Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

I see Honda are learning the tricks with the loop holes. Nicely done.

I'm very much in an "anyone but Mercedes" mindset for the season, even before the BLM diversity sperging. It would be nice to see Vettel get his Ferrari championship, but yeah anyone other than Mercades please.

Interestingly the much shortened calendar makes mechanical reliability and drivers not crashing a lot more important as there are far less races to make up for the loss of the points. One retirement could screw your entire season.

So boys, less than 12 hours before we see the cars on track!! Ferrari already saying they won't be competitive. Could FI or McLaren give them a hassle for 3rd? That'd be entertaining in addition to hopefully RB and Mercedes being super close. We shall see!!

And fucking Bernie!! 89! Christ the autism in that kid will be comparable to Anakin's force juice. Crazy.

Former Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone becomes a father at 89
JPublished Thursday, July 2, 2020 2:26PM EDT

Former Formula One mogul Bernie Ecclestone, 89, and wife Fabiana Flosi, 44, have announced the birth of their son.

The baby boy was born on Wednesday and is named Ace, a spokesperson for Ecclestone confirmed to CNN.
The new arrival will be the billionaire's first son, and his first child with Flosi, joining daughters Tamara, Petra and Deborah from Ecclestone's previous marriages.

Ecclestone and Flosi were married in 2012, and in 2016 Flosi's mother was kidnapped for ransom in Brazil. Aparecida Schunck Flosi Palmeira was released a week after being abducted.
Ecclestone ran Formula One for 40 years before he was ousted in 2017.

He is credited with overseeing the sport's transformation from an amateurish operation in the 1970s to the US$8 billion business formally acquired by new U.S. owner Liberty Media in 2017.
Ecclestone remains an influential figure in the sport and caused controversy in late June for his comments on racism.

Lewis Hamilton, six-time world champion and the first and only Black driver to compete in F1, has called out F1's "biggest stars" for "staying silent ... in the midst of injustice," and set up the Hamilton Commission to increase diversity in motorsport.

Ecclestone praised Hamilton for his initiative but told CNN he does not think it will have a tangible impact on F1.

"In lots of cases, Black people are more racist than what White people are," he added.
CNN challenged Ecclestone over the assertion and he was unable to provide any concrete evidence for the baseless claim beyond saying that he had "noticed" it over the years.

Ecclestone joins an illustrious list of celebrities who have fathered children later in life.

Charlie Chaplin was 73 when he and wife Oona O'Neil welcomed their son Christopher into the world, while media mogul Rupert Murdoch was 72 when he had his daughter Chloe with his then-wife, Wendi Deng, in 2003.

Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro was 68 when he and Grace Hightower had their daughter Helen Grace, and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner was 65 when son Cooper was born to then-wife Kimberley Conrad.

Fuck off Lewis, you got showered in McLaren money to get you where you are today, there was no issue with the colour of your skin then was there?

Remember when Lewis did the cringe "racial paygap in sport" interview pointing out sports like tennis but ignoring say F1, his own sport, where the average black driver salary is massively higher than the average white driver salary.

Like we get it Lewis you're (half) black. Now tell us all why you hate your mum so much.

formula 1 is full of inequality, just not racial equality. Since the tobacco companies left, almost every team has struggled to put together enough money (this did happen in the past, but less so). Pay drivers, middle-eastern money, companies like PETRONAS, Aramco, are all bigger problems that actually affect F1. But yes, Make the "educated whites" in USA feel good about F1 because they don't know what any of the sponsors are.

Well sky have managed to screw up their entire buildup show for the first grand Prix of a very delayed season by just crowing about muh diversity. We got about a 30 second clip of the important work the teams did to help out with the pandemic, about the same on the new rules then the rest on something that is nothing to do with the sport.

Look we have had drivers of pretty much every colour on the grid at one time or another, we have how many nationalities represented on the grid. How is it not diverse already?

The sooner these people in the entertainment industry realise they are dancing monkeys for our amusement, and that no one cares what the dancing monkey thinks the better.

Yeah, I am watching the buildup stuff (I'm in Canada, but use a pirate SkyF1 feed) and every time they start going on about it, I turn the volume down and come to the Farms and get caught up while waiting for them to talk about the actual racing, cars etc.! Hopefully they won't be doing this every pre-race!

But at least they gave Hamilton a penalty for yesterday! LOL

If Bernie was still in charge we'd be talking racing. That guy knew how to make a sport entertaining since that is its entire purpose. Unfortunately the Americans took over and that group of wealthy white Americans always feel the need to insert messages and lectures into everything, it can never be just entertainment for some reason.

Yeah, sad days man. Being older and growing up in the days before the internet and social media etc., its just ridiculous how much and how many "messages" need to be conveyed to the masses. I try and tune the shit out.

And Bernie was indeed a piece of work! He definitely built F1 in to the worldwide deal it is.

Sooo, let's not focus on that crap, first race is imminent, looks like a good mixed up grid, a couple of drivers have some opportunities to get a podium with a bit of luck. Ferrari are out of the mix so they only have to hope for 2 of the big 6 drivers to have issues. Could happen. But Max with the alternate strategy looks like a pretty good lock. Who do you think will finish higher, a RP or McL driver? They look pretty comparable for 3rd best team.

Oh yeah whatever, I'm sure all drivers absolutely voluntarily decided to make this statement with no coersion or implied threats involved.

I'm just hoping someone sticks a car into the side of Hamilton's mercedes. I hope Norris does well from 3rd. Other than that I just want an entertaining race.

Yeah, this is my last comment on the snowflake world aspect of F1, but it was interesting to see quite a few not kneel. Glad some of the drivers aren't fully cucked yet. :)

But, yes, it would be nice if the Mercedes and RB take each other out. I want Checo on the podium, he is my turbo driver in the fantasy game! LOLOL

Fingers crossed its not a snorefest and we get at least a good battle for 1st and good one for 4th. Lewis will probably end up winning somehow. I hope not we need a good competitive season.

Enjoy the race man! IF anything significant happens I am sure we will exchange more here.

Man I hate DRS, creating thrilling overtakes my ass. Straight line drive bys are so thrilling.

Also fuck, we'll get ready for the mercedes 1-2 show...

Yeah, the SC will tighten up shit now! But def a 1-2 for the Black Arrows unless they take each other out.

Not a fan of how many safety cars we get these days. They've gotten far too risk averse. It means we don't get any of the strategy now, no overcuts or undercuts just everyone pit under the safety car.

Perez went with the medium when everyone else went to hards so if he can make them last (which we all know if anyone can it's him) then he might be on for a good showing.

Oh I hope they're doing another Netflix series this year. I eagerly await the Haas episode again, everyone loves Gunther Steiner.

Yeah, Perez got a shot at 3rd if his car doesn't have same issues Mercedes possibly have. As for Haas, yeah, Williams got a shot at beating them this year.

As for SCs, definitely agree. With the amount of safety now, they could be a bit more "risky". What gets me is when they start a wet race under the SC. That fucking annoys the hell out of me.

Oh fuck!! Another SC I bet!! I wonder who will pit if so?
Oh this could get spicy now!!

Oh yeah, the wet race starts are annoying, glad they changed the rule to make it a standing start after tha safety car laps in those cases.

Albon looking good on the soft tyres with ailing Mercedes up front

It is looking good for a battle. I hope Perez can hang in there. But if those Mercs both drop out, that will be a fantastic podium for first race!

I don't get why the SC periods are so long in situations like this. He parked pretty near a gap it looked like.
