It's flat out surreal how little the passage of the last six years matter, American society is in some way flash frozen in August of 2014 just like we're flash frozen in November of 2016.
Six years is a pretty good length of time, but not once has the bleating over Gamergate let up at all.
Is this just the way it's going to be forever? Has American culture solidified into a gridlock that it just can't get past?
It was truly a redpill moment for just how fucked up the mainstream media and the left wing can be for the fact that they took some blowback over gamers being dragged through the mud and thought it made gamers like a literal ISIS type group, it's sickening.

I don't think it's totally frozen in a gridlock just yet.
Really, I think the Woke Left's in a gridlock and they've got a lot of undue influence because the corporate elites find them useful. If they lose 2020 and suffer other defeats in the financial and political areas, that usefulness will turn into liability.
I checked out the China Floodwatch thread and apparently there's been recent severe flooding in Southern China that's so bad it's spilled over into Vietnam but the CCP's media is completely quiet as always.
If we do get a best-case scenario where woke leftism is no longer useful or profitable, then Millennial SJW's raving about Gamergate will be like Boomer hippie burnouts complaining about Nixon and "The Man" or Gen X punk burnouts bitching about Reagan and acting like Pat Buchanan's still relevant in any sense of the word.
Four years of Trump could also burst the hold that intersectional leftism has over the colleges thanks to the executive orders that specifically target Critical Race Theory and intersectionality theory and use the threat of federal funds being withheld from companies and institutions that teach and support it.
Guys like Zuckerberg and Bezos are extremely mercenary and will gladly hedge their bets to ensure they are still ahead, which explains a lot of the recent crackdowns on Antifa groups in addition to the usual mass ban on any positive or even neutral statements regarding certain right-wing topics.
The only ones who I can see being true believers would be Jack Dorsey and some of the mid-level suits at Disney, Warner, and Sony like Kathleen Kennedy and Neil Druckmann or your "big fish in a little pond" guys like the clickbait mills. There's also George Soros who is one of the biggest of the bigwigs, but he's an elderly semi-corpse and it's possible his son might not be as ruthless or as competent as he is.
Bob Iger's an egomaniac but he's already set up his golden parachute complete with his fall guy successor lined up to take the throne and will be out of the picture literally next year. The clickbait mills were dying even before COVID-19 and the pandemic has taken a baseball bat to the groins of even the most invincible companies of the 2010's like Disney.
Dorsey's the one "true believer" in the bigwigs who'll go down with the ship. Zuckerberg, Bezos, et al will be the kind who gladly switch sides and back who they think is the winning horse for their own personal gain because they're self-interested snakes in the grass.

I want to believe you're right but the cynical side of me says that the SJW vs anti-SJW conflict is just the way the culture is going to be for the rest of our lives, because the SJW side sure as fucking shit are not going to concede or admit they were wrong about anything one iota.
It's just the fact that the bleating about Gamergate has not let up one iota in 6 years is what makes me think they'll literally never let it go, they'll still be using Gamergate as a boogeyman decades from now.
Because it's just not natural for this stuff to hang around for this long, think back to all the outrage over the Iraq war and "9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB!" hoopla in 2006, by 2011, 5 years later, no one gave a single shit about the Bugbears of the Dubya years, the left had just moved on, but we here are 6 years later after Gamergate and they still never stop bringing it up at the drop of a hat, I certainly would have assumed it'd be forgotten by 5 years back in 2014 but I was wrong.

One thing you'll see a lot of if you follow these assclowns is that every time they lose, they're completely incapable of ever letting it go, and they will persistently take the wrong lessons home from the experience. Like, no exaggeration, they are fucking visionaries when it comes to not learning anything from their failures. GG happens because of their own incompetent actions, and of course, none of them pick up that those actions were in any way in the wrong, even when those actions are patently obvious in their flaws to others. Trump happens, in no small part, due to the political establishment they side with, and they refuse to even acknowledge his legitimacy. They're following the exact same path they did in 2016, and despite being dozens of times more overt than they were in 2016, all evidence is that they're going to bomb with the force of a MOAB come November because they learned absolutely nothing from the last time we were down this road.
No matter how the vote actually pans out, however, the extremist left has blown their load and then some. They're going to be cracked down on hard either way, either because Trump gets in and has zero fucks to give at this point, or because Biden does and the extreme-left is a dangerous liability that needs to be purged.

The "gamers are dead" article is a perfect example of that, did they really not think that was gonna piss some people off? And how is that not a disservice to female gamers who love video games, who still want to call themselves gamers despite "sexism" (going by their narrative) to then drag the identity of gamer thought the mud like that? Rather than saying "hey, not all gamers are sexist" it was "RARRRRBLUGBLUGBLUGBLUG FUCK YOU GAMERS! GAMERS ARE ISIS! RARRRRBLUGBLUGBLUGBLUG" and somehow they didn't think not everyone was going to like that.
Because that's what bothered me the most about it, putting aside the issue of Gamergate itself and whether it really was just a bunch of sexists or whatever, the fact that they so quickly wanted to smear all of gamers and gamer culture with it was just wrong, it was fucking wrong and they will never admit that.
The left wing's playbook for years has been thus, needlessly antagonize people, like feminists drinking from cups labeled "male tears" and then act shocked, just shocked that not everyone likes them, gee what a fucking mystery as to why that happens.
It's like they purposely go out of their way to makes things worse for themselves, they pick fights that don't need to be picked, they work hard at making people hate them, it's a fucking science to them to figure out just the right buttons to push to make people angry, like the whole "have sex incel" or "basement dweller" or "neckbeard" or trying to take away sexy women in media and so on.
And to some degree that is the point, they need an enemy they can point to to justify their narratives, that's why they go out of their way create conflict where there doesn't need to be conflict.

