Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

Yeah, its fucking annoying. Add in all the safety enhancements since the 90s too! Its not like the cars are going 50% faster now. I mean you just got to be the fastest slow car. Drive within the driver's limits and best one at doing so get's pole.

Just have them drive round behind the safety car for 5-10 laps. Will help dry the track and will give the drivers chance to work out the conditions.

@LiveFromNS hope you dropped Perez from your fantasy lineup.

I bet Sainz is looking at the performance of the McLaren Vs the Ferrari and wondering if that was an awful decision.

No, I picked on basis of FP2 being grid so kept him and he is still Turbo driver. So hopefully he drives like mad and gets a podium or my interest in doing this every race will be gone I think!

Well the weather is 50/50 on it being wet so hopefully it's the intermittent showers type GP, they're always fun and throw up some odd results. Perez is certainly in with a good shout then because making tyres last between stints can buy you not having to make a pit stop for new slicks right before back in for inters.

The weather will take the tyre choices off the table (if wet entire race), but I am interested to see what the strategies will be if at start it is a dry track. Like what would happen if Verstappen started on the hard? LOL As is always the case with me though, I just hope its a competitive race and not a snorefest or overly predictable. Best scenario for me is Ver/Ham take each other out at start, Bot suffers problems and only gets a Top 10, and the rest are battling it out for the prime points. Ferrari might get lucky and 1 of them gets a podium again! But Merc has to come out of this one with no heavy points to keep the titles interesting on a whole. Given the mixed up grid the end results could be good, with or without rain!

And yeah, I have to give up on that stupid fantasy game! LOL I only got into it last year as my daughter's BF (THANK GOD, future son-in-law is into F1 as well!) had a league with his work buddies so he got me in it. I did come in 2nd last year though! But he doesn't work there anymore so just doing it on my own. But, last week I had Ham instead of Bottas, so before this race I swapped out Ham and brought Bot in. What happens, reverse of 1st race of course. You play it?

Also, with spelling of tyre, you in UK aren't you! Canada here.

Yeah, it doesn't look like there is going to be rainy so we can just hope for an eventful race. I hope for a repeat of Hamilton/Albon from last week (don't really mind the other driver involved) but with Hamilton coming off worse, watch all the Hamilton fans who have been blaming Albon all week suddenly switch tune.

I wouldn't mind a Vestapen win with Hamilton and Bottas down the order, it at least makes for a fight between Mercades and Red Bull for the drivers championship.

I haven't played the fantasy F1. My old work did the fantasy Premier League which I did but always came way down the order because I don't care not know much about football.

Yup, I'm a Brit.

Last week: "oh the drivers have voluntarily decided to send this message"
During the week: "why did these horrible racists decide not to kneel".
This week: "it's terrible for the message and sport that we couldn't bully these drivers into conforming".

Rule 1, don't take out your teammate...

We shall see how I do after this one for the Fantasy game.
BTW, I watch an AceStream of SkyF1 in 1080p so I see everything, the pre and post race stuff, the shows, all F2 and F3 stuff. For free! Been doing that for last 3 years so get the full fix instead of the commercial filled stuff on the Canadian broadcaster and its only basically race and qualy. I don't even know who has the rights to show it here anymore! HAHA

I always watch on a five minute delay so have to watch out I dont see a spoiler! I just paused it after Ferraris collided and safety car called, so will use the SC period to catch up to current time. The Ace player has a great buffer too,

When was last time both Ferraris finished in last 2 places I wonder. My daughter's BF's Dad is gonna be pissed. He is a Ferrari guy I understand. HAHA

I love all the ways the sky F1 commentators can play down Hamilton taking off Albon last week.

I watch Sky F1, when it first came out they did a deal where you got it free when you upgraded to sky HD so still have it as a free channel.

(:_(I paused it on lap 24 for a bit. Snorefest. 2nd stint better be interesting. And I need Perez ahead of Stroll, extra points if you beat your teammate I think! I have Ham Bot, Ver, Per, Snz and Gasly.

