Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

It's sellable on the market board, so not too much of an issue tbh.

The price is high right now, my DC had it as 30 million, but that's just a supply issue with the way you get it being so new and so PF-unfriendly.
It's more or less that the price is only going to inflate further once people get everything they want from the raid and fewer and fewer people bother with it anymore.
I dunno if they're willing to go through doing it over and over just for a few million in profit. I don't see that it's worth the effort when there's loads more ways to make a ton of gil.
Personally I don't care for the hair, it's long so it's probably clip heavy anyway. I just find the concept of locking cosmetic hair behind difficult content just for people to make a profit from the MB stupid. Mounts and gear I can understand. You can show those off. Can't really show hair off imo.
Eh...it's not a big deal. I'm just being super autistic about it.

I really dislike the "It's only the first expansion in a new series!" / "It's world building!!" arguments I've been seing from apologists lately, mainly because what the fuck was built up here. Tural is an entire continent triple the size of Eorzea that's ruled by one monarch with basically no cultural differences between it's peoples that can't be resolved by eating tacos together or being nice and they all just agree to being subjugated by the strongest guy with the exception of one small tribe in the middle of nowhere that's angry because they hate eating bananas and want to eat tacos instead...? What is supposed to be built from this. Areas of Tural are cannonically larger than the entirety of La Noscea or Thanalan and I'm supposed to believe it's all just Big Chungus Wholesome 100 taco lovers through out the entire continent? No racists (based)? No murderers? No rapists? No primals? No slavery? What the fuck do the people of tural do all day, there's more conflict in the brume than their entire continent. Like HOLY SHIT.
Thanks for reading my blog.:)

I will say that I'm not a fan of how every job is basically restricted to a single weapon; I know there's a few exceptions, such as Warrior getting a few hammers, but would it kill the devs to allow people to use multiple weapon types per job? Like, give Paladin a katana; it would be thematically appropriate, for instance.
Honestly, besides glamming purposes would it even matter? Weapons don't deal different damage types besides an all encompassing physical or magical damage, green or blue weapons don't have special stats or on hit effects. They practically all provide the same numbers just for different stats. There's no reason to specialize with different weapons when there's no legendary Sneaky Hammer of Backstabbing for Ninjas out there or anything. I've been dipping into different MMOs for some variety and the itemization in FF14 is so ass compared to others I can see why they would not bother with it. They should, but DT, the fresh new start(tm), has proven that they're doing everything on auto pilot.
The lack of actual deep RPG crunch is slowly getting to me after all this time for no good reason.

Have you spoken with Wuk Lamat yet?

But more seriously, yeah, it is a major concern, especially considering the recent-ish history that led to Tural being unified.

You sort of have that teased with Bakool and Zoraal both bridling at the bit over 'peace' and Bakool wanting to make Mamool Jas Great Again and Zarool Ja wanting to be a warhawk, but the idea is largely discarded and tossed away.

A bit of internecine fighting within Tural, with those opting to support Zoraal Ja and those opting to support Trooncat could've made for some interesting developments. You'd have people arguing that peace doesn't work because it led to Gulool Ja Ja's death, while other would advocate for a 'better future.' Classic conflict and story that would've worked well.

Instead, that blip comes up. Everyone in Tural is of a singular hive mind and Zoraal shows up with an army of literal soulless robots that are devoid of personalities (because that would be too big of an ask, to incorporate some sort of stakes into the story.)

It's insane just how unfleshed out everything is. I don't think there's any instances of people being resentful towards the Alexandrians -- people are either 'aw darn' when it comes to loved ones lives basically disappearing and missing out on opportunities, or are so awestruck with how 'perfect' Alexandria is that they have no regrets or qualms about the friends and families they were cut off from. No resentment or anger from a hostile force that fucked up a large chunk of a peaceful kingdom and then attempted to conquer and massacre its people completely unprovoked.

Nope, everyone's cool with it.

Meanwhile, over in Shadowbringers, Alphinaud rescues the Norvrandt's Got Talent winner and some groupie and starts an international incident with Vauthry and the Exarch.

Conflict! It's important in storytelling.

Makes you appreciate the old lore that much more. No one was perfect

This could have actually been cool too earlier in if they leaned into the whole "scions supporting opposite candidates" thing more, Civil War style. Maybe develop some bad blood between our primary cast members that could create tension in later expansions, before ultimately setting up some reconciliation between said Scions just in time for the climax in the final chapter of the new story supposedly being set up.

But that'd be too much effort. Nah, just have everyone eat tacos and wax poetic about their new trooncat overlord.

While I'm not really a fan of the idea of inter-Scion conflict, because the Scions are mostly supposed to be sensible adults (with a couple of mature teens) and it's really the kind of thing you only do when you run out of ideas to play with the characters on their own merits, I think it could've worked with someone like Ishikawa helming it.

In particular, a fight within the Scions would've been great material for a Krile-focused story, since she's the warm-hearted empath who would be able to bring everyone together. Sadly there's no need for diplomacy anymore, because every disagreement can be fixed by eating tacos.

It's why I think this contest thing would've been the perfect plot device for inter-Scion conflict. If they're doing something with lowered stakes (ie, the fate of reality hangs in the balance is off the table) and are just doing a 'contest', yeah, you could see the friendly competition come out.

They're almost all egomaniac academics who think they're the smartest people in the room. Anyone who is top-tier in their profession gets into pissing matches all the time and this would be a fun way of handling it (especially since we've basically hit Status Quo Mode with the Scions in that none of them can die due to marketing reasons, until interest/sales flag and they need to kill one of them to boost sales/views.)

