Manager Sam Allardyce has left Leeds United after his four-game tenure ended in relegation from the Premier League.

The 68-year-old lost three and drew one of his matches in charge, having succeeded Javi Gracia on 3 May.
Leeds will return to the Championship after a three-season stay in the top flight.

"It has been an honour to manage Leeds United, a great club with an incredible fan base, who deserve to be in the Premier League," said Allardyce.

"At this stage in my career I am not sure taking on this challenge, which is potentially a long-term project, is something I could commit to, but I wish the club every success for the future and hope the club returns to the Premier League, where they belong."

Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear said: "We thank Sam for being brave enough to step in and do all he could to save us.

"Sadly, it was not to be, but Sam, [assistants] Karl Robinson and Robbie Keane did everything they could to lift the mood at Thorp Arch and Elland Road and for that we are all extremely grateful."

The club said "an announcement on a new Leeds United head coach will be made in the coming weeks".
Leeds were beaten 4-1 by Tottenham at home on the final day of the season, and finished five points shy of safety.

Allardyce became Leeds' third non-interim manager of a turbulent season that began under Jesse Marsch, who had guided them to safety on the final day of the 2021-22 campaign but was sacked after less than a year in charge on 6 February.

Gracia lifted the club above the relegation zone on goal difference with 11 points from 11 games, only for a 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth to spell the end for the Spaniard and director of football Victor Orta, with Allardyce arriving alongside assistant Robinson.

The experienced Allardyce, who had not been a head coach since suffering the first top-flight relegation of his managerial career with West Bromwich Albion in 2020-21, drew headlines at his first press conference by likening himself to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Arsenal's Mikel Arteta.

Following a 2-1 defeat at City in his first game, Allardyce explained that his words had been designed to shift the focus from his players, in a ploy inspired by Sir Alex Ferguson during the 13-time Premier League winner's era at Manchester United.

A comeback 2-2 draw at home to Newcastle United in their subsequent game was the only point Leeds won under Allardyce, leaving him "sad" at their demise three years after earning promotion in impressive style under Marcelo Bielsa.
Big Sam adding to his disastrously short reign as a National team manager, with a disatrously short reign as a Premier League manager.

Some news from Bundesliga/2.Bundesliga relegation battles.

Maybe you don't know how relegation works but the 16th of Bundesliga and the 3rd of 2. Bundesliga have to play it out in two matches who will stay/go to Bundesliga. Same for the 2. Bundesliga and our 3. division.

This year it's VfB Stuttgart (1.) vs Hamburger SV (2.) and Arminia Bielefeld (2.) vs Wehen Wiesbaden (3.).

Stuttgart won the 1st match 3:0 and they could have easily scored more goals bc Hamburg was a complete failure on every level.

Bielefeld lost to Wiesbaden even 4:0. It got so bad that Bielefeld fans started throwing beer cups and fireworks on the pitch and tried to storm the pitch.
Last season Bielefeld was relegated from 1. Bundesliga to 2. Bundesliga and now they are going down to the 3. division. There's no way for a comeback. Wiesbaden annihilated Bielefeld.

HSV seem to be cursed since dropping out of Bundesliga. It's sad and baffling. At this rate, St Pauli are going to be promoted before HSV.

Congrats to City. Twitter during/after the match was just full out people literally counting the days until De Gea's contract is up and calling for him to be fucked off.

Probably the funniest story of the day though is a United fan was arrested because he had a shirt with 97 and "Not Enough" on it, and the Scousers, as always, are joyless whiny cunts who immediately prove him right. As always, Liverpool Delenda Est

Today was not a good day for the underdogs; United, Inverness and Frankfurt all got fucked. I'm suddenly not feeling that optimistic for Inter.

I don't like seeing a former European Cup/Champions League winner being a regular on 2° tier.

I would say sucks to be a Hamburger SV fan but Bielefeld certainly giving them some perspective

City is now two-thirds of the way to achieving that treble fans care about.
I always assumed whichever team was in the Champions League that City were playing had the best chance of stopping them. Inter are kinda set up to where I can see them playing a 5-3-2 with Dzeko and Martinez starting, Lukaku coming in at about the 65th mark to score a goal along with Martinez, then subbing off Martinez to go to a 5-4-1 and defend like crazy only for City to score 1 and lose 2-1 in the final

The UK's censorship laws put Putin and Xi to shame

Imagine being one of the greatest athletes of all time and hitting the peak of your career by winning the world cup, only to 6 months later end up being booed out of the stadium by the supporters of a shitty Club that was irrelevant 10 years ago.

Some River Plate fan fell to his death in Estadio Monumental today, the match vs Defensa y Justicia was called off.
Did they give any info as to how he managed to fall? My spanish isn't great atm so the broadcast might have explained it but I didn't pick anything up

Just proof he checked out after winning the World Cup. He was just playing out his contract since I am convinced the beginning of the season was strictly to stay in form

lol just saw in the end PSG only won League 1 with 1 point ahead.
They won it last week. What's funnier is that Lens had nothing to play for since they locked up 2nd (which gives them group stage Champions League) and decided to play all out at Auxerre and win while Nantes won at home to already relegated Angers. This let go from 33 to 36 points and leapfrog Auxerre and survive, relegating Auxerre. But Auxerre probably would have had to win since GD is on Nantes side and they each won against each other during the season

Makes sense if that's the case. It still adds to a melancholic ending to his career though, which will be made worse if he goes to Saudi Arabia.

And speaking of Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid confirms Benzema is leaving, he will definitely be playing there too.

They said that the guy throw himself from the stadium, managed to almost crush a woman that was passing by, head first into the floor.

The social media on the team clarified that the guy jumped himself, without anybody doing something suspicious to him. They supposedly have a video to backup the claim, but I honestly doubt it.

It was heartbreaking because the friends of the victim knew the truth when they were interviewing them.

He might go to MLS for a bit but I know Barca are scheming behind the scenes to bring him back right before the club becomes so bankrupt it ceases to exist.

Speaking of bad financial decisions from Barca, they discovered what bonds are. And just when interest rates are extremely high too. You can now buy bonds that are anywhere from 5-30 years at like a 5%+ coupon rate. I would recommend the shorter bonds due to the fact that they are going to be asking loan sharks for money to sign players in about 3-4 years

Wow, thats actually pretty sad.

Wow, what a poetic finish to the Serie A season. Juventus score a 2nd half goal against Udinese, sending them 2 point clear of Roma for 6th place. Meanwhile, Roma is playing Spezia at home, 1-1 going into stoppage time. Dybala then scores on a penalty, securing Europa League football for Roma and sending Juve to the conference league. :story:

Wow, shocked Juve still got europe. I thought the point deduction was supposed to make sure they didn't get any european football next year
