That pornhub episode was pretty clever, and I think most PR professionals would respect the amount of publicity he got for minimum effort. If his content on InRange was better produced it might even have resulted in an increased audience.

What he should have done is upload unique video content that YouTube doesn't allow such as firearms modifications to Full30.

I like Forgotten weapons, but Ian is a bit like Tim Pool. YouTube realise they need firearms content creators (like they need right wing ones), so they've picked ones that will play ball with them, such as Forgotten weapons, Demolition ranch etc. Any YouTube creator that says they won't upload content to other platforms, is trying to keep in with YouTube.

On another note, have you noticed how McCollum doesn't have a Subscribestar. Even though guys like The Chieftain have. It would have cost him nothing to do, and there are a group of potential doners that refuse to use Patreon. He realises this himself which is why he keeps plugging the obscure platform he's signed up for "floatplane".

I'm taking a wild guess, but I think around about the time Patreon were kicking people of, they reached out to Ian to reassure him that he was 'one of the good ones'.

It was clearly with IV8888 - it had something to do with him having wrongthink about the recent unpleasentness. (no idea, don't watch*) Othias was just brought up in a sideways kind of 'ugh, he puts up with this shithead' kind of way.

That's just amazing. The C&Rsenal channel literally never ventures into politics, in the way that Kucksarda claims he doesn't (while repeatedly being a huge faggot). And Karl is annoyed about hillbilly actor IraqTruckDriverHEILHITLER, who actually does frequently express culturally conservative opinions, being friends with Mr. McCarthy? Sounds like he's just pissy over some old SA forum drama.

I don’t know any specific behind the scenes drama, but I do know that IV8888 has been on Stephen Crowder’s show and seemed to be a big, fat, gushing fan. That alone may be enough to leave a bad taste in Karl’s mouth.

I like IV’s Q and A’s but stopped watching after a collab he did with Warrior Poet Society about home defense where he basically said “i keep guns staged all over my fucking house because you never know...” and I honestly couldn’t tell if they were doing a bit or if the man is just a sociopath. Looking back it’s funny, but it made me reconsider some of the commentary he’s done.

Here’s the thing; I liked Ollam’s appearances on InRange because he had some great physical security advice and off-beat commentary. Literally today though, right before clicking into this thread, I was thinking over an answer he gave at the end the New Orleans Q and A (the one with the TFB TV guy, who is also typically pretty good as far as gun channels go whenever he takes a minute to get Glock’s penis out of his mouth).

The question was about what interesting historical period they like/would live in or some dumb shit and Ollam said “Weimar Germany” because the police were too busy dealing with real crime to be fucking with the underground art scene, leading to a very interesting artistic culture.

This is a shitty fucking answer and says a lot about him.

1. I did a little reading in what passed for “interesting culture” in Weimar Germany and it gave me a little pause that someone would sign on to that kind of degeneracy wholesale. That “culture” was dominated by communists, deviancy and literal fucking Nazis so yes, definitely a win for culture, Jesus Christ.

2. If you’re okay with overwhelming poverty and crime to the point where the police are overworked, just because “the arts are flourishing” then you’re a fat privileged fuck. Especially considering just how bad a disaster the specific example of Weimar Germany was. It means he either didn’t have a concept of how bad it was or didn’t care, neither of which is a great answer. It reminds me of the general attitude we’ve seen this summer about how “the riots are justified” said specifically by egotistical assholes who are far from the destruction and have never built anything of value of their own in the first place.


So yeah. Ollam. Not a fan. And fuck Karl for hanging around his sweaty ass and still having the gall to judge others on their politics and the company they keep.

If your seriously worried about somebody breaking in it at least makes sense to have a couple guns stashed around so that if somebody breaks down your door you can get to a gun before they get to you. IV8888 is alright but I hate all their clickbate titles, and it's hard to tell which videos are going to be real reviews/interesting stuff versus just going maximum over-shill on something they're getting paid on/sell for a good margin.

Maybe having lived in a house with small children colored my reaction, but from what I remember it was a little excessive to say the least. Especially if someone like Warrior Poet Society, a man who makes his trade doing training and self/home defense education, was telling him to maybe cool it a bit with the cabinet guns.

Nutn says some dumbass stuff but he’s got a hard limit to his craziness and isn’t afraid to call out stupid fantasies people have about firearms. He’s a useful datapoint when it comes to in-depth reviews.

I like hearing different perspectives. When I first started learning about guns I had this naive assumption for some reason that everyone in the community was on the same page. If you’re paying attention at all you’ll learn quickly that there are vastly different philosophies, and that’s apart from differences in opinion based on flat-out misinformation or bias.

If I had to give any advice to someone where I was, it’s listen to everyone but form your own opinions. That, and a day at the range is going to teach you far more than even months of watching videos and reading articles.

So this might be powerleveling a bit, but fuck it.

A couple years ago, Karl was screwing around with a Tokarev, and he's always been a fan of the 7.62x25 round.

For almost a decade, I'd had a TT-33 muzzle brake sitting around, and worked out a deal with Karl to do some high-speed footage + video.

I sent the thing to him gratis; I didn't ask for a thing, and the last I heard was he'd installed it on a Romanian TT clone, but then I got ghosted about the same time he stopped working with Ian on the regular. Nothing has happened since.

I've occasionally sent inquiries, and the one reply I got was obviously not authored by Karl; it was a canned response that sounded suspiciously like he wasn't actually in control of his Facebook/email.

That kind of sucks. But, I suppose he's got access (or had, who knows) to tons of old weird stuff from Ian now.

That last part's interesting, though. I wonder if that's true - Occam's says he just has a canned replier going because he gets too many messages, but maybe it's some weird dom thing Ms. Noir had going on.

You've missed the real simplest asnwer. Karl isn't reading his email because it isn't enough of a hugbox for him. It's full of troll words like "how does it take three years to shoot a pistol on highspeed and see if the comp works?" and "you sound like a fucking retard with your continual spergouts and you should cool it with the politics because your political opinions are dumb and alienate viewers."

He's made 3 posts about it in 3 days- one of which was his drama post about hickok45 not specifically mentioning keyholing. He's been saying he found the reason in its design for why it keyholes and has contacted the manufacturers about it. He's making a really big deal considering even if he's right and they fix it then it's just making a shitty gun slightly less garbage.

I've worked a couple industry tradeshows, on both sides of the booth; and nothing has become more despised by vendors & industry media more quickly, than snarky independent YouTube vloggers, often with personal grudges against particular products/manufacturers/services.

The same was true with magazine writers in the past, but getting into public dickswinging contests with your publisher's sponsors never ended well.

Also, if y'all don't have Ian's Chassepot to FAMAS, it's well worth the investment.

The book is top notch, easily on par or exceeding the most hallowed Luger & Garand tomes in terms of content & readability, even for non-Francophiles & Lebel collectors (same difference). To be quite honest, I haven't seen anything new like it in a very long time.... Almost the kind of book you buy a bookshelf, just to put it on.
