My favourite current day national flag is Angola. Very good color scheme and the machete is badass.

Favourite historical flag is the abbasid black standard. ISIS raped it hard by scribbling some arabic comic sans over it.

Out of all Africa's flags, Angola's is the one I like the most

Good colour combo and a symbol that borders on overdesigned but manages to not be too gaudy....unlike fuckin Mozambique whose flag is as much a crime against humanity as any niggerland genocide

Mozambique: guns, hoes, and knowledge. What a chad flag. Much more so than the Chad flag, which looks like someone pissed on a french flag.

Honorable mention to the city of Surabaya, whose flag features two apex predators about to get into a street fight.

Technically not a flag but a seal. It is cool though.

The Palau flag has certain appeal, pretty colours, something people all over the world recognise...

...and so adaptable, because who doesn't like things coming out of holes?

If they knew what would happen to their country 100 years later, the fighters of the Boer War would shake hands and work together in an instant.
Their mistake was in conceding to the Eternal Anglo's plan to federate the Cape Colony, Natal, Free State, and Transvaal into the Union of South Africa, which had the effect of stripping the Bantu population of their nominal tribal nationhood and making them into citizen-subjects of the Union of South Africa.

The Virginia state flag is pretty based, it's literally a semi-topless Minerva standing atop the defeated corpse of tyranny.

I'm also a fan of the Italian tricolor, the Roman SPQR banner, and the various Byzantine banners.

The Russian tricolor is alright, but I do prefer the version that the Tsar's army had, which also had the double-headed eagle of the Romanov dynasty (a symbol borrowed from the Eastern Roman Empire)

Fun fact about the Cadillac logo, it was originally the fake heraldic crest of french pioneer/conman Antoine Laumet de la Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, founder of the city of Detroit. Long story short, his dad died owing a bunch of debts and Antoine went to America with french royalty's blessing to build a fortune instead of paying it back. He invented a backstory and his fake heraldic crest actually stood up under scrutiny to the experts of it back then. Became the governor of the Louisiana territory in the early 1700s when France was still a major presence in the new world before it was bought out.

the logo's gone through many redesigns under the auto manufacturer, the older stuff has blackbirds which are later edited to pips before just being dropped entirely. Also the horizontal striping drops from three to one in the NE/SW quadrants.
