Transgender discourse is nearly nonexistent in my second-world country, yet I keep following it in anticipation for the day when it gets imported here, as all other issues do. Our traditionalists take after their traditionalists; our progressives take after their progressives. It makes me wish the world was a little bit less connected to provide a buffer against idiotic and foreign ideas.

This one character in One Piece people keep holding up as great trans representation because "He doesn't let his giant boobs stop him from being a MAN. He dresses in feminine clothes that accentuate boobs but in a MANLY way."

Wtf is even the point? Not that I expect to get any answers here, but I genuinely don't get it and trying to ask anyone who felt that way would probably end with me getting blocked for TERFism or whatever.

I've definitely noticed a connection there, in trans people I know both on- and offline. A disproportionate number of them are "disabled" in some nebulous way. From browsing illness faker forums, I've noticed that a good number of obvious munchies are some kind of genderspecial as well. This kind of research is probably verboten for obvious reasons, but it doesn't seem implausible to me that mental instability/disconnection from one's body could manifest both as gender dysphoria and as vague physical ailments.

You also might just be seeing a correlation in terms of the health of the type of person who is online all day and sedentary enough to spend hours wondering if they're transgender. There is a higher likelihood both that a chronically ill person might have that sort of lifestyle since they are unable to be physically active, and that a non-chronically ill person with that lifestyle will become less healthy.

Autism can come with more physical problems than many people realize, so you might be seeing the results of the autism/trans crossover as well.

If these people really have a brain that developed in such a way as to make them "identify" as the opposite sex, then work should be put in to affirm that they are, in fact, the sex they were born as. This is especially true when the end result of affirming such delusion is self-mutilation. Perhaps giving hormones to dysphoric individuals IS the right way to go. But we have it backwards. We give estrogen to MtF's and testosterone to FtM's. If the problem is with the brain, giving hormones to exacerbate the issue is beyond fucked up. It's like giving a schizo a fuck ton of PCP! They're making the problem worse.
I think it would be best to encourage those who have feelings of dysphoria to speak up about it. That I can agree with the troons on. But the treatment should be testosterone for MtF's and estrogen for FtM's. You want to minimize the impact these delusions have on their lives, not amplify them! This may very well be a curable condition, even if conventional cognitive therapy is insufficient and drugs are required.
These may very well be people who need real help. If that's the case, when we give them drugs that only make things worse the results are on us. It's absolutely fucked up!

I apologize for the late reply but you do realize that excess testosterone given in the way you describe can convert to estradiol, right? That is why bodybuilders abusing hormones sometimes grow boobs. You can suppress this with another drug but it doesn't work that well and has its own risks (as does injecting testosterone into someone whose levels are normal). You would be trying to cure MtFs and making them grow moobs instead. And if you give women estrogen when they don't need it, you raise their risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

The endocrine system is a little more complicated than 'testosterone manly, estrogen bobs and vageen, why no add more?'

So I read some anti-tranny books recently, here are my thoughts on them

Irreversible Damage by Abigail Shrier - It's about the transgender social contagion in teenage girls. I had no idea this shit was so destructive and encouraging girls to mutilate themselves is another way transgender ideology is terrible for women besides entitled, misogynistic MtFs. It was a little too narrative-driven for my autist mind. Overall I liked it.

Men Trapped in Men's Bodies by Anne Lawrence - Written by an autogynephilic TiM and about autogynephilia in transgender-identified males. Very informative but super boring and a little hard to get used to. The quotes are just WTF like a pedo troon, leg brace fetishism, adult baby, forced feminization, troon zoophilic vore. I thought it was worth it.

Transgender Body Politics by Heather Brunskell-Evans - This is so boring I can't recommend it. It's about the British government, NGOs, and the NHS, and transgenderism. I just thought it was some anti-queer theory book. I have no idea who these people are and don't know much about British tranny politics or desire to learn. I feel like I got nothing out of this. This is a radfem book.

Some other ones I intend to read eventually are The End of Gender, The Man Who Would be Queen, Galileo's Middle Finger, and When Harry Became Sally. There's also the radfem one's Female Erasure, Gender Hurts, and Transsexual Empire.

I've been talking to two trans people advocating for kids to be able to take hormones before 18 who seemed completely okay before. I really don't know what to say or do other than they make me extremely uncomfortable, and also talking about low detransition rates as if there's no other variables involved. It's kind of sickening. They cited some detransition rates and a study of doubtable veracity around 0.476% or something.

Yes, there is a shitton of backlash against Ts. Grindr, the gay hookup app for men to find and fuck other men, has twisted itself within leftist idpol so hard that among doing things like removing the ability to search for guys by race, they allow both FtM and MtF trannies on this "man for man" app. Which is hilarious because it's one of the other. Either you let MtFs on because they're biologically male or you let FtMs in because they identify as male. But in this way, it just makes no sense. You can now get banned from Grindr for saying anything to the effect of "no trannies" in your profile. This is a moronic campaign they had called "Kindr" to try and stop guys from having sexual preferences. Most of the comments are critical of it because normal gay guys hate this kind of shit. It's the loud "queers" and "non-binaries" (just gay guys who think being gay isn't special enough anymore) who push this sort of shit.