Tural is just some sad attempt at "Look at how amazing it would be if there were no imperialists trying to colonize the place" bullshit without any actual thought put into it other than native culture = pure and good.
I always find that angle really goofy. Gulool Ja Ja literally steamrolled the other cultural groups and tried to make a pan-cultural group that's only barely got roots. Its also colonizing other parts of the continent. I don't think its morally bad to do that but pretending its some sort've great hug-in that did it is stupid.

Edit: Almost as silly as how much effort they've put on trying to protect the buffalo equivalent in game.

Minor sperg but I would say only Y'shtola possibly fits that description at this point. Alphinaud started out as a dickhead fedora-tipper but he's been the butt of the joke for like 4 expansions now, he hasn't really had an ego problem for a while. Alisaie and Thancred aren't exactly academics, Urianger and Krile aren't really competitive.
G'raha is probably as far from egomaniacal as you can get; imo the most interesting character development he's gotten since Shadowbringers is the scene in Ultima Thule where he basically tells the Omicron that after all his experiences, he doesn't really have a sense of self anymore.

I would be pretty negative if they started killing Scions off, not because I think we still need them around, but because after surviving the ultimate battle for the fate of the universe at the end of space and time only to kill them off against some evil Glup Shitto from one of the shards would just be fucking cheap.
I'd like it if they just split the Scions up like they said they were going to after Endwalker and go back to the pre-Shadowbringers approach where they're just support NPCs who occasionally show up. Have one or two scions show up as main companions in each expansion and fill in the other party slots with new characters. Dawntrail could easily have just been Krile, Erenville and Wuk Lamat as your main companions. Just make Erenville a healer-variant Beastmaster or something using the same animations as the upcoming limited job and that would fill all the necessary dungeon roles.

If you want conflict it'd make more sense if Koana had recruited the twins as his supporters, since they're all fellow Studium alumni. Alisaie would be looking to prove herself against the WoL and Alphinaud would say something like, "we should keep good relations with all the potential claimants for future Dawnservant" and go along with her.
I suggested earlier in the thread that an easy way to make the story more interesting would be if Gulool Ja Ja had died without naming the winner, leaving no clear heir for the throne. Maybe even Wuk Lamat's own awfulness could' contribute to the Scions butting heads; being the spoiled headstrong princess we're told she is, she makes some unpopular decision without consulting anyone, which causes Alisaie to lose her temper and refuse to support her despite Krile thinking she's still the best claimant for peace... or something. I have to believe the writers intentionally avoided any interesting story developments to end up with the slop we got.

I probably misspoke when I said "almost all academics" and I think type A personalities would've been more apt. Yes, they tend towards diplomacy, but there are little jabs and teasing comments made between them, and I think their competitive natures would come bubbling up if put in the right situation.

Something where they're directly in opposition to each other would be tonally off, but a 'harmless' competition would probably see the proverbial fur fly.

Bottom line, I think they blew a great narrative opportunity with the 'contest', regardless of what good directions they could've gone in.

I tried chaotic with two different groups and both times barely made it to phase 2.
Having trouble with enaero/endeath since by the time i realise which one is going off it already hit me and this is knowing the attack goes off after the second blade of darkness. Does't help that i will sometimes get doom from someone's else hand.

That aside, I'm someone who doesn't do extremes/savages yet I like this type of content. Biggest issue so far is finding enough people takes time.

Something I've personally had an opinion about is that the current level of content in DT is a bit hard for people new to MMO's, it also doesnt help that like every other game, only ever the latest DLC has anything going on for content.
I still have not been able to fill a EX Pool of Tribute Lvl Sync No Echo, because people JUST DONT do the content that is older. YES INCLUDING PF IN AETHER NOW!!!!
Isnt the free trials until StormBlood instead of HW now? Why THE FUCK ARE THERE NO PF'S FOR FUCKING STB EXTREMES? LMAO just gonna kidnap BK crowns in mentor Roulette into doing good content at this point before I quit due to lack of dopamine.
Really takes my enthusiasm away from the game if "you're not there when its there, you'll just never experience it" type shit really kills any interest I have in games.
Recently reached out to someone who USED to play my now dead FPS and the nigga was like LMAO, no. I wont do that, but you try to do it; no other feedback, MMO's just seem to not be my type of game...

Why are you so fixated on Pool of Tribute EX?

Why are you so fixated on Pool of Tribute EX?
Because the way my autism works and how I play my games I have a giant list of things I like and things I want to try out; and I go 1 by 1 and in the things that I WANT TO DO, Pool is simply next in line.

Not to be an asshole but It doesn't seem like the majority of the playerbase enjoys difficult content but I sure fucking do. I don't have fun otherwise.
Agreed.

Dude, just run it unsynched.
But I don't want it unsynched. It's not fun unsynched. I want it Min ILevel no Echo.

"We have disabled limit gauge generation while there are repeat jobs in the party in ultimates for balance purposes"

only ever the latest DLC has anything going on for content.
Go to Eureka, go to Bozja, run Deep Dungeons, run PVP, do something rather than being MATI and making it 7 other peoples' problem.

So I just casually came across the fact I can get my Crafter/Gatherer Burger King crown. I LITERALLY forgot that was a thing
it's useless outside of access to the novice network (lol) and giving you a 100% exp bonus while in a premade party with a sprout or returner and below level 90
