You underestimate how much money feminists will dump into a cause that "redpill meninist misogynists" don't like *cough* Anita's entire career *cough*How many people are willing to pay for a ticket to watch the film just to stick to neckbeards on the Internet?

They'll defend it as one of the funniest movies they've seen in their lives for exactly one week and call it revolutionary for women in comedy and buy merch and see the movie again and then after that one week period they will never bring it up or talk about it again.

Well they'll still do it enough for it to be financially successful, just not enough to solidify it's reputation, that's what I was getting at. I could be wrong because genuinely this movie doesn't deserve success and justice might actually happen for once but between angry feminists and people who have been living under a rock and haven't seen anything about the movie and want to see it, I think it might have a chance. That actually proves my point.

Well yeah, but neither of those movies are nearly as popular as Ghostbusters, they each have their fans but they haven't made as large of an impact as Ghostbusters did both on viewers and in pop culture.Sorry if this is off-topic, but I don't remember any rage about the Dredd remake or the Total Recall remake (IMO, Dredd was all right, I didn't see TR). There was some irritation, but nothing as salty regarding the GB reboot/spinoff.
Closest reboot disaster that comes to mind is probably Jem but that franchise is no where near as big as Ghostbusters, one sneaky thing they did was ask fans to make a video about what they liked about the original cartoon and they then added it in the movie and made it look like they are taking about the reboot. (The Dragonball Z and The Last Airbender movies also caused a lot of upset fans but they're not exactly reboots)Sorry if this is off-topic, but I don't remember any rage about the Dredd remake or the Total Recall remake (IMO, Dredd was all right, I didn't see TR). Local man refuses to see movie, breaks internet. "He's a bigot and a terrorist," one woman said.To this day, I cannot believe how the Internet just completely lost its shit about how James Rolfe (AVGN) said he wasn't interested in seeing GB2016. Like, the guy got fucking trounced:

Also add in the countless articles from shitty clickbaiting journalists. Why make this movie the hill you want to die on?
Because there are those in the pro camp who think not liking this movie makes you an evil misogynist despite the fact that the movie itself doesn't interest everyone. Also add in the countless articles from shitty clickbaiting journalists. Why make this movie the hill you want to die on?
Remember when a movie came out in the days before social media? When people just liked or didn't like a movie?
