Citation needed for the initial claims it bombed in Japan and needed the English dub to pick up the slack. Notably the Wikipedia page's citations only lead back to convention q and a's with the voice actors. Everything else are just blogs.

It’s honestly hard to say, ya know? Back when the situation was fresh, even people on the Farms assumed that Vic was guilty. It wasn’t really until after Nick got involved that people started taking a serious looking at the “evidence”. I’m sure there’s a lot of people who were moderately Kickvic when it started who may think differently now, but aren’t exactly going to broadcast it to the world.
Well, Ron Toye isn't that well known. If you see him trending, it's like "random guy I never heard of is trending? I'll ignore it and move on with my life". FUNimation on the other hand is a rather well known company. Even non-anime fans have heard the name at least in passing. They are far more likely to click on it to see what's up with it.
