So it turns out to be a bunch of fuss over your typical summer popcorn film.

It's just drawn attention to the deficiencies of the product and the people involved, which otherwise would have probably slid.

Normal, sane people don't want a big dose of heavy, angry bullshit and drama along with their light entertainment. The nerds mass-downvoting it to 1 are probably retarded. A 1 is a rating that should almost never actually happen outside of shit like Manos the Hands of Fate.

I dunno, have you ever tried to watch an unfunny comedy? That could be worse than just a bad genre flick.

There's nothing worse than a bad comedy. Any other bad film you can just start riffing it, especially if you're watching it with friends, but a shitty comedy is just awkward to watch.

I remember many years ago I would go to a plasma center where they pay you for your plasma. You go there twice a week and you get paid about $75. Not bad considering.

Anyway, this plasma center would play movies as you sit there and they suck you dry. One day, they play the movie Bringing Down the House with Steve Martin and Queen Latifah. HORRIBLE movie. And being forced to sit there and witness it was torture.

I'm so sorry...!

It is extremely annoying. I don't even like Ghostbusters, but these people had to make a song and dance of it all and make a film a political statement instead of entertainment... Just like "GamerGate" - which I don't know much about - but figure was another feminist meltdown. Why can't they just leave everyone alone? Who is convincing people to push these annoying agendas?

Because girls need heroes. :stress:

(Never mind that all that other stuff us just as much hers as it his)

Growing up one of my heroes was Luke Skywalker. Not Leia, Luke. I couldn't relate to Leia because she was a princess, born with the advantage, and seemed to succeed at everything she tried. I related to Luke because I saw him struggle. I struggled, too. Luke made me believe I could overcome my struggles if I tried.

But I guess my childhood self was stupid to think she could look up to someone with a different set of genitalia.

Sarcastic PS - What if that dudebro identifies outside the gender binary or is trans? You stupid fucks don't know.

This just implies the little girl can't find any sort of role model with the original ghostbusters. If the movie truly does turn out be shit regardless of all the sperging fans and anti-fans, it wouldn't really be for the little girl. Even then, that can be thrown out the window because it's been said that the movie is PG-13.

Three movies, two cartoons, several video games, and has maintained an ongoing comic series with IDW since 2008. Guess that's not a franchise.
Also since I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the Ghostbuster threads, said IDW comic has had six female ghostbusters since 2012.
Not only that, didn't one of the cartoons and any of the video games have female ghost busters?

It certainly is a nice touch that they drain both your life force and your sanity at the same time.

I've never played any of the videogames so I can't speak for them, but yes both the Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters had female ghost busters. Janine went in the field several times in both shows, and her first time actually saved the team from a ghost that had captured them. The second show had Kylie, who was one of the principle cast members and is apparently the only one from that show to appear in other mediums.
In the IDW series Kylie worked at Ray's bookstore as a researcher before joining the main team. Janine also has a much larger role and had to create her own Ghostbusters team when the main team was trapped in another dimension.

I'll just say this: Extreme Ghostbusters was surprisingly good. Give it a chance.

Extreme is really good. Sometimes it's trying too hard to fit that 90s edge, but if you ignore it there is a lot of good stuff in it. The only thing I find annoying is that they say Egon is too old to be a Ghostbuster, when they clearly state he's only 39. Harold Ramis was at that age when filming the movie. Other than that, there's a lot of good episodes and it's fun to watch the new characters.
