So, the Daft Punk event is live; honestly, very visually impressive! As someone who admittedly isn't very familiar with the duo's general history - I know a few of their songs, but mostly just from memes and such - I admit that the event was a LOT trippier than I imagined; the intro alone has you going some kind of Stargate-like thing, then you crash into a desert, pick up a helmet and put it on, then you go into the pyramid...

Honestly, it's a REALLY cool event. Mostly just a playground, but it's a fun one. Has a few quests to complete, including a horde shooter mode where you fight robots with the power of dubstep, a "Jam Stage" where you can remix a few Daft Punk songs together to create your own mix, a small mode in LEGO which has you fixing up a space station, and the actual main stage is this MASSIVE open area where you can go up on stage and watch the duo perform several songs. I will say, it's weird watching several Power Rangers, the Gorillaz, Bevis and Butthead, and whatever other randomness you get all emoting to the music.

Still, really cool event, glad I got to attend. I actually think this was my first event that I got to attend in Fortnite, unless we count that Game Awards stage...
The main stage was seriously impressive, it's a part of their actual set they did during their 2007 Alive tour but 3D rendered. Crazy visuals and my mind was blown when Interstella and The Crescendolls appeared for One More Time. This is their most intuitive event to date for sure. Very kino.

Sadly, I had to leave the stage early for work; good news is, I think the game mode is going to be accessible for the next week or so, meaning that we can still go back and enjoy the concert, right?

I spent like 40 minutes tooling around on the jam stage. I had a good time, but the whole thing was buggy as fuck and hardlocked my PS5.

As much as people shit on Fortnite, sometimes I just step back and appreciate its existence. I remember the absolute jank I used to play on the SNES or PS1 growing up and Fortnite, for all its flaws, has slowly morphed into 12 year old me's dream game.

Sweet. I'm definitely heading back into it when I get the chance; whole thing was just WAY too cool.

Didn't have any issues on the stage itself; everything ran smoothly once I got it. I know me and some other people have had some issues actually getting in, though; game crashed the first time I tried loading in, and I've heard of other people having the same issue.

That's what makes the game so popular, I think; yes, it's janky as crap at times, but the game itself is just so random and chaotic with all of the events and crossovers that it just works. Helps that, unlike it's attempted copycats, Fortnite was designed to be lighterhearted from the get-go and actually has a consistent identity.

In the grand scheme of live-service games, I’ve always found Fortnite to take the most measured approach to monetization. That’s what’s kept me playing for as long as I have. Can you criticize the game for plenty of things? Absolutely. But when it comes to monetization, it gets a lot right.

Think about it: everything in the item shop is purely cosmetic, as are all the rewards from all of the battle passes. When you buy something, you know it’ll remain forward-compatible with any future game modes. Hell, the only piece of gameplay content that’s paywalled in any form is Save the World. I also appreciated the changes to how XP is accumulated, since it means I can now play whatever I want in-game and not feel like I'm wasting my time, because there are some pretty fun creative maps if you’re willing to do some digging.

Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the live-service spectrum, you have games like Call of Duty, where not only are you already paying full price for the game, but you’re also paying for premium battle passes and tons of cosmetics that won’t even carry over into the next COD.

If ya'll want an easy way to level in Demon Rush, here's what you do:

Solo Queue
Buy Rumi's sword
Pick any talents that gives you regen. and crit.
Smash face until your fingers get sore.

I was getting 3+ levels per game cheesing Rumi's sword.

The animu bullshit leaves in four days, so if you want to exploit, exploit NOW.

Bit late, but I can confirm; this absolutely destroys everything. Outside of a few situations, I basically never even remotely felt concerned; the blade just destroys everything, and it just gets better as you level up, get better perks, and either start with enough money to just purchase a blade right at the start or get lucky and get one to drop from a random enemy. It's just hilarious how well it plays, especially compared to a normal gun build.

Save the World just got another disastrous balance change: they nerfed the Xenon Bow.
Previously it fired much larger projectiles than other bows, and combined with its ability to pierce through enemies, it was a strong crowd clearing weapon.
They've now reduced its projectile size by 98%, ruining its crowd clearing ability and making it require the same aiming precision as other bows.
Unlike the last weapon balance update, there are no buffs to other weapons to compensate. The best weapon in the game is ruined, have fun.

So, who's hyped for the upcoming Simpsons season that's been leaked? Me, personally, wasn't ever really a huge fan of the franchise, and I feel like Fortnite is essentially 90% collabs these days, but there's still a chance this one might go well. Looking forwards to the upcoming Gala and Norse seasons as well, though it looks like the season after that is supposed to be yet another Marvel-themed one.

Also, Star Wars is supposed to be involved with the upcoming Live Event, so... that's a thing that's in the works, I guess.

