I don’t understand how they haven’t come to the conclusion to just leave shit like this alone. Give them the competitions, and stop trying to dictate everything these people do. It doesn’t feel natural and starts to feel forced.
I think it was a yt video where I heard someone thinking that the format had a possibility of veering into WWE territory, with the producers not being able to resist the urge to steer the content.
Imo, that would definitely be the death of the show. Just look at how awful WWE became once they went public, becoming accountable to a board that only wants to see $-line go up, a la the paypiggies. When it was just a bunch of gifted lunatics bouncing off of each other (creatively and physically), it was one of the best things on TV. Most of the best moments in wrestling occured naturally, while some of the worst were micromanaged into existence.
I think deciding to do this at the same time as MDE2 was a bad idea. Granted, he's surely trusting Jet with the day to day operations, and he definitely needs to stay the fuck away from twitter when gauging what makes this show entertaining, but he just needs to either trust Jet (thats asking a fucking lot, I really like Jet, but he hasn't proven himself a whole lot regarding content creation***), or get the directing out of his system while working on MDE2 during the day, and just do the job of a lead manager and make sure the crew has what they need to make shit happen.
addend*** - Jet had to be the catalyst for sam embracing streaming more (which he is godawful at, but I still will listen for background noise), and his zillow show with Rochefort was doing great at one point (not sure if it still is, haven't paid attention).
I think his best contribution creatively would've been with the nft project (don't know how well that did either, but I've heard it made sam money, I hope that's not a trend), as even Sam would praise his work on the cards on stream and I hope I can find the clip where he does. Jet looks like a kid at Christmas, cheering ear to ear with a gleam in his eye cuz his daddy said, "I'm proud of you, my son."
Unfortunately, he's also tasked with the zoomer wigger crew (Ben's at least a competent in-front-of-camera guy), so I feel for him there.
