Been seeing a lot of talking about this over the past few days; mind if I ask, what's so special about the original map? I know a lot of people seemed thrilled due to nostalgia, but was the OG map actually good, or what?
Honestly, nostalgia, but I think that people liked the weapons selection and the simplicity of Chapter 1.. No augs/perks, no gold to keep track of, no mercs to hire and no bots to fight.

Played a couple rounds this morning and I remembered why I didn't really care for Map 1.. It's fucking empty between points. Thank God there's still sprinting and climbing because walking everywhere is a nightmare.

I don't think people realize how much better the game is now vs. 10 years ago in literally every respect. Fortnite is like World of Warcraft where its technically the same game, but its been rebuilt from the ground up so many times its completely unrecognizable when compared to its launch state.

Personally, I'm fond of the Chapter 2 maps because that's when I started playing the game. But I can only think of one map I really hated (Chapter 3, Season 1).

Played a few matches on the Chapter 1 map myself, and... well, it's certainly simplistic. It certainly takes a bit of adjustment, getting used to lack of other things. Weapons feel okay for the most part; the grapple gun feels a bit bad, and I really am not a fan of the traps, but the overall simplistic design to the other weapons is certain something I can get behind. So, not too many complaints there.

Yeah, the entire map just feels open; there's barely anything really all that interesting, and it doesn't help that it feels like there's tons of sweaty players this season. I don't even want to imagine how the original game was without being able to mantle.

Still, the map taking place during/after the events of the Save the World campaign is pretty cool. You can definitely see little pockets of where people had been trying to survive. Maybe it means that we might get some more content for it in the future?

As someone who didn't play the original, I can imagine that it was probably pretty bad? That seems to be something of a popular opinion here.

To be honest, I am genuinely curious as to where Fortnite is going to be going in the future, now, that the story and stuff has gone back in time and back to the roots. Like, gameplay-wise, a lot of people seem to be of the opinion that the latter seasons and updates were so much better, so going (mostly) back to the basics is a bit odd. I mean, getting rid of a bunch of unneeded excess can be helpful, but at the same time, it leaves the future of the game uncertain.

Also, given that it's Fortnite: skins and cosmetics. Some of the skins that we're getting now - like the remixed versions of Hybrid, Peeley, Lynx, and others - along with a lot of older content getting brought back makes me think that we're going to be getting some cool gear in the future, at least. That being said, it also feels a little bit lazy, in some cases. There is supposed to be a remixed version of Dire in the works, so... who knows?

So, what do you guys think of this event so far? Apparently, the map is supposed to be changing in the upcoming weeks; maybe that'll shake a few things up?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, what do you guys think about Save the World? Fun game mode, or no?

2nd EDIT: Also, why is the item store so small now? Seriously, there's nothing there, practically.

meh, played a few rounds today on the new/old season - Game's dropping me straight into the sweatiest lobbies imaginable and I just can't be bothered with it. I just want guns that shoot where I'm pointing them, and lobbies that are not absolute sweatfests. Apparently that's not happening, so I'm out.

Git gud, faggot.

Or stick with Roblox.

I saw the ad for the OG map on my xbox dashboard so I installed the game again just to check out the original map for old time’s sake, and it’s not even the “OG” map.

Really? Which map is it then? Just about all of the posts that I've been seeing have been claiming that it's the "OG" map.

Also, got a question for everyone here; given that it's... well, Fortnite, which skins are your favorite(s)? Got any that you really like to run with?

I’m not sure what season it’s from but it’s at least as late as season 4 or season 5. Moisty Mire is replaced with the desert zone and there are ziplines all over the place which still register as a “new” feature in my head.

Make other players shit themselves with this one simple trick!

Google "Creepy face pie" go to the images and you will understand where they got the idea for this guy. Love the creepy inplications.

Btw I have never eaten a meat pie before ¿Is it actually tasty?

Yeah. If I remember right, the devs admitted they had lost the map versions predating season 5 or something? It was a long time ago, but that'd explain why season 5 is the earliest version they released. Anyway, I can't remember where I saw that info as it was years ago, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's an altered season 5 map. There's various small differences, like the ziplines being added which weren't added till season 7. Blame time travel shenanigans or an alternate universe where things play out the same with minor differences.

I suspect every week though we will be progressing to the next seasons map, though the rumor is we're going to be skipping 8..

It's honestly more enjoyable sometimes, but it really depends if you have other people to play it with. Recently I haven't wanted to play the newer seasons, but I wanted some stuff from the Battlepass so I played fucktons of STW and it gives pretty good XP for the time spent in missions. Plus you can unlock stuff to use in battle royale if you want.

I really should buy it one of these days; sounds like it could be interesting.

I wanted to play it for months before I pulled the trigger on buying it. It's a bit of a crapshoot what skin comes with the STW packs, but to get the vbucks from the pack you have to complete dailies IN the actual STW mode, which don't work like regular battle royale dailies and you literally only get one a day. Aside from that, you're essentially resource gathering every mission and crafting your own weapons and traps fighting husks (The fiends are a super basic reskin of them) there's also special husks but they aren't super memorable.

Sounds simple enough; not the most exciting, but as long as it can be fun, then I'll give it a shot.

Speaking of skins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRKNuA9lmss

Lots of food-based skins just got added into the survey. Along with a number of furry ones.

Judging from the aesthetics, it looks like we might be getting a post-apocalypse map in the next Chapter. TBH, I am kinda interested in what they might be bringing in the upcoming Chapter; I'm hoping that they finally release some of the most requested skins in the survey - that Hellhound/Cerberus Dire remix looks cool, and the orange post-apocalypse dragon is also interesting - but who knows. I've been hearing a number of persistent rumors that we might be getting FNAF skins in the future, so...?
