CRS Firearms sentenced:
A YouTuber with nearly 200,000 subscribers was sentenced to five years in federal prison for detailing how to convert a semi-automatic rifle into an illegal machine gun, prosecutors announced.
Matthew Raymond Hoover, a 39-year-old from Wisconsin, ran an account called CRS Firearms, where he advertised tools called Auto Key Cards, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. The cards were made of metal and laser engraved to contain removable pieces that could be assembled to form a “lightning link” which could convert semi-automatic guns into fully automatic guns.
Hoover’s video advertising the product – in which he told viewers they could “drop it in your receiver, scratch your full auto itch, throw it away when you’re done” and “no one’s the wiser” – led to a “substantial increase” in sales for the devices, according to the attorney’s office.
The seller of the devices, 43-year-old Kristopher Justinboyer Ervin from Orange Park, Florida, described his product as a “pen holder,” a “novelty,” and a “political sculpture,” according to prosecutors. Ervin sold the devices on a website called AutoKeyCards.com, which has been seized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The tools cost just over $100, according to a screenshot from the website. Prosecutors said he sold over 2,000 Auto Key Cards in the span of just a few months.
Both men were found guilty of conspiring to transfer and transferring unregistered machine gun conversion devices in April. During the trial, multiple buyers of the Auto Key Cards testified that they heard about the product through Hoover’s YouTube channel, according to the attorney’s office.
Ervin paid Hoover for the advertisements on his channel by sending cash through the mail, and once even sending a Louis Vuitton purse, according to prosecutors.
The ATF was initially tipped off about the scheme when Ervin’s bank contacted the bureau in early 2021 about their suspicion the man was trafficking illegal gun conversion devices, according to court documents.
Federal agents then surveilled Ervin and intercepted “dozens” of packages he dropped off at a Jacksonville-area postal office and found the illegal devices inside each package, prosecutors said.
Investigators raided Ervin’s home in 2021 and seized over 1,500 Auto Key Cards, prosecutors said. Following the raid, Hoover posted a video in which he described the tools as “a drawing of a part that used to be used to make a machine gun like 30 years ago.”
He also discussed the possibility of federal agents pursuing conspiracy charges against him, which he said would be “next to impossible to prove.”
Ervin was sentenced to five years and eight months in federal prison for the conspiracy, and also for structuring cash withdrawals from his bank to hide the proceeds from selling the devices.
Hoover was ordered to forfeit the $68,000 involved in the structuring offense, according to the attorney’s office. He was sentenced to five years in federal prison.

A funny amount of drama is cooking up over the Promethean LP-1 red dot sight. Lead & Steel, the manufacturer, is threatening litigation on some youtuber that did a review on their red dot sight that wasn't favorable but they're suing over defamation from the youtuber's comments about how Lead & Steel may be paying people to shill their product.

And it looks like Cinnabun's (Sinistral's) comment is deleted or at least suspiciously missing.
I forgot to mention this: Recoil Magazine's editor, Iain Harrison, is the guy that did a torture test of the KP-15 with Sinistral and Karl. He is one of the principal investors in the KP-15's tooling for KE Arms and is a local mutual friend of at least Sinistral, so these guys are basically going to be unanimously taking a side on something if they do take one. I covered this back in this thread more thoroughly at the link below.
