Whatever happens, Season 4 will have its own iconic aesthetic like all the past seasons. There will also be Trve Neptvnian Kino, crashouts and the infamous late season content slump when the fish become nontent and Production runs out of ideas. Viewers will uncover crazy shit about at least a couple of contestants and TTS will troll them for it. Burt, Alex B, Jimmy and Summer were tough acts to follow in the crazy department but Production will probably strike gold again with at least one of the fish.

It will be so over for a few days before being so fucking back again and we'll get gaslit just as hard as the fish/freeloaders.

That's Fishtank for ya.

I think the house/set being so interesting in S2 is the main reason I have any nostalgia for it. If they had made half an attempt to decorate and design for S1 (understandable bc new project) or S3 (big ugly boring house) I would have a similar feeling. It seems like such a small thing but anytime I see shots or clips of S2 that is what stands out most to me. Then I remember all the cringe fucking yapping and bullshit cast from S2, but in still images I'm fond of it.

S2 was ambitious i'll give them that. Sadly I was a Coletard so my hype was quickly dashed against the rocks. Summer should've stayed I go back to the clip of her running around looking for a lighter then immediately vomiting. My one request is to bring jobe back every season

Even if you think season two was the best season, and that’s a big if, it wasn’t because the fish were fans. Good parts of a season are defined by solid fish and dynamics. The ability for fish to bounce off of each other and react. Cole wasn’t good because he was a fan, it was because he was a narcissistic autist who had a warped view of the world and a main character complex. Jimmy wasn’t good because he was a fan, it was because he was a literal retard man child.

Remove both and whoops, you just got rid of your main content drivers and the show is in a major slump. TJ and Tayleigh could have been the biggest fishtank fans to exist, but they never would have been able to pull that season from the depths it reached. I just don’t see any reason for a fan to be on the show. Many of the best fish haven’t been fans. Fans seem to falter in the moment by hyping themselves up then failing to perform due to on—the-show-nerves. The closest sample pool of fans we got was stream stars, and it was mostly try hard diet Jimmy’s.

The S1 house being blank is fun because of how apparent the decay was as the show went on. You can see a screenshot of most rooms and have a rough idea of how far into the season it was based on the state of things. You can do this for any room, it's great.

Did you know that Jet has a sister whose existence has been pretty closely guarded in a sense that Jet never talks a about her? Well, apparently she just had her birthday in the S3 house which somehow got leaked and now we all know that there is another Neptune, first name Jupiter (seriously Johnny, what's with the planets).

So I did the only sensible thing and scraped her entire Instagram existence:
Live profile: https://www.instagram.com/jupatroopa/
Raw JSON IG dump of the entire profile with likes, comments, everything; https://jsonblob.com/1374784899919306752
All the pictures from her IG extracted from the JSON: https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=kZIWVtZR52tWgxHxCLeKiaDpdqQGXYELW9k

I haven't dug deeper than her IG yet and her name makes it somewhat difficult, but apparently she's been doing pretty well in life by graduating from The University of Georgia (class of '24) even though she grew up in foster care for some unknown reason. Now the only thing left to do is for Burt to hit that just to get one over Unibrow for scamming him out of 50k (yeah, I know it was Sam who gambled the money away, no need to argue about that aspect).

It is possible for there to be a middle ground between:
1. Having a cast (almost) entirely comprised of cringe fishtank fans who desperately want to be on the show
2. Having a cast (almost) entirely comprised of completely unaware normies who have been tricked into thinking they're on an edited Hulu series

A big problem with Jet, and even Sam, is that they like to throw the baby out with the bathwater. They knowingly cast all fans for season 2 and then got upset that the full house was making MDE references and chanting "think it dream it do it" on week 1. During season 3 Sam said morale had never been lower in the basement when that happened in early season 2, and they had no idea what to do with the season. They overcorrected and tried to do a giant gaslight for season 3, then rugpulled all of them hard with the fishtank reveal going directly into the cell which understandably made a few leave. Now they're blaming the failures of season 3 on the cast and overcorrecting AGAIN by saying "fishtank fans belong in the fishtank house". I'll remind you that the only true fishtank fan from the s3 cast was Ted, widely considered to be the worst fish of all time.

When Jet and Sam reflect on what went wrong in a season they almost always come to the conclusion that it's the cast's fault, and then they overcorrect and do something stupid.

They could make it interesting. It doesn't have to be all thematic, lighting can carry a lot of weight in a shot without having some over the top theme. That'd require rigging up specialized lighting and controls though. Personally didn't mind House 3, think it's cool as a stage but it's a bitch with audio which was my main complaint. But they always struggle with audio.

