Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Finally dipped my toes into Cosmic Exploration.
It's not so bad. It's basically instanced levequests with a dash of Ishgard Restoration tossed in.
I like just mellowing out while contributing to something bigger.
 
I really hate the interface for Cosmic Exploration. I'm guessing it is better on controller but man is it annoying to have no keyboard shortcuts.

The only real complaints I have is the grindy nature of the research. You're expected to grind out hundreds of points while you can only get under a hundred points per completed mission WITH gold rating. Mech ops are also not worth doing unless you're a pilot. It's 1k credits for a pass to be a pilot and you get very few credits per mission. So you have to grind a lot just to be a pilot.
I'm also really annoyed that I grinded for a pass and it was basically taken from me because there is nothing telling you that if you're already in the middle of a mission and you complete it after applying, that your application is basically forcefully withdrawn and they don't give you your pass back despite it saying that you're supposed to have it refunded if you don't board on time after applying or if you're not selected (which is impossible for me not to be selected because I'm in Maduin which is basically dead).

So 1k credits I spent probably over an hour grinding for down the drain in seconds.

As you work higher you'll get better point rewards. I've been reliably hitting 400-500 pts on crafts (although holy shit pray you have a backlog of shit to watch going because it is tedium.)

Are you positive you lost the pass? Double check with the guy who issues them and see if you still have it.

Also 1K credits is nothing. Just do your daily stellar missions or whatever they're called and you get 1K, and hop over whenever a Red Alert pops up.

It also is laid out where your first tool is the slowest to get. You've got no bonuses to research, no bonuses to credits unless you use the underleveled tool. You can still get the fat payouts from Red Alerts if you're around for one. As for Cosmic Credits you can also check the non-daily goals and see what you can get a payout for if you're really itching to get spins on the roulette or a specific item. From what I've seen most of the items have cratered in price so you might be able to scoop them up if you aren't wanting to farm for it.

Yeah, I double checked. It was taken from me when it forced me to withdraw.

I ended up doing a red alert but how am I supposed to know when they respawn? Is there a website or something?

The Hunt discord I'm on does Red Alerts as well. Maybe Faloop if you don't want to use discord?

You're on Maduin, right? There's a couple different linkshells there for people doing red alert. If you ask in one of the major towns they shouldn't be hard to get added to.
 
I managed to get the cosmo suit and vaccum mech in one session.
Now any more I earn will just be extra gold.

Any of you guys on the EU worlds and if so is there a KiwiEU FC? or am i doomed to stalk Spriggan not being to do any extreme's because I don't know any fights and can't practice them.

There's only kindasorta a kiwi CWLS but that's on Aether. You should be able to do extremes using party finder, just look for the parties tagged [Practice]

Main issue with that is on Spriggan is at the most active of times the party finder has at most 12 parties, 7 of which are weird nightclub advertising, 3 are in random languages and the last 2 are trial parties that aren't tagged practice.

I'm just gonna have to risk duty finder.

You're probably going to have to jump on over to the Light datacenter to do anything that isn't daily roulettes. Chaos party finder is dead as fuck for the most part. Sucks, but that's the way EU is going to be until they implement cross-dc partyfinder (in 5 fucking years) :)

Cosmic Exploration is fucking miserable as gatherer.
Enjoy having to grind hundreds of points whilst getting only 20-30 on gold star rating per mission on randomly generated missions.
Doing A rank missions is pointless unless you're fully overmelded bis, otherwise trying to do them won't net you gold star rating which gives you less points than getting gold star on B rank missions.
You can't use mounts and the gathering points are spread ludicrously apart because it's designed to waste time for artificial difficulty in addition to making you run around all over the fucking map to do missions that get you more points. Missions do not refill your GP so if you want a shot at getting a better rating you have to sit around and wait for your GP to refill.
If you're alone in an instance, mech ops is only worth doing if you're a pilot. If there are no pilots and you try to complete it as ground support, congrats, you're doomed to fail because the bar only goes up significantly when there's a pilot helping you.
Red alerts are random and each one requires a different combo of gatherer and crafter so if one spawns and it's not the one you're currently working on, well lol, tough luck. Sucks to suck. Time to work on everything else.

I'm only on version 7 of my hatchet and I already want to fucking kill myself. And I have to do this 2 more times for my miner and fisher, holy fucking grim.
I would like to take the person who designed this into a backroom and beat them with a blunt object.

Well, yeah, you need to have decent gear to do current content.

Work on the crafter jobs first til you get the 150% research bonus.

Save Gatherers for Red Alerts. You only have to farm III research and the B missions aren't that bad. Swap to a crafter job until your GP refills.

It's not a great gameplay loop, which is why I've been breaking it up in chunks or just waiting til a Red Alert notification pops up.

I still maintain that the interface is trash and annoying as fuck, though.
