Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

They're pissed Noxious Gnash was turned into a buff. Those same people complain about Death's Design still being around on Reaper.

They did it to remove jank of the debuff but just like every time a change like this is made, people complain about the job being made easier to play because they don't have to deal with the artifical difficulty of managing a janky fucking debuff on whatever they're fighting.
Sounds like a good QoL change to me. But then again, I main Brd so anything where I don't have to manage a debuff makes me happy.

It's just wailing from Viper main sweats who want to sit there huffing copium while refusing to acknowledge that viper is just as braindead if not more braindead to play as the rest of the melee.

In fact Viper is EASIER to play than Monk. With monk, you have more buttons and if you press the wrong button in the combo, that's a big dps loss. Viper literally has the least amount of buttons in the game and their job is designed to railroad combos for you via the combo and skill change system. I can play Viper whilst missing half of my brain and still play it well.

Tbh, if a relatively easy debuff upkeep filters you then you deserve to be filtered. It takes 80 levels to even be able to play VPR. And with stuff like Noxious Fang or Death's Design, you can literally play without them ever being active. You will be doing less damage, but I don't think people who find debuff upkeep too hard are going to be running any content with an enrage (even then, you can get your ass carried through an extreme).

It seems weird to remove it because of job-simplification to me. If that slither of damage matters, then you're doing mechanics that are far more complex than "hit button refresh debuff".

It's not the damage that was the issue at least not for me. It was just the way it worked in conjunction with the way Viper works.

Noxious Gnash doesn't work like DD. As Reaper you can apply DD literally whenever, even mid combo, it wasn't an issue. With NG, you were forced into completing a railroad combo before you could apply it to the next thing you fought. During boss battles it's a non issue, but during trash pulls, if you don't have access to that one off GCD ability that just applied the debuff or if it was on cooldown, you had to just had to finish the rest of the combo before you could reapply the debuff. It was just really jank and made the job sort of awkward to play. They could've just removed it altogether instead of just turning it into a buff and I would've been fine. Hell, turn it into a seperate ability like DD and I would've been cool with it.

People are just making a bigger deal out of a small change which is typical of people who live on social media. First they complained that the job was too busy and hard to keep up with. Now it's too easy and they don't like it anymore.

I had some hopes for Solution 9 because it was interesting with the memory wipe stuff and how it could have played out. You could make a scary story about memory wiping akin to dementia
That whole element is so bizarre. In the story, it serves almost no point whatsoever and it gets brushed over as abruptly as it's introduced. It's one of those "hiroi thought it sounded cool, shoved it in, then forgot about it and moved on to the next one" things.

The entire point of it isn't to contemplate on "post death society," but rather to contrast with the Yok Huoy memorials. There's this "theme" in the story of "we'll remember you," which means absolutely fucking nothing and always comes off retarded - my only guess is that Hiroi thought it sounded "profound" because at the end of Shadowbringers, where you consign an entire civilization's memory to oblivion at the fucking bottom of the ocean, Selch asks you to remember they existed. It's this moment of existential angst and weakness that comes across as this poignant mixture of heartfelt and desperate... and so of course Wuk says some retarded shit like "don't worry sphene, we'll remember you, we'll carry that burden" and I already forgot the entire plot of the expansion
I was hoping that it would turn out that the real Sphene had long since been turned into a primal
Nono, you can't just involve ideas from the rest of the setting and story. This is Wuk's story, and we have to make sure everyone understands that the FUTURE of FF14 will not be bound by its past, and as such it won't feel any obligation to provide actually-interesting twists or dynamics.
Are people really upset over the viper changes?
I think it's more that "the class had effectively one thing to manage" and now it has zero.

Ultimately, it is more of a QoL change, but it exposes the really obvious flaw that class design has reached such a simple, barebones state that there's nothing to fuck up on half 90% of the classes in the game. You can play like the average DF DPS and still excel.

Cleared M1 finally, after 59 total wipes. Impressive how easy it was with a group of actual humans, and it wasn't even a clear party, but a "clones" practice one. Killed it in like 3 pulls. The love/hate this game can induce is fucking amazing.

