Games With Really Spergy Fanbases That You Still Enjoy

Sonic. Even though the fanbase is a fucking abyss of cringe and Forces might have been disappointingly average, there are still an awesome backlog of games to play, Adventure 1 and 2 being my favorites.

Now if only Sonic Team's staff would stop jumping ship to Nintendo...

But how will the TRUE AND HONEST Sonichu game take form then?

I still love Mass Effect even though the last two games made the fanbase screech like banshees.

I loved ME1, and ME2 even more. ME3 was good until the last 20% or so where they threw the plot out the window wholesale. Andromeda was okay but it was more despite Bioware rather than because of it, if that made sense. The fanbase are still toxic as all hell though.

Yeah I’m not talking about the people who just didn’t like the games. I love 3 and Andromeda but objectively they both have major flaws.

I'm just hoping SEGA doesn't shitcan Mania 2 in an attempt to force more people to like Forces.

GTA 4, especially TLAD
Oh. My. God. I've spent years with these guys and it's easily the worst fanbase I've ever had to deal with. Many series have more autistic fanboys but at least those autists aren't complete toxic assholes. There's a whole cult formed around this game, when they just circlejerk they're harmless and funny (like when they praise GTA IV for having "deep moral choices" and think it's revolutionized storytelling in vidya while describing watered down features that've been in RPGs for decades) but they can't stand doing only that, they have to attack everyone who doesn't agree with them with jihadi-level rage. I could spend the whole week writing about them more and compiling a dossier of the more interesting individuals from their creed and I still wouldn't be done. Let me sum it up with this post I've caught:

These guys are at least so hilariously autistic you could probably take the Rick & Morty high IQ copypasta, change all the words relating to R&M with GTA IV and it'd fly over their heads, they'd take it at face value and agree with you hailing you as someone who knows their shit.

Minecraft. Which is a shame because now it is considered "a children's game". Autistic children aside, I have probably spent a few thousand hours in the game and I haven't gotten bored yet.

Call Of Duty

Granted every after Black Ops 2 and before WW2 was kind of trash I still enjoy the series.

Played DDLC before i heard the horrors of the fanbase. But other than that i guess Mass Effect (Original trilogy) i haven't touched Andromeda with a ten foot pole.

Not sure if anyone's ever mentioned this one, but Metroid.

The fandom is small, and admittedly a bit spergy, but I still enjoy the games in the series.

Command and Conquer had a really spergy fanbase as far back as 2006 and 2008. I haven't interacted with it in recent years however, but I imagine they've only become more spergy as time marches on. Modding communities in general seem to attract a fair amount of sperging.

Someone mentioned STALKER earlier and holy crap do they get fucking autistic over mods. God help you if you say you installed the COMPLETE mod ever. Also I think the MISERY mod they all jerk themselves off over is complete shit.

Co-op games in general can also be really spergy. I love em all but goddamn can people get pissy about them. L4D, Vermintide, Helldivers. The list goes on.

I've long since stopped playing the game but Mechwarrior online's fanbase is also a absolute hive of autismic rage.

I know they sperg out over Starcraft, but what else?

Earthbound. It was pretty quiet for a while, maybe a little drama now and then, a little cringe here and there. But now the Undertale fans are seeping into it. And they love to police shipping, more so than I'd ever seen in the fandom before (And like, why are we shipping these characters in the first place?). Still, it's my favorite game, and I enjoy talking about it and the other 2 games in the series.

I also like Pokemon. And the fandom for that is quite a doozy. I don't think I have to explain why on here.

The Sonic games up until the end of the Dreamcast era are really enjoyable. As long as you can divorce this from the degenerate OC-creating, fanfic writing fandom you're good to go. But Shinobi is Sega's best franchise IMO.

You pretty much have to have crippling autism to play Space Station 13, but damn if it isn't fun.
