I've been a bit lazy with posting clips lately, so teach a man how to fish etc.
I'm using a lightweight screen recorder that I start running whenever something interesting might happen, if nothing worth clipping happens, I can simply abort and never have it save.
How I usually record. I play video games or browse on my second monitor.

1. Download ShareX (free, open source)
2. Go to Task Settings > Screen recorder > Screen recording options and select audio source as "virtual audio capture"

3. (optional) Go to Hotkey settings and add custom ones. I recommend an easy 'Capture last region' key, that way you don't need to select a new region and can keep consistent window recording sizes.

4. Edit the clip with a video editor of your choice. Webm is size efficient, cutting resolution in half is an efficient way to reduce file size for larger clips. I like Shotcut (also free and open source), it also has a built in mode to export into animated webp so you can make beuatiful things like this:
