With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

    Votes: 56 7.3%
  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 87 11.4%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 170 22.2%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

    Votes: 405 52.9%

When they brought Bashir back I thought it was a bad move and stand by that. However it's not that I don't like rigging, I just think it's retarded to be so blatant and make the contestants think nothing matters. They need to do light rigging to ensure matchups like Twins vs James Drake don't happen. Challenges with subjective judging like "Who can act most retarded" or "Who can imitate other housemates the best". Or just a fair challenge the fish that need to go are likely to lose. Ideally it wouldn't be necessary, but in this case it was. I want to see fish like Brian, Alex B, Rachel or Vicky in genuine distress, not the wholesome chungus autists. Not to say don't torture them like the rest, but when they're down to the final two and there's no game to it, it just sucks. Sticking them in the goo pit with Drake was just bad TV. Any other matchup between the final four would've been better for that.

Giving elimination powers to the fish was a awful idea. Emma taking out Bash was a worst case scenario for them and while I do disagree with how they handled it I get it. The first couple weeks should just be waiting for people to drop naturally. Once you go a few days without losing a fish, that's when you start doing eliminations.

I liked the jobs a lot, it's good idea, and I hope the wiggers don't drop it. The markets also a good idea and the computer lab could work. I didn't really understand why they axed it completely instead of limiting it to just enslave. It could've been good if they were better at managing the house economy so that fish would be forced to take shifts there. More bloodgames-esque elements would be good. Like a night trader that the fish only find out about if they're in the market at the time or just have random sidequests for fish to do (pretty much what jobs are).

This is a minor issue, but it's never made sense to me: Polls should be free, one vote per person. I seriously cannot imagine how fucking retarded you have to be to give them money to vote in a poll that rarely even means anything. It actually pisses me off to think there are nigger cattle like that walking among us and they're effecting some aspects of my fishtank. It's like having a maximum IQ requirement to vote. The season pass doesn't really make sense to me either. 10 dollars for the month the shows on makes sense, but it seems like Jet actually thinks people are going to burn ten dollars a month when nothing is happening. I guess we'll see what happens with the van.

They did an alright job at not getting pissy at fish this season. I don't want to harp on them too hard on account of that, but I still just never understand when there's any level of real frustration at actual retards doing actual retard things. Landon was entertaining because he's so fucked up that sleeping in a super friend bed made him crash out. The type of guy who doesn't topple over things so minor isn't Landon and would have been a worse fish.

One thing I wonder is how good this season would have been with the indian instead of twins. Landon and Twins were the soul of the season. I liked Drake and hated Bashir less by the end, but I don't think they could have carried the content by themselves. This season without Landon/Twins would have just been s2 over again (The worst season btw). It feels like they take a huge gamble every single time on the types of autists they're going to roll.

The house needs to be a destructible environment. I don't know the logistics of making that happen, but it seems inevitable that the house is destroyed.

Very specific criticism probably not relevant to future seasons, but they should have nipped Bashirs scheming in the bud whenever they started trying to kill friendtank. I hated listening to the muzzie negotiate when they were supposed to all be at war.

Overall still my favorite season, but I hated the ending.

My wish for next season is that it's all freeloaders as fish. Pluses being that we get familiar faces we like and that aren't quitters. Also I'd like to see people like Dumbgay or Laura actually have to compete for real. Bashir was right when he mocked her and Binx for sucking shit at challenges. I also just want to see more Blane.

I just realised. If Drake is willing to shit/pee his pants in front of a camera and several people, shave his head on a whim and choke two small autistic girls until they almost pass out for 50k, I can only imagine the kind of shit he's currently doing if there's 100k on the line either in his business or personal affairs.

Maybe he is not a normie after all and he does have a disability, he's a fucking pyscopath.

That's something else I haven't seen mentioned much, the way some people are talking about it you'd think he had a demented smile the whole wrestling match when in reality he looked like he was about to beg them to tap just so he could stop.
Everything that transpired just made jet look infinitely slimier by the second. And not in the fun goo way. Not even the goop way.

This was my first season of Fishtank so maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it seems like Jet and Ben don't have what it takes to lead this show. Failed gimmicks aside, they just seemed to have a very poor understanding of the house social dynamics, and when they'd respond to recent events it would often be a good 1-2 days late. Having the goo be used for wrestling is baffling, and the fact this plan must have been in place for 4+ days yet no one in production veto'd it and frantically searched for a substitute tells you all you need to know. This season will be remembered for its horrible ending, but it deserves lots of credit for being entertaining throughout, and that was down to the fish. They took what should have been a 3/10 season and turned it into a solid 6

That would have been kino but it isn't what happened. Drake just looked uncomfortable the whole time.
I think that's the worst part. It wasn't as evil on James Drake's part as it was for Jet. James was doing what he had to.

Even at the end. "Production made me do it"

This thread is kind of slow today so here are my thoughts:
Thanks to the threadposters and the sneedchatters, including all haters and losers. You significantly enhance the fishtank experience and without you it wouldn't be the same. I think it was during a MATI stream at the beginning of season 4 that null compared the "fishtank people" to migratory birds. I think about that sometimes and giggle.

Man I just keep cracking up thinking about that room silently stunned in horror with burt just going ballistic. After growing tired of his nasty sex pest shit on the off-season I've come back around on him again. He is a net positive to the show as an absolutely insane example of humanity.
Burt is a one of a kind specimen, I hope they never lose his number. Truly the GOAT fish.

Wrestling has/was supposed to be in the finale of every show so it was probably the plan since they created the goo room. Letty/Josie's final challenge was mud wrestling in a half inflated kiddie pool. TJ/Shinji was supposed to be wrestling but they changed it at the last minute to boxing for some reason.

it should have been a goo turf war because they had enough colors of goo to count how much goo was on top of the other goo. It'd be fun!

I take it back, this season was redeemed by the seething the last few hours (that Im sure will continue for the foreseeable future) in this thread.

Seeing the coddled uwu autismo baby twins actually have to compete and fail was great. Now they can go home and doodle for an audience of 100 people and I dont have to see them again lmao
