Funny stuff, but I have a hard time seeing how these people are really any more fucked up than the other adults who are obsessed with a cartoon about talking horses aimed at little girls. Because it's perfectly healthy to be an active participant in the "pony fandom" but writing snuff fiction about retarded horses is just totally crossing the line or something. Yeah.

Every single adult who is into MLP is autistic. But at least the majority (I hope?) doesn't want to actually torture the ponies. A good portion apparently wants to marry them, or at least bang them, though. You could argue they are two sides of the same degenerate coin but I would still make a distinction between watching a shitty show aimed at little girls or fapping to dismembered retarded fluffy creatures.

There seems to be a good portion of fluffy artists and writers who hate the show/fandom and use fluffies to lash out at it. I think some of them just like violence and joined the booru because they accept that kind of thing, as well as shitty art.

I don't know. My gut tells me that a lot of this "fluffy" stuff is written either by trolls or spergs who are desperately trying (and failing) to master irony (autistic hipsters, if you will), whereas the "vanilla" MLP fandom is actually completely authentic for the most part, which if anything makes it creepier to me.

I don't really care that much about the Smurfs, so I'd be kinda meh on the whole thing. Still kinda weird to me though.
With Fluffies, they remind me of actual fuzzy little animals, so seeing this kind of thing actually disturbs me.

I'd like to preface this by saying I'm not a medical health professional nor do I claim to be. I'm not an authority. Everything I am about to say is from my own extensive personal experience living with mentally ill people and that's what I can offer here, nothing more. Nonetheless, I think there are some massive issues here with some of the stuff people have been bringing up in this thread, that we haven't done a very good job at addressing without diverging into personal attacks. It's totally fine to be disgusted or angry about this sort of thing but I'm going to need everyone to do it in an adult and civilized manner and remember that there are human beings on the other end of this shit.
That being said:
People who want to marry those kind of characters usually find difficulty forming close emotional attachments to regular people so they seek out something so harmless that it can never threaten them, so it's "safe" to them to become enamored with it and thus get those emotions out. This is waifu shit, basically. It's really depressing rabbit hole of escapism that usually results in a Wizard mentality.
"I want to fuck that" is generally similar; you'll see this if you watch enough To Catch a Predator. It's clear that a lot of those middle-aged men legitimately do want a romatic relationship with young kids because they can't find it anywhere else and they're emotionally and developmentally stuck at the same level as the kids they prey on so it seems natural to them. Of course there's also the ones who want to sexually abuse kids only to cause harm, to defile someone that can't defend themselves but they probably fall more into the category of "I want to torture that".
The "I want to torture that" people want to humiliate, torture and dehumanize things or people that they see as representations of innocence for whatever reason. This could be because that happened to them and they're re-living it, it could be because they want to feel that they have such immense power over another living thing as to cause it such immense pain, or any number of other reasons, NONE of them good or pretty.
ALL of these responses are seriously fucking negative indicators of mental health for the simple reason that these disgustingly saccharine "cutesy" creatures are iconic representations of childhood innocence. Hear me out before you dismiss this as moral panic or appealing to emotion, because that's not what this is. I long ago gave up on having a moral or emotional response to Internet fetishes.
These "fluffies" talk like kids, they have the developmental level of kids, most of what Curious Bystander said about them being "the worst of humanity" is true because children tend to appear simplistic, dumb, hedonistic and selfish when compared against adults. Of course, it's totally unreasonable to compare children to adults, but it's less unreasonable when instead of a kid it's a cartoon horse or whatever because it's easier to frame that as "It's just imaginary." But the core identifying feature - indeed the only identifying feature - of "fluffies", the "smurfs", or any of that shit is that they act like toddlers.
And that's fucked up. Not because these people want to literally torture toddlers in the real world, but because they have a desire to torture idealized, cartoonish anime representations of toddlers. Yes the act of creating "fluffy" stories is harmless in the most literal sense of the word but it's a symptom of mental illness, and mental illness itself is demonstrably not harmless.
These people have seriously dangerous, potentially criminal repressed antisocial behaviors, which some of them have sexualized, and they have created an entire subculture to normalize it. Anything you say will be dismissed as "you're taking it too seriously" or "it's not worth a thread" because in their minds they have strength in numbers and that proves it's OK.

I wouldn't say so. I have some friends who are bronies, some have autism, some don't. You could argue that everyone has some form of autism, be it mild or extreme. Autism is an umbrella term that unfortunately gets used as an insult.
