Game of Thrones Thread

Fuck you Jon for not taking Ghost with you! Fucking ass.

Let's also mention that D + J = unification of North and South and that Tyrion is all for it only to get shot down by Vary who is suddenly a man of the people, despite dutifully sending assassins to murder Daenerys and whatnot after being the Baretheon spymaster.

THIS IS WHY DARIO GOT LEFT BEHIND SO SHE COULD ARRANGE A POLITICAL MARRIAGE

I think people are taking the anger/disappointment the wrong way. GOT fans don’t want a happy ending because that’s not what the story is about, they want something that makes sense for the characters and their arcs.

Right now, the show is pissing all over everything and taking a scorched earth policy to just finish the damn thing.

Upon reflection, Jorah's greyscale is another sterling example of difficult plotlines they resolved with laughable ease.

the communications in that day and age were somewhat constrained. I do believe that various treatments for apendix, plague boils and even cataracts were devised in the middle east and weren't known as solutions in the western civilization. Just because someone had a successful cure for some disease, it didn't make a feature story in Lancet. Quick scar healing is probably the same manifestation as the time warp travel.

On the other hand, I don't know of any eunuch armies ever existed for reals. Testosterone develops muscle, especially in young adults and provides some motivation for fighting as well. I guess if you are fat, old and haven't seen you penus in ages, I can see how it sounds plausible.

There was a discussion about it in series 5 I think, as to whether they chop off both "the pillar and the stones" or just one of them.
Eunichs usually just had the testicles removed because if you removed the whole thing in ancient times it would lead to infection and eventual death.

Remember they used to remove rooster testicles in those days because a rooster tasted better without them if it was raised in that way. Once farming got into better selective breeding the practice stopped and they just raised hens.

But yeah people knew how to remove testicles safely due to animal husbandry and used the same methods on eunichs.
The books say the Unsullied lose both. There was a minor subplot with some Unsullied indaboox paying whores to cuddle with them though, for emotional rather than erotic reasons. There's a small but nonzero chance a eunuch without testes but with an intact penis can still achieve erection. It happens.

Meanwhile indaboox it's implied Theon had the reverse treatment. Kept the testes, lost the penis.

Let's also mention that D + J = unification of North and South and that Tyrion is all for it only to get shot down by Vary who is suddenly a man of the people, despite dutifully sending assassins to murder Daenerys and whatnot after being the Baretheon spymaster.

Varys is the one that warned Jorah that assassins were coming. I can't remember, did they cut that subplot in the show?

Jorah is only in the show the way he is because he’s a fan favorite. Another failing of HBO/dumb & dumber.

he doesn’t get greyscale in the books

It's sequel bait.

HBO knows they're fucked without it, Dunk & Egg is like better Call Saul it's not gonna pull the numbers despite being associated with an acclaimed series. So now HBO is making their own GOT Timeline.
Better Call Saul has much better characters and a solid plot, though.

Endgame wasn't all sunshine and gumdrops ... Which made it satisfying for me. I didn't want the events of Infinity War to be undone, and they weren't. There are some huge consequences from that movie that are permanent, and Endgame handled that very well.

Game of Thrones is just a shitshow now. lol.

The problem is, piss off the fans with the main show ending poorly and who’s going to watch your sequels?

I thought the first show was set during the long night and would focus on the NK/First Men.

The direwolves were always done dirty in the show. I guess because normies will think dragons are cooler since empowered khaleesi owns them and uses them in every "badass" scene she has.
They didn't do the dragons right either. They've just done the direwolves wronger for longer.

Among the many crucial differences between the book and the show, raising the direwolves is what turns all the Starks into wargs (except Sansa, thanks to Lady's early death). In the show, only Bran's a warg, so the direwolves might as well've been adapted out. Lady might as well've been a regular dog.

The dragons didn't have it quite that bad, but they still fucked up even obvious dramatic beats (why not make the ice dragon the one dragon Dany actually rode? whatever happened to "the dragon had three heads"?). And they've made it clear none of it's leading to a real payoff.

It was known, maybe not well-known. I did a paper on this in uni and Avicenna's texts were reproduced and highly respected. Your average village doctor may not have known about his work though.

Nah, they butchered that too. Eddard Stark rescinded it when he was Hand in S1 and told Varys to call it off but he replied it was too late. Varys comes off as an shallow palace courtier, nothing more.
