He has a wierd autistic circle jerk of users who "clown" on EOPs (english only peasants) and any shortcut one can take to translate VNs for personal use, like Machine Translation programs and the like, hes a bit of a lolcow in the already lolcow-ish english VN community

You have no idea. Localization companies at this point are already at the point where they have an "in" with Japanese creators, so they can censor content before release. Funimation, before it was shut down, was on the production committee for a few animes like Fire Force, and there's articles out there announcing that treehouse was now allowed to alter games as they were being developed so FE Fates wouldn't repeat itself.

Somehow I doubt crunchyroll is any better. If anything, they're probably worse.

Then again I think the only official dubs I ever watched were Big O, Trigun (didnt finish the series) and uhhhhh Yu Yu Hakusho/DBZ when I was a kid. Everything else I just used fansubs for. Honestly it seems like these days if you want a halfway decent translation, you have to get a fan made one.

Creative translation is fine when it's warranted, but the people who are given the opportunity to work on these projects seem to be under the retarded impression that being a translator means they get to rewrite the entire script. Some of these examples make me seriously question how much they really understood of the original source text. It's like they only roughly understood the meaning, and then just rewrote it to cover up their lack of understanding.

Square Enix Heavily Censors Sexualized Artwork From Various Series For English Release Of Manga UP! App

The recent release of an English-language version of Square Enix’s Manga UP! app has left fans less than enthused after it was discovered that the company has censored numerous depictions of ‘sexualized’ body parts, including breasts and knees, across the various manga titles available on the service.

Officially made available to the English-speaking public on July 24th, the appropriately titled Manga UP! Global incarnation of Square Enix’s digital library collects localized editions of the company’s manga catalog in one app, with various agreements having been made to allow for the central aggregation of the series published under their direction regardless of who, if anyone, may have licensed them in the West.

Notable offerings currently up for perusal include Fujino Omori and Kunieda’s illustrated adaptation of the former’s original light novel series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Homura Kawamoto and Toru Naomura’s Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler –, and Hiromu Arakawa’s seminal work, Fullmetal Alchemist.

While the announcement that the app would finally be coming stateside was initially met with celebration and praise from fans, these positive sentiments were quickly dashed, as it was soon discovered that the company had taken a shotgun-blast approach to slapping a black bar over any artwork featured on the app that could be considered even remotely sexually.

That's not Mighty Gunvolt (an 8-bit crossover spinoff) but the original game, Azure Striker Gunvolt. The image is formatted confusingly, "Original" refers to the first localization (done by 8-4) and "Retranslation" refers to the second translation made in-house by developers Inti Creates to replace it after they (and the fans) saw how fucking terrible the first was. This incident was handled by beloved employee known by fans as "Papa Matt" (who recently moved to another game studio, Inti added a crossover boss dlc for a character from that company's game in their latest one as a sendoff gift to him for all he's done), who decided "This translation sucks. Fuck it, we'll make 'em get rid of it and just translate the game again ourselves and patch it in over the first one, I know japanese."
Why was the translation so bad that it made Inti Creates redo it themselves? Well, besides the retarded pronoun shit in the image, general dialogue changes screwed up the tone of the game (it was meant to have a darker tone like LNs, but the localized dialogue was goofy), even adding childish fake swearing such as "what the gack?!" But, much more egregiously, they also just... straight-up cut a ton of dialogue they didn't feel like translating. All of the mid-level dialogue that plays on a little window at the bottom of the screen while you play the levels... They just couldn't be assed, so in the localized version it didn't appear at all. This dialogue helped develop the story of the individual levels as you played them and contained conversations between characters that helped flesh them out.
This ALSO cut out lots of the tutorial dialogue for stage 1, which is rather important considering how quirky Gunvolt plays, with his gun not being the main source of damage but rather a means to mark enemies so they'll attract his electricity and he can use his lightning shield as an actual attack - this and many other quirks are left up to the player to figure out the hard way if they played the original localization.
The only versions that still have the retarded localization are the european 3DS release of Gunvolt 1 and the Steam release (but it also has the fixed translation, at the beginning it'll prompt you to choose between English or Japanese voices, choose the latter).

Inti may make some stupid decisions now and then but the one thing they've been consistent on is never putting up with censorship. They just straight-up stopped releasing one of their series on Xbox when Microsoft told them it'd have to be censored to get on.

In Japanese, her youthfulness is simply summarized by the lack of kanji characters (something that young kids barely know) so the text remain readable for a native

The reason being that you are only allowed to murder men to advance forward, but some slave woman is a step too far.

You still kill her in the exact same way, it's just you no longer get an achievement for doing so.
