So she didn't work on the engine. Just did marketing.
She didn't work then period, all she did was show up for a diversity headcount and 10% of the people did the actual work while 90% sat on their ass.

The fucking term boys club has been outdated for decades. It makes you wonder who's more stuck in the past. Because these people have had nothing but concessions made to them and somehow it's still 1940 in America.

"Boy's club" = the atmosphere you're naturally going to get anytime you have a group of men working together, ie men being friendly and personable with one another etc.

It's only a problem if you fucking despise the very concept of men.

Austin Walker, huge Marxist, former Giant Bomb personality, and founding EiC of VICE Waypoint before getting demoted to contracted podcast host, will be departing VICE altogether through the typical journo-to-dev pipeline. He talks about it briefly on the latest Waypoint Radio podcast episode 420. I gander he most likely landed himself a writing role at a game dev studio of significance for upward mobility, as opposed to some tiny no-name indie company. For the project to be "so entirely up [his] alley of interest that it's honestly sort of funny" makes me think it's probably a mecha game. Maybe with some communist flavoring.

As an aside, I'm pretty sure that in recent years he's been making most of his income not from VICE, but rather his personal TTRPG show.

There will never be a more successful games journalist than this guy. Seethe, cope, dilate, call EA bad even though Activision is way worse and have been so for many years.

I can't remember the name of the film but maybe somebody knows.

Really fucking out there in terms of visuals and there's no story. But it's about the Director's deconstruction of a Madden game and how angry he was how the series fell from grace.

I remember the visuals being a bunch of walking monster vaginas to represent the other players being pussies and you had a transexual in a dress running across the football field in a bridal gown in real slow motion. I think it came out in 2013 or around that time.

There's a whole thing in the VIP room in the stadium where everything is vagina themed and everyone in there is wearing tuxedos and the table is one big cloth vagina and the quarterback fingers it and then his skin gets ripped off and then he's derezzed like in tron.

It's a 3 hours madden shitpost disguised as art. A man even shits himself to death in it.

Well, I'll be sure to completely dodge that game and studio. If his takes on Gundam are anything to go by, he can't write for shit.

He's only a marxist because his version of Marx has huge swathes of what marx actually wrote cut out. That's the thing with these people to them Karl Marx is Santa Claus who will make all their problems go away. The Marxist system involves putting the disbelievers through purges until only the pure remain, if you wanted to do this with genetics people wouldn't accept that.

No, he's a hardcore tankie so purges are part of the game to him. This guy believes a fictional hereditary dictatorship of space Nazis led by a family of Kim dynasty-style sociopaths who start a war that in a couple of weeks kills half the world's population with nuclear weapons and dropping space colonies (space colonies populated by people they allegedly are liberating) onto cities are the good guys in a Chinese cartoon about how fucked up war is. He doesn't care that they love gassing space colonies or committing all manner of war crimes or try to make the earth uninhabitable by dropping an asteroid on it, it's justified because they're communists and communism = good.

That's literally the gayest shit ever and requires 6 or 7 massive leaps in tech just to be able to bring about an outdated and obsolete form of world order that never worked to begin with.

Might as well do that just to bring about a Monarchy or a Caliphate.

"What Waypoint has meant to me"

> They paid me a bunch of money just for being Black and writing shit articles. Through my leadership the site never became anything worth mentioning and was a huge waste of an investment.
> What I thought games journalism needed was more Patrick Kleplek.
> They merged a bunch of our websites together to a point where I wasn't sure what my job was, but I was Black so the checks kept coming.

I hope he works at some awful studio but it seems like Austin is just going to keep failing upwards, so I imagine he'll have some hilariously lofty job that he's in no way qualified for.

On one hand, flickers of self-awareness. On the other hand the word "queer" has been used so much it has lost all meaning. The writer of the article keeps hiding behind it, but her status as a pure seems purely based on finding another woman vaguely attractive at some point in life.

I saw the same thing on Kotaku. They're sooo close to figuring out that their own side is pure poison and far more viscious than The Enemy(everyone else in existence). There were some angry people when they revealed you could play a lady in AssCreed: Total Viking, but I don't think anyone went directly to the voice actresses social media to shame her into repenting and/or dropping out of the job.

Boyfriend Dungeon Voice Actor Responds To Harassment Over Playing A Villain

A backlash among some Boyfriend Dungeon players over its story and content warning has even extended to one of its voice actors. Alexander Gross recently took to Twitter to talk about how some people sent him hate mail over his voice work for the game’s main antagonist, despite it being a completely fictional and separate character.

“I’m just his voice actor,” Gross wrote yesterday. “Please be respectful.”
...
“Hey I can’t believe I have to address this, but please don’t send me hate messages about my character in Boyfriend Dungeon,” he wrote on Twitter. “I know he sucks.”

To answer that question, I will have to regale you with a short history of terrible discourse. I am very sorry, but it can’t be helped. Strap in folks: It is time to address anti-shippers and—I hate this—anti-anti-shippers. “Anti,” in fandom hell, originally referred to people who did not like a specific relationship pairing. If I don’t want The Arbiter to oh-so-tenderly smooch Master Chief, then I would be a Master Chief/Arbiter anti. However, in 2016, the term changed to mean someone who was against the depiction of relationship dynamics deemed morally compromising, student/teacher relationships for example.

To be clear, this isn’t just about finding these dynamics distasteful; it is actively believing they should not exist or be depicted in media. Regardless of framing, tone, or content, the dynamic itself is fundamentally poisoned and encourages people to mirror it in real life. To be an anti, then, is to actively campaign against art that includes such problematic material, which is how we get anti-antis—called such because they aren’t for people making art about [enter problematic dynamic or relationship here], but they believe that said art shouldn’t be policed. The most dedicated antis say that anti-antis are pro-pedophilia, the most dedicated anti-antis say that antis are puritans and borderline fascist.

“I did not consent to this. I know for some games this is just par for the course[which games?], but it’s 2021 and I didn’t ask Boyfriend Dungeon to place me into an extremely distressing situation which, from what I can tell, I cannot opt-out of.” - you can opt out of it by turning the game off.

An amusing detail you might not have heard about the whole Boyfriend Dungeon kerfuffle is that right after character creation at the start, the game gives explicit warning of there being a loving mom character and gives the option to pre-emptively cut her out of the game:

So while there are lots of games that feature parental figures without issue, whether in a supportive or antagonistic role, the devs of Boyfriend Dungeon have considered that their target audience is likely to have huge mommy/daddy issues and will have a mental breakdown upon confrontation with a fictional parent, even a supportive one. And it seems that their suspicions were warranted given the audience's mental breakdown over the game's simp antagonist.
