Gamefaqs - An old gaming website that still exists somehow

Not me but sums up my feelings mostly (although I felt for the last couple years I was on that the gimmick accounts were the only entertaining ones).

Krystal was a horrid community manager but it was clear Error and other mods had it out for her for getting the job. IIRC error was one to always point out he "told" her to not interact with CE and social boards. And there were those few times her and mods got into bitch fights on...Hellhole? Whatever the mod/contributor board was. This was AFTER she got fired of course. Also the few times Error ever seemed to cut me slack was when I'd imply or flat out say she got the job cause she was fucking the other admin...Devin I think?

Looking back we were all shown a ton of leeway with how much shit we gave Krystal and it's obvious its cause all the mods held a grudge.

I was there loooooooong before Obama, and CE was already insufferable, just, in different ways. It was full of smug fedoralord atheists who'd act haughty because they listened to Pink Floyd and hated all modern music of the time. Like I even remember one of them posting under the name "Cheezmonkey". Googling him only brings up this, so I guess he's long gone.

If it weren't for politics, CE would be full of people getting smug because they watch Rick & Morty.

Status update: I finally have an answer why "I am an anti-racist" can get you banned from Gamefaqs. FOUR MONTHS LATER, with the occasional PM sent to the admin (who finally answered, under threat of banning my main if I asked him anything else again), it was for...suspension-dodging.


A "rule" which their own lead mods, at the same time, are telling people does not exist!

The first reaction when I revealed this response was "lol wtf that's a rule?" I also don't know why Allen considers it "making trouble" to oppose racism on an alt.

Their own leads don't know what the rules are - or are intentionally feeding people false information, which is sadly another plausible option considering how terrible their mod staff is.

Is any other site this inept?

Oh man, this takes me back. Crazy to think how all the "shocking" stuff that took place on there was incredibly tame by today's standards. They even had a swear filter! I remember posting on USL which people thought of as a poor man's LUE, but it was a great little community on its own. I never got to experience LUE because I first joined in late 2003, just after the famous SteriLUEzation incident. Also suicided a number of my accounts for a laugh and I'm certain I was a KOS user at one point (KOS standing for 'Kill On Sight', which means the mods ban you right away without the procedures they had in place)

I feel like GameFAQs laid the foundations for websites like 4chan and Reddit with its strong meme culture (or as memes were known on there, 'fads') and how there were dedicated boards for pretty much every interest and hobby imaginable. Before 4chan, a good number of prevalent internet memes of the time originated on GameFAQs, such as "all your base are belong to us".

Did anyone post on any of the spinoffs? I'd go on The Outboards, CABLE, Frozen Oven and Darkside Legion, the latter on which I encountered and butted heads with the infamous BRM, probably the most notorious KOS user, who was basically a proto-/pol/fag and I wouldn't be surprised if he was one nowadays.

I remember when anyone would be called a troll for liking Final Fantasy 13.. ah the good ol' days. I remember the Verus 13 board and constant debate if the game would ever release (it didn't) lmao.

Never really looked at the boards. I will say that gamefaqs provided a loooooot of help for me throughout the years. That was pretty much the only place for that kind of content in an easily findable manner.

Not a troll, I've met her twice before by pure happenstance. She just passes really well and without much work, for whatever reason. I haven't talked to her in over a decade, but she wouldn't be part of the current tranny/transtrender movement. She's an old school transexual who just wants to live her life. As I recall, the only real tell that she might be such is her voice still needed a lot of work. First time I met her, she sounded like a drunk trucker. Second time was more like a metrosexual duck.

Krystal has always been a raging cunt who takes things way too seriously. Any time there was a thread about possible features on the contributor boards, she'd flood the thread with two paragraph responses to every suggestion about how every idea except hers were dumb and oh woe is me. When she finally quit some years ago, she would still (and likely still does) the same old shit, but now people can call her out on it since she's not part of the protected class.

Even if your account is banned, gamefaqs still has your email for that account, even if the account has been banned for years. You can still log in and update your email address and personal info, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING THIS.

There is a good chance you registered with an account that directly identifies you when you got banned when you were a stupid teenager, and gamefaqs still has this on their servers. Just because you got banned doesn't mean they delete the account.
