frankly, downright insulting.

I'm not even bothering with 7.1.

I assume the way things are going he's going to announce that you'll play as Wuk Lamat in 7.2 onward.
I genuinely believe more than ever in my conspiracy theory that Wuk was intended to be the new main character, the new face of FFXIV, for the next 10 years (or until the game dies),, and they literally CAN'T afford to let her fail now as they likely invested so much into her, so much of the future expansion plans probably revolve around her (as they would keep forcing her in as the main character every single expansion), so much promotional art, merch, etc. Probably even planned to do trans-media (like FF15 did) with tons of outside media (comics, novels, spinoff games, even anime, all revolving around Wuk Lamat). She was supposed to be the perfect DEI-approved character, a "safe" protagonist that was meant to offend noone and appael to everyone, complete with a tranny VA. They'd even go as far as to replace Meteor with Wuk, it'd be Wuk who'd show up in Meteor's place in the future expansion cinematic trailers, and Meteor would either be off to the side in the cuck corner or not even IN the trailers.

This interview completely cemented this theory to me, seeing Yoshi admit he plans to double down on her and literally FORCE us to see how "great" she is. Even in spite of overwhelming negative feedback, countless players unsubscribing, tons of memes mocking her and the troon VA (who's been shown numerous times to be a complete and utter piece of shit and who repetaedly attacks the fanbase, even calling them racist for not liking a shitty song), he not only intends to double down on Wuk, but he's shown zero indication he doesn't plan to also keep the tranny VA around to voice his new DEI-approved pet character. This reeks of serious sunken cost investments on this character, so severe that they cannot afford for her to fail or everything they planned for the future of this game is in shambles.

Apparently giving a new character the majority of the dialogue in a 40-hour expac isn't enough to properly do her justice. They didn't "fail to properly depict" her complexity, every new character in Dawntrail has the emotional complexity of a five year old.

Yeah, I'd believe that as well, she's the replacement for Y'shtola so they can finally kill her off like they've been meaning to do for a while now.

I'm super torn on that tbh. Part of me wants a cohesive story. Part of me wants more glams and the Kam'lanaut hairstyle. At least it's not more Shantotto bullshit I guess. Never understood why she became the de facto mascot for XI.