Viper was easy to play regardless. My gripe with the debuff is nitpicky at most and not so egregious to completely drop the job over it. I still played it fine even with managing the debuff. Hell, I mained Monk for 10+ years where I had to manage a DoT that would fall off in 15 sec. So them changing it to where I have to press 1 less button doesn't seem like it's a big enough issue to quit the job altogether.

They made the change because people complained that it was too busy. I don't know how they would've fixed that. But more than that, I want to know what they meant when they said "too busy" because the change they made was very minimal and doesn't really effect the rotation all that much. I'm more baffled by why the change was made rather than it being made to begin with. When they made the announcement my jaw was on the floor that I couldn't believe people were complaining about a job so easy to play that a retarded chimpanzee could play it.

One of the main reasons I didn't like this expansion is because we're basically re-treading old ground. We already covered all this "entropy sucks, we'll do whatever to avoid it, but try to remember us when we inevitably fail anyway" shit in the last story arc. This expansion said nothing new, and the story pacing was garbage even until the last moments so not only we had nothing new, it was also a chore to go though it. And once again we had a teengirl who went full retard (yeah I know it's explained, but the very next moment Graha tells her it's retarded and she just ignores it, kinda like how Emet called out Hermes's BS about Meteion immediately and it was also just casually ignored) and became the final antagonist. I know the Japs are deathly afraid of little girls and they're a staple of their horror monsters, but for fuck's sake.

I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of people are botting in roulettes. I've never seen so much weird behavior from healers before. Like, glued to my ass at all times but the only heal they use is Cure?
Previously being in the "scene" for that kind of thing, the bots are smarter than the average 14 player by a country mile. The reason you can buy ultimate clears for like $5 is because botting has gotten to the point that the game is 100% solved for them and has been.
The game has a massive "casual botting" scene where people are tool assisted (PvP, Fishing, Crafting/Gathering and Gold Saucer are massive for this especially), and they still suck massive cock at the game. Watching people with perfect rotations and uptime flowing when i farmed the extremes was a big one, they'd easily tag 95th percentile +
....if they knew what a light group was. and didn't lick the pavement every two minutes.

Looking back at Sphene, I briefly had the theory that she was the big bad we would fight in the end. My theory though wasn't that she was an overwhelmed AI, but I thought maybe the reveal was that the Sphene we interact with was just her memories kept alive by a computer, and her real soul would be in the giant tower in Living Memory. I was hoping that it would turn out that the real Sphene had long since been turned into a primal, fueled by the strong faith her people had in her, and so she "tempered" her followers with the thingamajigs they wear on their heads and siphoned souls from every raid Zoraal Ja had done to keep the kingdom running.
I want to fight primals again. I don't care if I have to summon them myself. It feels like the echo is just a cheap exposition tool for the writing team now that nobody is summoning primals. Which beast trib--allied society--do I have to subjugate to get some cool weapons?

It would have just been nice for them to actually deliver on the original promise of an adventure where the stakes didn't turn into total reality death and the end of the universe. I was looking forward to a more chill expansion where we go around in fantasy Mexico and just chill.

I had no idea that people could bot actual fights. I always figured those sellers just had you either enter the fight and die/stay dead or there was character piloting

Probably most likely a mix of all of that.

I think buying runs has become far more common. The number of "legends" that I have seen who play like they've given control of their character to a toddler is staggering. Entire wipes caused by them, they're always the one being carried in the party and somehow they get out dpsed by even the worst player in the party.

I swear 90% of legends I see are paint eating retards. Even the ones who clear legitimately. They can clear the hardest content in the game but stepping aside 2 centimeters to not die in casual content is too hard for them.

I'm thinking about trying FFXIV, never played it before. Is it still any good? I heard mixed stuff about the newest expansion. I'm looking for a new MMO long term now that my previous MMO of choice has been suitably ruined by pajeet devs.

The gameplay in the latest expansion is perfectly good, great even. Almost all the complaints are story related. As a new player, the stretch between starting a character and reaching Heavensward can be a slog since jobs don't get a ton of buttons to play with before 50 anymore. But once you get past all the ARR content and reach Ishgard, it's a non issue.
