I've been testing out/playing the "lego mode" and it's a pretty decent timewaster that surprisingly actually gives a lot of XP. I gained like 5or 6 levels from just playingit for a while and I have no clue what counts towards XP in it lmao. Gameplay wise it's like they made a don't starve/rust-esque game and then slapped fortnite and lego branding on it. For some reason Mancake and Meowskulls are both replaced by some generic black guy in a skullcap but a variant of mancake has the proper head he's supposed to have for some absurd reason. the random number seed I put in to see what happened had my spawn surrounded by frozen tundras that startedkilling me ifi even got maringally close to them, but also had an RNG cave directly at spawn so that's a bonus.

Wondering if there's gonna be a controversy a year or 2 down the line when they probably cycle out the car and/or lego game mode when their licensing shit runs out.

I don't see Rocket Racing going anywhere, considering that Fortnite Crew also gives you Rocket League crew and Epic bought Psyonix back in 2019. I think however Lego will still be pretty permanent as I see it being both a good money maker for both companies.. The only game mode that I do see getting gutted and rearranged is the Fortnite Festival because music licensees are pretty much always done by the Jewiest of Jews. Epic owned Bandcamp, but they sold it earlier this year, wouldn't surprise me if they had some sort of clause or deal done allowing for cheaper access to music to use.

Fortnite Festival is pretty fun, found out it's made by Harmonix. Song Selection is very mid, but at least it changes at daily reset, now I understand why you'd want to buy your favorite song. 500 V-bucks isn't terrible... But honestly it should be 200 or maybe even 300. Would be nice if it let you play the songs you own in cars like adding a MP3 station or something like GTA does. Eventually, I think they'll chart all the lobby music you own too, so if you own a lot from other seasons, you'll at least have a healthy library.
Music notes are easier to get if you play with randos, as you can get your own stars and band stars which work toward several quests/milestones. It is very nice that you aren't all forced to have each member play a different interment, as you can run it with 4 basses if you like. Music Jam at least lets you AFK while you do other things, because I don't see myself randomly switching tracks and tempos with other losers for half an hour a day.
The Festival Pass being double the price of a regular battle pass is retarded, and I don't really care for "The Weekend", but at least it has some free-rewards. It could have been worse, they could have gotten another black afro guy to be the face of the pass...

Call me curious; out of the different game modes now in the game, which do you guys think is the best for XP? Battle Royale, Save The World, races, LEGO mode, music mode, what? I mean, BR is fun and all, but it can get a bit repetitive to grind, especially when you've already completed the Weekly Quests.

I don't grind until the end of the season when there's a surplus of quests.
Lego mode supposedly gives good XP, but I don't know how much, how often, and if you can just AFK in Lego mode and walk away.

Do xp creative maps still work? I have heard that someone grinded 14 levels tis way.

Other than an XP exploit by using a starting quest in Lego and leave a buddy's server/rejoining it, the festival lobby (where you're running around) let's you get XP just by sitting there

Eh, good enough for me. Can't exactly play everyday, but at least being able to AFK grind (up to) 420K per day is still something. Might as well take advantage while you can.

Yes, but because of the Holidays the game feels like it's lagging behind. Winterfest was alright, but shop updates have been pretty crap since the turtles came out. I'm almost done with getting stars for Super Skins and they're still not out for another week or two.
The regular squad I've been playing with are starting to piss me off.. Mostly because they'll take good guns and just fucking sit on them while plinking away with their shitty blue snipers. The fuck you need an auto pistol for nigga, you aint ever get more then 200 fucking meters of the fucking guy.
I'm glad they nerfed the medallions and I'll be even more glad when they take them out for next season.

Yeah, the Item Shop has been... pretty bad lately. From what I've read, it's apparently because Epic was either on vacation, or was prioritizing skins that were compatible with the LEGO mode, though I'm not quite sure what the actual issue was.
Good news is; with Epic back from vacation, we should start getting some actually decent skins in the shop now. From what I heard, we're also supposed to be getting a pretty solid update around Jan. 24th, possibly. No idea what it's supposed to be, but I am curious.
Funny thing is, I have had some success with the snipers, but I've had more success with ARs and Shotguns. Admittedly, it's because I'm pretty bad at sniping; still learning the finer points of it.
I will say, though, that the sniper does seem to be really strong this season. I've seen the majority of players using them, and I've actually been 1-shot from full health and shields more than once. Gunfights certainly feel more difficult to win than the previous seasons.
Still, it is fun going after players who grab the medallions; more often than not, they get WAY too cocky with them, and it's often pretty easy to ambush them.

The culprit seems to be the redesigned ui. Players have been complaining about the item shop forever (FOMO means it's inevitable everything you want isn't available when you want it, and often for weeks or months after) but the game's visual overhaul has led to less skins being available because there's just no space on the menu for it. Then the few skins that do appear tend to be on rotation every 7 - 14 days, so it's just the same shit servings over and over. Lego skins share space with normal skins so that isn't the problem, and skins without complete Lego variants have been appearing in the shop. You could definitely argue songs, instruments and that faggot Weeknd are taking up space though.
Also reminder that Solid Snake is coming to the game. If you are a boomer who likes MGS and would ever play Fortnite you can do some easy challenges on the 23rd to unlock him. Even if you don't, unlocking him (and maybe Peter Griffin) on an account could make you a few hundred dollars USD later if you just sell the account.

I reinstalled this recently and I’ve been checking out all the different game modes, and I’ve gotta talk about the jam stage in festival mode.
Admittedly it’s just an infection vector for goyslop if you’re a nooticer, but it’s really exciting how it allows for emergent collaboration with random strangers. I’ve spent the last hour wordlessly syncing up with people making new music that only lasts as long as any individual decides.
As much as this game gets hate for its monetization model, it really allows for experimentation in the social aspects of gaming. Sure, some indie studio might put out a collaborative music generator but it would be a niche title and wouldn’t have access to the audience or funding that fortnite does.

I'll get on and check later but it's really kinda sucky they removed the snow. It's not like previous seasons where the snow slowly took over the map till christmas, the northern part of the map in general seemed designed to be a winter tundra type region.
I gotta wonder when they're going to actually make the porta potty chute things actually functional again. there's been several spots with them around the map for months but you can't interact with them despite them having blatant entry and exit points. There's a cave full of chests and the little coral buddy guys that's slightly hidden on the east side of the map that's a bit of a pain getting in and out of due to this. Practically nobody goes there as a result though so I tend to check it from time to time. Also frequently check the area with the wind turbines with chapter 2 stuff washed up on the nearby shore in the northeast most of the time to see if anything comes of that weird thread. So far the only thing I've seen is "the Society" hijacking Midas' Yacht and repainting it black though I don't think the yacht washed up on that beach, just kinda showed up in the west side of the map one day.
