For a 25 year old with zero experience in the weird experimental reality show thing they were doing he did great. The sheer amount of hours he had to put in is mind numbing to think about. He basically was on call 24 hours a day for like 6 weeks straight.

There's some moments that were handled poorly, that experience would have resolved, but as a proof of concept or a pilot it was really well executed.

I'll be a lot less forgiving next season if he hasn't figured out a way to not overburden "vibrant" contestants. I dunno why I'm banging that drum over and over, but it just seems like they will definitely fix stuff like how TTS couldn't be paused or doxing the set using local brands of pizza. Lots of the big complaints you might make about what Jet fucked up would be easy fixes for S2 and would've been obvious in retrospect but not the first time around.

Anyway... to continue my ramble again...It might be more obvious to kick out people who are gullible and harass contestants who don't look at you like a dairy cow when you bother them, but FT people aren't like the faggot theater major contestants on Big Brother and more work has to be done to preserve the personality menagerie.

Sam and Damiel did standup in Woonsocket last night, on one of the used WP2 sets.

Sorry for the shit quality of this capture, Damiel started the live pretending to be asleep and I figured it was going to be nothing worth recording and then he whipped out his laptop and kinda lost his shit for a bit.

I don't know why it's coming as a surprise to any of them but they had a solid month where people were still detoxing from Fishtank Live and might've checked out whatever they were doing. And, if Damiel intentionally spent all of June on the down-low, like he did, because he had something lined up already and didn't need the attention, or if he was just going back to cooking, I would not judge. But as I've been saying, he literally only seemed to notice that time was slipping away when he lost his apartment with Autumn and now suddenly it's "why am I only famous when sam is involved?!?!? brehhh my engagement???"

To me the post-tank success race positions right now are:

2. Sylvia (released her album, completed a tour, even if it was rough going)
3. Vance (no path to release his album, only fish whose streaming audience has begun to grow again)

Tired of the revisionism for the wiggers in this thread. I understand being forgiving because it was a new project, but ben was the only one of them praised during season one for his stories. All my good will was burned by the technical problems at the start. All the credit jet receives, outside his friends on twittter, is retrospective bias because sam majorly stepped in at the end of the show to salvage it. I give jet some thanks for holding things together but all his isolated creative decisions were awful. Sam's improv ending was hyped because he realized the show needed an actual storyline and conclusion. The fake contract rant on streaming culture turned it from a wigger production into something actually MDE.

All you have to do is look at the night with brendan buckingham and fatty and the prostitute. Jet's idea of a good setup was to jam the house with as many e celebs and guests as possible and take away all attention from the fish. That period was the height of "jet neptune's e-friend simulator" and sam was visibly annoyed that night. It was right after that he started getting involved again as the show moved towards the final challenge. I remember when everyone thought the last challenges would be torture letty for a week because people on twitter hate her then give it over to a boring josie vance nothingburger end. Unless the first fake ending was totally jet and the wiggers idea, I can't name one good idea they had that had a real payoff or consequences. Anything to do with THE ENTITY was botched, ella left after two days, betty is still a problem on twitter, and everyone forgets emplemon and turkey tom's pointless appearances. The middle of the show was full of filler and people need to remember how boring the camping arc was outside the highlights. Also negative points for constantly inserting damiel.

I don't know who got alex stein, but he was probably the only freeloader who helped the remaining fish develop as characters. Vance/Lance was funny, but I don't feel like it inspired any development beside sam trolling lance about a spot on WP2. Tai felt more like an actual contestant than a freeloader most of the time and I only remember the "I bwoke fwish tank" rants. He can rap for a viet tho. Frank hassle and fatty were obstacles to be overcome for letty and they're impact on the others was negligible. Josie ignored frank, vance beta mumbled about the vancepill, and the only non-letty highlight was the sylvia and frank argument in the kitchen.

I still think sam was pretty icy towards jet by the end of the show. He gushed more about letty's ability to play a character than anything jet or the wiggers did creatively. This could change if we find out the crew was more active in giving letty ideas than I think, but I don't expect the actual released doc will show us much new and will probably try to minimize all the embarrassing stuff.

That was definitely the worst night of the show. I literally had to take a break because at this point Letty seemed like the only justifiable winner and the sound of everyone screaming over each other while she showered for a third time was giving me a migraine.

I can forgive them about the entity because I'm pretty sure that was a throwaway line Sam said originally which they didn't intend to develop, but Vance built on the next day by saying he saw it in the hall.
There was no way they were going to succeed in convincing the fish that the house was haunted. Letty acted superstitious but that has its limits. I think they just teased the entity too much knowing there was no possible way to execute it properly.
If I was Jet trying to hardcore push the entity, the most I could imagine developing the idea would have been to lock all the fish in B4 for three hours while building out a haunted house or something. But imagine if that flopped. Ick.

Vance/Lance was funny, but I don't feel like it inspired any development

He definitely got Vance to change in some important ways but Vance is a very flat kinda guy so they weren't obvious changes if you weren't staring at him a lot. Like two days after Lance left Vance got in another one of those 1:1 sessions where one of the girls was venting at him, where before he would have just said "yea, yea, yea" and instead was visibly catching himself mid-yeah and actually offering his thoughts and advice. Which is kinda huge considering how bad he was with that before. I bet he's still not doing that anymore, irl.
Vance was already rushing headfirst into a wall with his homesickness and Lance made it so much worse for him cuz he was desperate to go mope alone in his room and Lance was always there.
Also I think his narrative appeal was he kinda foreshadowed Frank. He sped the treadmill up just a touch by fucking with everyone without being rude and without giving away how bad it could get.

Jet did his best, I would give him a B and he got carried to an A or an A+ on the good fortune of the casting as well as the lucky things that happened to make the show's biggest moments, like the TTS lying about Damiel's shoes or Chris falling down the stairs. If they got really unlucky in Season 2 it could have easily been completely unmemorable. I think that's just inherent risk in reality shows, though, and Jet can only force it to make content so far before it becomes unnatural, like the gang war day or mother's day.


Unrelated: After Damiel's "why am I not getting any engagement" from this afternoon he titled an Instagram Live saying his mom fucking died and got 144 live views and is now pretending to be furious at everything anyone says. People are stupid.