Looking back on S3, its insane the pivot that show took, talk about ripping defeat from the jaws of victory. I think the edited episodes will be funny the whole way through, but that shit was fucking horrible live. I think the problem with all FishTank viewers is most of them are try hards and unlikeable. Who were the viewers supposed to root for in S2?

Sam and Jet need to learn to let shit breathe too. Whenever there is a standout fish, they poke and prod until that fish says fuck it and leaves. Its almost like they cant accept that someone else is getting the attention, as if there is a joke they dont understand suddenly. They are either antagonizing the best fish or trying to placate them constantly.

Jimmy was the self insert so... Jimmy? I don't even care about rooting for anyone on the show, I want to laugh and see how people handle weird and awkward situations, like Ian's line being "nigger" of all things.
Sam and Jet need to learn to let shit breathe too.
Sam is an old dog so he can't learn new tricks but that's a negative recurring theme that ultimately hurts each season.

Season 2 was my least favorite personally, but if you look anywhere outside of this thread, it's pretty clear that it's the fan favorite.
Part of this is simply because Fishtank fans are retarded (S2 is proof of that). But to be fair, there were a lot of people who only started watching during season 2, who's only exposure to season 1 was through the episodes which are pretty terribly edited for the most part. Season three started out great, but had the worst ending, and that's what sticks in people's minds. Bloodgames was by far the most consistent and had the best execution of concept, but it isn't really fishtank, so it gets overlooked by some people.
My prediction is that s2 only appears to be so popular because the edits are still new and fresh, the last episode isn't even out yet. Once the s3 edits start coming out you'll have people changing their minds and talking about how s3 was the best season and s4 was the worst season yadda yadda. Jet will make another announcement that s5 will be "normies" because he learned that s4 was fun but too cringe to be enjoyable or something. The cycle will continue forever.

or trying to be buddy buddy with Sam. There needs to be some more distance between the contestants and production somehow.
This is one of my big problems with Fishtank, especially in s2. Production and Sam usually just wants to hang out with the fish all the time and they don't always treat them like contestants in a challenge they are operating. It just ruins the point of the show to see a bunch of MDE fans hanging out with Sam, Jet, and Ben. You would think the wiggers could wait until the season's complete to start being buddy buddy with them or at least keep it in the basement. This is another reason why I think it's important for Jet to stay in the basement and only really interact with the fish in the basement so he can actually be perceived with authority and professionalism by the fish as opposed to the fish just thinking Jet a retarded gay faggot with a unibrow.

A couple weeks ago AB was talking in the fishtank.live chat about Cole being kicked and since she's seen footage while editing that we didn't see she has more information. It seems like he was "kicked" but it's his own fault so he might as well have left on his own.

Good point. I think Jet liked this best and thats why S4 will be more of the same. Around normies, Jet has zero anything. Hes not seen as an authority figure and not believed to be in charge, even after the reveal.

I think Fish Tank is a great concept, and is something Im looking forward to once again, but I just feel its in the wrong hands. They dont have the integrity or discipline to implement their ideas. As soon as they believe the perception of the content has shifted, they immediately try to course correct.

Im not a huge fan of MDE content, though I like some of the World Peace sketches. But when I saw the video of Hyde explaining his ideas for the iDubbbz doc, I was in stitches. These were legitimately funny bits he had planned. And then you look at his execution, and its a huge let down. He also has a problem where he wants to be seen as cool and will pull back the curtain on a bit when its not necessary just to let everybody know hes not actually gay and retarded.

Im a huge fan of On Cinema, its Heidecker project that hes been doing for well over a decade now. Every year they do this "Oscar Special", which is their live show finale to their season. One thing that surprised me was how many people were apart of the project, set designers, producers, writers, actors, make up artists, and the list goes on and on and on. And you know what? All of these people are professionals that are paid. Nobody is working for free or because they are a friend of Tim. Heidecker is the star, or one of them, and the show has his fingerprint on it, but it works as well as it does because of the professionals that surround him. Sure, there is less money to be made, but the vision is executed everytime.

Hyde employs a group of wiggers and hanger ons that are happy to do things for free just to be around him.

Are people only now finding out about Jupiter? I've known of her since season 1. She's not exactly a secret, she's just generally uninvolved in her brother's work.

AB has been hostile to Cole from the start and hated people liked him so much. Now they are buddy buddy with the people who fucked up season 2 and defending their actions. No surprise at all. Cole called out production for being shit and got kicked. Turns out he was right and the season was a total shitshow after he left.
