James Reeves of TFB TV released a video on Clint Smith’s collaboration with Century Arms for a(nother) Thunder Ranch branded AK. Right out the gate James asked why Clint chose to collaborate with an AK manufacturer with a shitty reputation, Clint’s response of “we’ve had good luck with them” is less than a stellar response.
After all, Century Arms is not known for their QC. Clint and his other employee (Jack?) doesn’t explain how they’re ensuring Century doesn’t fuck it up besides stating they’ve yet to hear that any of the guns have gone back for warranty. The comments under the video are many variations of “this seems to be bad idea and harms my view of Thunder Ranch.” Maybe Century has their shit together and there won’t be any poor QC and this is a fairly decent value firearm for the guy who wants a turn key solution to the AK platform, but time will tell. At the very least James, who normally sucks Clint’s dick any chance he gets, is very softly distancing himself by maintaining a small degree of skepticism. If you want to take a gamble you can do so for the low low price of $1,000 bucks.
Clint is struggling for relevance after the market is awash in BTDT dudes with 20+ years of GWOT and modern police experience.

Pat Rogers kept up with the times until he croaked.

IIRC the last TR rifle was an AR done by Wilson Combat.
It was by Aero Precision who interestingly through the coof period has had bouts of poor QC too, with bad machining on BCGs, among other issues. Though I’ve personally not had any issues with my Aero products. YMMV.
Wilson Combat had a 1911 Thunder Ranch edition
Mossberg had a couple Thunder Ranch guns a 930 and a 590 pump gun
There’s the high end AK they did
Thunder Ranch has had others too I’m fairly sure, they’ve done a lot of collaborations (other 1911s for sure).

Perhaps this is just my biased experience, but has anyone else noticed that YT vids seem to take a lot longer to get views than they used to? I remember that some time ago it felt like most YT vids would get 50%+ of their ultimate viewership within an hour or so of uploading, but now it seems closer to 10%. I assume this is either due to some fuckery with subscription notifications or a change in the algorithm that focuses on content that's at least a couple hours old for whatever reason.

I believe they changed how video views update, similarly to how they changed the way subscriptions update a couple years ago.

I came across one of these irl a few months back. From a quick search it looks like there's actually two of them. The one I've held is the model 21 in .44 special(going to assume S&W dug around for their least desirable classics style and stamped a TR emblem on) and the other is a tacticool .45acp model 325 with a rail.

My theory is that these companies come to Clint, pay him a fee(less than other influencers based on how many of these things exist), and slap his logo on product lines they're struggling to sell. The gunbroker search is a trip:
You can tell that the 590s with ugly ass furniture are struggling to sell, along with the VSAKs(probably part of why they can claim to not have any warranty returns).

Ian explains motives for his weird subscription service and says that it is already slightly profitable.

Some interesting insights on how YouTube fucks over content creators in there.

He believes that gun content on YouTube probably has <5 years left, which is why he’s trying to make as much money as possible from alternative sources.

Bought and paid for to do what? Write a book about the AK? Real deep cover asset shit.
TNSTAAFL. The book & his little trip(s) to Russia got his foot in the door, after that they were using him to beat sanctions & help sell/maintain presence in the US market; and he was happy to do it quid pro quo. Hell, it's in the indictment & message transcripts. They sure as fuck weren't going to just give him the AK-12 technical package & supply sanctioned parts on the DL, because Russians are generous & he's a famous American guntuber.

I'm sure he's cleared all (or most) of those with the guys in question, but man... I can't imagine at least some of the fans aren't gonna be really butthurt because I don't think he missed a single shot he took there. I was giggling like a schoolgirl the whole way through.
He definitely cleared it with them. Ian and Brandon appear in the video and most of the people featured left comments:

Yeah, I only put that "or most" in there because I have no idea what FPSRussia is up to lately. I'm glad these guys all have a sense of humor, though. A couple of the parodies ran a little long but the James Reeves' one had me in fuckin' stitches. Short and with a great punchline.

(Although between his habit of wearing short shorts, his sauna clips, and the occasional buck-naked Brutality stage, I think I've seen way more of Ian than I ever wanted to.)

If anyone has not seen Polenar's Shit You See at The Range and Guntuber Slander videos, I highly recommend them. In fact here's suggested list.