But one major difference to sports movies: You can show someone batting an unlikely, game-deciding homerun for that glorious shot of them running from base to base as the crowd cheers to show that their triumphant, hard earned victory. Or like in Cool Runnings, where the Jamaican team carries their sled over the finishing line when everyone else claps.
It's just not the same with eSports. What are they gonna do? Show us one of the chicks do a 360 noscope to win the round? Instead of cheering crowds, we'll see an overlay of Smileys or what?

Needless to say the Streisand Effect kicks in and the story goes nuclear. People look into Zoe, and connections to the IGF and Indiefund are both found, as is the fact that she was quite literally fucking her boss at the IGF, something backed by her ex-boyfriend's evidence.
3. Articles covering Zoe Quinn keep disappearing, including from platforms with longstanding neutrality and allowing any content at all. 4chan and Reddit are completely swept of any content covering her. It soon comes out that the Mods are doing it for free, and her personal ties to mods with both sites are quickly exposed, as is her own involvement with shutting down threads on both sites. The Streisand Effect continues. Zoe's nudes come to light, as does information from her other ex-boyfriends.
4. Fourteen allegedly-competing publications run the same story, citing the same sources, using the same general wording, over the span of a few days, directly in response to the exposure of the internal mailing list of multiple big-name game journalists, a smoking gun that shows that not only were they conspiring to bury the story for months, not only were financially supporting Zoe the entire time, but were actively trying to find ways to quash the scandal before it got too big. The response effectively decries the gamer identity as "over" and suggests that video game companies should stop catering to an audience that buys their products. Needless to say, it becomes an immediate sticking point as the war intensifies.
5. The Gamergate hashtag forms in response to attempts to bury the Quinn Scandal and the "Gamers are Over" incident. The Journos try to crush it, only bringing it awareness. While they do succeed at poisoning the well on normie sites, They do so by absolutely fucking everything they touch and pissing off every neutral party that refuses to bend the knee. This leads to surreal shit like Anne Rice, William Shatner, and Richard Dawkins all supporting GG, not because they have any dog in the fight, but because the Antis antagonized them into telling them to fuck off.
6. CON Emerges to try to legitimize offense against GG. It successfully defunds 8chan by having Laurelai Bailey planting CP on the site for Dan Olson to "find," whereupon Dan writes a massive expose on it in which he basically admits to looking at CP. While /hebe/ pre-dates the attempted honeypot, Bailey and Olson's involvement is quickly discovered by EDiots covering both Lolcows, and evidence is secured of their involvement. Dan Olson continues to be jokingly called a Pedo to this day. CON goes on to have more sex offenders exposed within its ranks, and continually fragments and disintegrates as Quinn and company struggle to contain the massive Autism of its members, who include Jake Alley, Israel Galvez, Aaron Simpson, and many more. This eventually leads CON to self-destruct entirely in 2015, though it doesn't officially get acknowledged as dead for another year.

Wu comes on strong, blaming GG for killing her dog (she left it to freeze to death) and claiming an SA troll was a legitimate threat to her life, going on David Pakman and getting absolutely gobsmacked by him asking actual questions, and generally coming across as a fucking loon before the fabled Deagle Nation/Brianna Wu crossover event occurs and we hit meme singularity status. Wu finds herself outmanuevered by Jace and company on multiple occasions, including one where she sends a hitpiece journalist to interview Jace and Jace got him dead to rights. 8. GG initiates operation disrespectful nod and drives advertisers away from various clickbait sites in droves. The damage they cause to Gawker is initially labelled as around 2-8 million dollars, but according to internal documents, the combined damage of GG driving away advertisers and keeping away prospective new ones bled the company of nearly a dozen times that number, and many employees of Gawker blame GG for the company's death more than Hulk Hogan. None of this would have been possible if Gawker's employees hadn't been gigantic pricks on Social Media, their every comment being used to tighten the noose around their company's throats.
9. The SPJ Airplay event happens, and gets multiple bomb threats. Arthur Chu implicates himself like a dumbass and gets a visit from the Feds. Arthur Chu continues to act like a sped and it eventually comes out that he had an Ashley Madison account. It eventually comes out that he was so focused on GG that he neglected his wife until she leaves his ass in late 2015.
10. Multiple sex offenders, pedophiles, and rapists are uncovered within Anti-GG. Sick Nick Nyberg in particular becomes a sticking point the Antis can't simply divorce themselves from because Nyberg is someone they all very publicly supported on many occasions. They leverage everything to shut down evidence of Nyberg's desire to fuck his own underaged cousin, and fail utterly because the logs can be proven legit just by the timestamps in them. That's a fantasy movie then. While technically there are no male-only esports competition, female players don't play with/against male players because they aren't on the same level. There are countless stories about the female esports divisions that are build as a "you go gurl" state of mind, where everybody wins no matter the score, lots of money and expensive gifts. Some male players who aren't big performers have noticed it and became trannies and are now on the top, making the f*male players seethe (there are articles out there about the "first female to win X" and it's usually a tranny).
That's the funny thing about the pro scene, they're all asians, no matter where the team is from. Commentators use the term "foreign" for non-asians.

The whole thing was such a horrible shitshow that truly set the tone for the modern world, I miss the days before all that shit so fucking much, but it also really speaks to the true power women have in our society, some people simply can not call a cunt a cunt no matter how big of a cunt they are.
