Why is the face rigging so bad? Their mouths barely move, the puppets just kind of lean left and right, the head doesn't seem to turn, and the eyes constantly flitter like they're having a stroke. Doesn't that take you out?

I just see them as avatars. I do not think I am watching a real shark girl on youtube or whatever the fuck, I just see it as their character in the same way Grugchad the Orc is my WoW character. 90% of the japanese videogames I play dont bother with motion capture or animated sprites or shit either. I associate the voice and the character but rarely do I care about the second to second animations. My actual favourite streamers are Vinny Vinesauce and Oneyplays who never appear on camera in streams anyway
 
I find it way too hilarious that Azehara got faildoxxed in the Pippa thread and this was how he responded to it. Even actually going private for a few hours (I'm pretty certain going private was part of the shitpost).

If I was him I would have deleted 1 random, totally uninteresting tweet, and see how long it takes for people to notice and start furiously digging for what that tweet said.

Shylily's an independent Twitch vtuber rather than a corpo vtuber, which, with a small handful of exceptions, is a polite way of saying "prostitute". The model was absurdly expensive because of the needlessly high-detailed animations on the hair and clothing, and holding off on showing the goods until a milestone is reached helps recoup the costs.

One thing you'll notice with vtubing is that the more business-savvy ones will space out certain things like introducing new outfit designs, merch lines, song covers etc. to make them more of an event when they happen thus more profitable and more of a talking point. Doing "reveals" of certain things (whether that be tasteful things like alternate hairstyles or trashy shit like jiggling their jugs around) as an event plays into that idea, they can get more mileage out of the initial investment by drip-feeding it than by dropping everything at once.

vtubing is more than the avatar moving. there are people watching literal png-tubers.
the face or how little it moves is just a part of the whole package, which is the same reason a 100k model won't give you views if you behave like an annoying twat and/or have the personality of a turd.

otoh they put on a well enough façade and people are retarded, you'll always get some viewers - the difference is how much. there's a reason they're not cover-level. often it's not feasible for the time spend streaming or on the model. like most chicks on onlyfans only making below minimum wage (that's not the only factor, there are plenty of entertaining 2- or even 1views, that's more a matter of how crowded the market has become, discoverability, trends etc.).

They might not be cover level but they are still growing because they have access to large stream events https://twitchtracker.com/ironmouse/streams and the only other vtuber that comes close in size of viewers to her is Filian. https://twitchtracker.com/filian/streams Has there been any considerable growth in viewers lately for hololive? It feels like they have reached stagnation to me. How big is the gap to be cover level size, because unlike cover the streaming platform Vshojo is in at least sucks their dick and youtube does not do the same for hololive, idol corps or phase connect.

Cover might not have access to "stream events" (wasn't there a clip of Shylily being in her hotel room at the stream awards and some guy in the background is talking about wearing her underwear?), but they do some collabs that are way out of reach for someone like VShojo. E.g. Korones recent Racing Ambasador thing.