I will say, I am getting increasingly-frustrated with the shop, though. I know Epic's gotta keep up with the FOMO stuff they got,but there's been a number of skins and gear that's overdue at this point, and I'm honestly more than a bit tired of waiting. Likewise, I've been looking for a good classical wizard staff - legit nothing fancy, just an old wooden walking stick - and I know that there's several pickaxes with that design, but none of them really show up in the shop. Seriously, it's spooky season; you think we'd have some more options for making a witch or wizard, but I guess not.

At the very least, the gameplay side of things is still solid; Daft Punk concert is still live until November 1st, so enjoy it while it lasts. Likewise, Demon Rush leaves on Oct. 31st, so get it done while you can. As for other modes, BR's still kinda decent, and it looks like the story is slowly building up to the upcoming Live Event, so I'm going to be... curious, on how Epic takes us from a Japanese island that's been the site of kaiju attacks, crime waves, Star Wars, superheroes, a bug invasion, and a Halloween apocalypse to... the Simpsons.

Fun fact; I think Canyon Crossing is the only POI from the original Oninoshima map that hasn't gotten changed for the entire season; yes, Shogun's Solitude was there as well, but it got remixed during the Star Wars season, so it doesn't count. Also... did the devs really do anything with the Fox Clan this season? I mean, we got a few lore drops about them, Canyon Crossing was teased literally years ago in a loading screen, and the island is literally their home, but... it doesn't feel like they've had much of a presence.

So, double-post here, but the season is officially over, and the Simpsons live evet just happened. If anyone wants to go on the Daft Punk stage one more time, now's your last chance.

As for the Simpsons event... well, nothing much happened, really.

The crowd of players were all in a small area next to the Treehouse, Hope and Jones showed up to seal the Dark Presence in the Spirit Realm - despite the previously-established goal being to break into the Realm - and the demon sealing goes off without a hitch... until the two Simpsons aliens show up and break the rift back open, which results in said demon attacking the island, apparently wiping out the entire lobby.

From there on, we get a cutscene animated like the Simpsons, which has the aliens reveal their grand plan was to try and "marry" the giant demon, all the while Hope and Jones try to fight said demon off. Also, Fishstick was there for some reason, and got killed again. Anyways, the two aliens tractor beam the two Fortnite characters into their ship, and the demon knocks said ship into a wormhole, but not before Hope is able to use said tractor beam to stag a tiny piece of the Zero Point shard from the demon's body.

While tumbling through the wormhole, Hope and an alien get into a fight over where they should go next, either back to the island or to Springfield. Unfortunately, their resulting fight with the ship's controls instead results in the two realities merging into the next island. The two aliens proudly announce their intention to conquer the place, only for the ship to immediately get hit by the battle bus; aliens get diced, Hope and Jones drop onto the island, and the zero point shard gets dropped into Springfield...

...and lands in the Simpsons house, in front of Homer, who immediately decides to use said alien artifact as a replacement for his TV remote's batteries, turning said remote into a cartoony version of "Click". Despite Marg's misgivings and confirming that Hope and Jones were searching for the shard, Homer decides that the best thing to do with said power is... to try and turn Springfield into "nirvana".

Overall, kind of a "meh" mini-event, damn near missed out on it because the game was having some issues with matchmaking. I did hear pretty frequently that Star Wars was supposed to be involved in the event somehow, but I didn't see anything from that, so...?

Aside from all that... part of me will miss the Chapter 6 island. Wasn't perfect - I still think the Fox Clan got robbed in terms of plot - but some of the prior POIs were pretty cool. The gameplay changes weren't always the best; removing the advanced parkour mechanics because the sweats cried too much, and then putting in a shit-ton of OP melee weapons and medallions just made things worse. The first two seasons had the best POIs, but the melee weapons ruined the balance, and the latter seasons all got crap new areas and too much jank as well. Story was just plain bad; the aforementioned Fox Clan, Kaiju tie-ins, and Fletcher Kane all got wasted (the latter in favor of dicksucking Midas for whatever reason), the Star Wars season was random, I think just about everyone is tired of the superhero bullshit at this point, the O.X.R. was underutilized, the Halloween season was okay (K-Pop Demon Hunters carried it HARD).

Still... had a few good moments here and there, and I'll miss the few good times I had.

For the upcoming season... dunno, wasn't ever a fan of the Simpsons, though I admit I never watched it much. Might just hop in and grab the umbrella, not sure on the Battle Pass.

EDIT: Spelling

I really enjoyed the bug stuff, but the whole season was good.

If you're not a Simpsons fan, I don't expect this season to change your mind. I don't think I have ever talked to someone who became a fan of The Simpsons after the golden age.

Is Daft Punk going to be staying or something? I loaded up the game, and the Experience is still there.

Also, got a win on the new Simpsons map; it's... neat, I guess? Don't have much to say about it, I think someone who enjoys the show more would find it interesting.

Oh boy cant wait for another season of clowning on individuals who haven't developed fine motor skills yet.

This season is really fun so far. The time to kill is low like Blitz but with a better loot pool. And the new weapons are good too.
Even if you're not a Simpsons fan, there's still a lot of fun to be had here.
