Sure he can reject. If it's true then I think it's an interesting signal bc 1. Tottenham seems to really, really want to have him and is ready to throw 50 mil at Bayern (reminder that Tel ist only 19 years old) and 2. the reports about Tel committing to become an established player at Bayern seem to be really true. But there is a lot of "allegedly". I personally just find it interesting and kind of fascinating. I just wishFrankfurt would have such a great young talent, worth a shitload of money but ready to stay.
 
The state championships are in full force here in Brazil, and despite their loss of prestige in recent years, they are still disputed by the big teams as a matter of pride.

Some people in the state of Pernambuco took it way too seriously. Last Saturday, two of the state's biggest teams, Santa Cruz and Sport Recife, played each other at the former's home ground. Before and during the match, however, members of the teams' "organized fans" (Tifosi/hooligans/barras bravas) basically enacted the Rwanda civil war in the streets of Recife, complete with a guy literally raped with steel bars.

According to a friend of mine who works directly with sports coverage, the authorities in Pernambuco know these fights always happen but have their hands tied by their higher-ups. Too much influence in the wrong places, it seems.

Bayern resigned Neuer for another year (in addition to signing a young goalie from Köln, Urbig), and today renewed Alphonso Davies. As a part of this, Davies made this music video on the Bayern youtube channel:

As has been mentioned up thread, it will be interesting to watch Munich transition from their current lineup into a new, younger one over the coming year or so. The big players yet to renew (to me at least) are Kimmich and Musiala. Maybe we will see news across the coming days, or maybe things are bumpier than expected. Kimmich has been critical of the team's play across several disappointments, including that disaster in Feyenoord in the UCL.

Bayern's wingers are, at best, inconsistent, to just bad (and overpaid, given their performance). Hopefully they can offload the dead salary there and put in some more players who know when to pass and when to go for goal.

Celtic - FC Bayern (win Bayern)

Cundy made a good point on TalkSport last night: that Pep is having a 'Mourinho season', where the genius spark, crazy tactical switches, and bluffs aren't coming off.

If he can't get the right players in the summer, and hit the ground running, next year, we might be seeing the end of Pep's legacy.

Love that as soon as the wheels fell off for Liverpool they showed their true colours. Curtis Jones hurling himself at an Everton player in a rage and getting booked, the players and Slot getting in officials faces and getting booked, VVD in the post match interview belittling Everton and blaming the officiating for their loss.

They're such sour losers, but the media would have you believing they're the perfect team who can't do anything wrong. Serves them right for spouting nonsense about how great it is to be kicked out of the FA Cup so they can now 'focus on the league'.

If they don't get 3 points against Wolves next I think they'll really start struggling. After that there's some tough fixtures in Aston Villa, City and Newcastle, but after getting knocked out by Plymouth and drawing to Everton it's not exactly inspiring confidence for them.
 
Bayern and Leverkusen play a bit later tonight, in a 1-2 matchup in the BuLi. Right now Bayern are ahead by 8 pts on the table (and their +46 gd is 24 goals ahead of Leverkusen), having gone on a fairly solid streak of wins and managing to escape Glasgow with a 2-1 win over Celtic on Wednesday. While a lot of Bayern's goals have come against lower teams in the liga (leading some to call Kompany's style of play bully-ball, as they do well against lesser competition but not so great against the top tier teams), the results do speak for themselves. Bayern are in a rough stretch between the Champions League and facing off against the top of the table this month in the domestic league.

Leverkusen are still having their second best season ever at this point (last year's was the sole better), while Bayern... maybe their third or fourth best after match day 21. Xavi parked the bus in Munich earlier this season, which led to a draw, and a red card inside of 10 minutes against Bayern's goalkeeper Neuer knocked Bayern out of the Pokal when they faced off last. Leverkusen managed to land in the top 8 in Europe, so they've had this midweek (and next) off, whereas Bayern had to travel and play.

Bayern's biggest weakness seems to be their wingers, who are kind of shit (Olisé excepted, who was a great offseason pickup), and the defense has been up and down. Munich are finally getting healthy, including Hiroki Ito, who they picked up over the summer. Ito just had his first pro start for Bayern, as he broke.. his foot? ... in a friendly before the season. He was a solid defender for Stuttgart last year, and Bayern's back line has been a bit wobbly. While I'm not 100% sold on Vincent Kompany as a coach, he's won the locker room over, and the players seem invested. That's more than can be said of Thomas Tuchel. (Good luck with that, England.)

While a tight race to the end of the season would be good for the Bundesliga, I just find Florian Wirtz a bit of a flopping prima donna, so I hope Bayern crush them tonight. It does feel like the magic Later-kusen had last season isn't quite there these days, and the Bavarians seem to be finding their stride. This could be the season won tonight, which isn't super compelling after the fact (or as compelling as 2 BuLi), but some hardware for Bayern this year would also be a first for Harry Kane.

There is a chance the two teams could also meet again in the Champions League, which would also be fun. I wonder what the record is for Bundesliga teams facing off against each other over a season?

Update after HT, 0-0 but Leverkusen outshot Bayern 7-0. Apparently it is the first time Bayern hasn't had a shot since the stat was tracked (1992?).
