We already know what his stance on the brace thing is going to be (coomply or else), but his silence on California's AWB being struck down is interesting. I remember a few years ago, when Ian was still involved, Inrange was going to do a video series on the best ban state rifle setup that wasn't a gimped AR. But, like their "Bump-SAW" series (where they were experimenting with the usefulness in a match environment of using a bump stock), it disappeared.

Know what else disappeared? Their levergun series, which was actually really compelling. What a shame.
Because of the bumpstock shit I think Ian took a huge step back with anything that could be seen as legally or morally dubious, which included pushing against/rolling over for gun laws. Similarly, making a "Good for Californians" build would gain them lots of notoriety from politicians there and, while it would put them in the news, I don't think Ian wants to be seen as a controversial figure and Karl may have been forced to realize that.
The levergun series, however, has been on the backburner for a long fucking time and Karl should be ashamed.

If there's one and only one thing I can actually listen to Karl talk about it's old west firearms, that project was announced almost five years ago and we have seen zero progress on it, even during the lockdown where he had nothing but time.

I get the feeling Karl is one of those people whose proud he has real SBRs and not "braces pistols".

But yeah there's a lot going on between the braced pistol change, cali's AWB, and the Waco kid you think Karl would at least mention something.

Karl is a Statist. He has no actual principles, just what he thinks would ingratiate himself to the powers that be. We call this being a quisling. Or a whore.

Tangentially related, I'm surprised the main reason for the focus on braced pistols isn't a flat out accusation of tax evasion.

To be fair to him, just about everything legal-wise these days is incredibly volatile and changes by the week, if not by the day. He puts out longform essays; doing so for a ruling that might be rejected or thrown out in a week is probably a waste of time in his eyes.

I think the arm-brace and bump-stock fuckery (among other events) made Ian realize that his channel is better served and safer from youtube's agenda if he keeps it as a strictly documentarian project, as opposed to attempting to tutorialize guns like he used to do with his old kit build videos and with the things he did on InRange.

Even the original WWSD rifle, at least from Ian's point of view, was meant to be a historical "what-if" scenario, not a "this part weighs an extra ounce compared to this other part REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" wankfest like Karl "Why Yes, I Will Do A Long Match With A 25-Pound Operator AK" Kasarda. The current incarnation of the project feels like something Ian lost track of and is only going along with because that's his name attached to it. I don't expect him to do much advertising of WWSD 2022 or whatever the next "model" is.

Fun fact: Karl is of Danish descent, but his family does not like talking about the side of the family still in Denmark. He briefly speculated they might have been Quislings but he doesn't know.

I knew it. Karl commercializes every black history month. He had to be a hypocrite or a complete retard.
I can see how a "reasonable person" can think they're not doing anything wrong because they're a small business creating free content so it's not hypocritical to call out the corporate queerbaiting from billion dollar companies, but that's not even the point. The Weyland-Yutani thing is usually posted by people satirizing BAE Systems and Raytheon showing up to pride events. The problem isn't making money, it's how they make their money. RECOIL throwing the gays a bone - pun not intended - isn't "bad" because they're not exactly selling weapons to the Saudis, but shouldn't make Karl gush either. He's just not self-aware enough to notice. In fact his self-awareness seems to be decreasing with time.

The guy is the definition of the "fed".

FTFY.

That's probably when his big daddy Agent Phagan turned him out.

Inflation is the highest it's been in 13 years, but that's still fucking nuts.

you can get LMT stuff cheap in November-December. I got a complete upper from mono brownells for ~500

probably shares a similar purpose to the experimental Desert Eagles of the 1980's and .50 Beowulf platforms.
I was under the impression that there was no actual basis to the idea that the Desert Eagle and .50 Action Express were ever intended for any such use, and that this was a confusion with the .50 Beowulf cartridge.

RECOIL throwing the gays a bone - pun not intended - isn't "bad" because they're not exactly selling weapons to the Saudis, but shouldn't make Karl gush either.
I have a vague recollection of everyone getting pissed as fuck at RECOIL for publishing some anti-gun statements a bunch of years ago.

a little of column A and a little of column B, .50 AE was marketed as vehicle/door busters same like the .50 Beowulf, but unlike the Beowulf, the prototype never went anywhere as breaching rounds and charges, alongside the newly invented "stop stick" deployable spike strips made it a non-starter in the US.

God damn, ATF just deregulate stocked pistols already, Jesus.

i want a fuckin Red 9 carbine like Leon from RE4

No joke though a stocked pistol carbine makes a great flexible home defense option but nooooo apparently it’s too fuckin dangerous or some shit. I wonder how many AR-15’s have been sold as a result of not having competition from stocked pistols. How’s that for ironic you ATF fucks?

Someone probably lobbied for that to sell more product. Some of the gayer ATF restrictions are anticompetitive practices to make US gun manufacturers richer. See: bans on buying imported surplus, to drive up the price of AKs and SKS and make people buy ARs.