Perez is looking to come good, running those softs super long.

If Hamilton wins I at lease want Bottas 2nd since he's clearly going to be the biggest threat for the championship.

Well, interesting turn out. Gasly fucked up, Perez did well but was surprised he didn't take Albon. Norris. Of course he fucks up my scoring with Sainz, but he did a great job again. Now time to watch the F2 and F3 races which will undoubtedly be more entertaining then this one I bet.

Yeah, it was overall a pretty dull race with some interesting action now and again. I loved the commentators desperately trying to say that the hungaroring is a totally different track so will suit different cars. Yeah the Red Bull ring suits the red bulls and the Hungaroring usually suits the Mercs so doesn't bode well.

I can't wait for Lewis to retire or end up in a shit car again. We have loads of brilliant young British drivers coming through but no we have to have that prick being in the limelight constantly.

Renault complained as they think Racing Point pretty much has last years Mercedes car and F1 now looking into it by impounding the cars for inspection.

Honestly it was an okay race? I mean Hamilton in front is a given, not even the TV cameras focus on it much. But Ferrari tripping head over ass in lap 1 was entertaining and there was some nice jockeying for position in the rest of the race.

I'm a Daniel Ricciardo fan so on one hand, that sneaky dive from Lando hurts (but I respect the hustle) - think Stroll was lucky to not get a slap on the wrist today but whatever. But it's better than another DNF which could of happened after the crash on Friday

Also twitter news has headline "F1 Criticised For Not Showing End Racism Campaign in full" - like really? We don't need to see the drivers and crew kneel to show how not-racist they are every race. There's loads of "we love equality" stuff all over the cars and empty stands right now.

The sky drivers were 100 times more entertaining than a bunch of drivers kneeling while some sky F1 commentator lost his shit over some drivers choosing not to kneel. At least Button and Toto have come out and told him to calm the fuck down and stop focussing on who kneels or not as it is their choice.

"But does it not take away from the message of unity from the sport?" No Simon you bitching about it does take away from the message about racism though (as retarded as it is). Ironically kneeling has different meanings in different cultures, ignoring that fact and applying only the American BLM meaning is about as far from celebrating diversity as you can get.

Lewis coming out and saying he's worried about the campaign being forgotten. Well sorry to tell you this but it's a fad cause that will be dead by the end of the season Lewis. As soon as the media decide something else is the big thing that's what you'll be told you have to care about.

Yeah I saw that, it's funny because if you actually force people to kneel then it does take away the message, if you are forced or shamed into protesting something then you aren't joining in the protest's cause you are just doing it because someone told you to do it and thus the protests message is watered down.

F1 News: Vettel considering Aston Martin offer for 2021

That wouldn't be a bad move for Vettel actually, racing point usually turn out detect cars, have a shit ton of money and will become a manufacturer team too. I feel sorry for Perez if true though because it sure as hell won't be Lance going elsewhere. The concept art for the Astons look amazing too, hope they stick with the bold livery.

If RP actually signs Vettel and gets rid of Perez instead of little Stroll, it will be a fucking bonehead move. With Perez and Vettel they could conceivably be 3rd in championship.

Daddy Stroll has a shit ton of money, he should buy another team and stick Lance there so he has some place to play. With Aston Martin coming in, the budget cap, Stroll's bucks and as you say FI/RP not being bad at car making, they could be a contender for wins next year. If Perez gets a few podiums this year, and a fluke win, it will make it all the more ludicrous if they drop him instead of Lance.

Nothing against Lance, I am a Canadian for christsakes, but Perez has more talent and ability than he ever will. Plus a decade of experience. It will be interesting how all this plays out in the end.

tl;dr-I want to see Seb in the RP but not at Checo's expense.

Lance is a legit good driver though, so I don't see it being that much of a sting not having Perez as a mainline driver. That said, I don't really see what they could gain from having Vettel because he hasn't been good in Ferrari in spite of being the blatant number 1 for a while and he's been rather meh for the past few years for the resources and talent he's supposed to have.
