Careercow Glinner / Graham Linehan - Disgraced Comedian, Mentally Ill to the point of worrying his Family, Hypocritical Misogynist, TERF ANTIFA Quasimodo Doppelganger w/ One Ball & Hateboner for GAMERS/Trump/Brexit/Count Dankula; #ThanksGraham

Off-topic, but what's Simon Pegg done to -

Actually, no I don't want to know. This thread's made me lose respect for too many people already.

He gave an interview in the radio times in which he basically talked down to "nerds"
"Now we’re essentially all consuming very childish things — comic books, superheroes. Adults are watching this stuff, and taking it seriously. It is a kind of dumbing down, in a way, because it’s taking our focus away from real-world issues." It's all enough, Pegg concluded, to make him potentially "retire from geekdom" for good.

People got pissed as its an assumption we cant be an adult and enjoy classical literature whilst also enjoying Deadpool.
If youve made your money from nerd culture and are promoting a nerd culture movie maybe respect your fanbase better.

Like i said you can enjoy someones body of work without liking them.....that's how i deal with Hulk Hogan.

Linehan and another user got into an argument over the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox.

How the fuck did Father Ted succeed with that twat in charge?

Probably because it existed pre-social media, so Linehan never had the chance to fall into the echo-chamber.

It also 20 years ago, that's a not dissimilar time frame of Ben Elton going from outspoken left-wing comedy writer supremo to mainstream musical writer who also now writes poor/average comedy sitcoms on the side.

To be fair Arthur Mathews wrote a lot of it.
Hes always worked with good co writers until recently.....and it tells.
Yeah, and Black Books was written with Dylan Moran and he left after the first season. The show didn't suffer at all and some might say it got funnier.
Graham Linehan-The proto-Hayden Black.
I'd say he's more of a Mel Brooks: had the good fortune of working with very talented people, and when he's on his own he produces crap like The Walshes in the same way Mel Brooks produced rubbish like Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Dracula: Dead and Loving It when he didn't have Richard Pryor or Gene Wilder to fall back on. Except Mel Brooks is actually likeable as a person, so maybe the Hayden Black comparison works better.

A healthy dose of that but with a huge chunk of social media, fame and attention turning him into an asshole.
When you like at his peers and friends (Chris Morris, Dara Obrien, Armando Iannucci) he just fits the mold of cant be as smart of the rest so lets social justice.

Has he tried to latch onto the post-IT Crowd fame of any of the IT Crowd actors? I know Richard Ayoade and Chris O'Dowd have become incredibly successful in recent years and I know Linehan follows both of them on twitter.

Don't think so. Katherine Parkinson has done alright for herself too, but I doubt Graham wants that Malteasers money, Noel Fielding and Chris Morris were already successful beforehand and Matt Berry has buddied up to Vic And Bob, stalwarts of laddish comedy.

As best i know he hasnt
Hes keen to put distance between himself and his good shows....probably because they could be seen as problematic by his new friends.
Hes more interested in being taken serious and doing documentary about abortion and how horrible Ireland is.

Matt Berry was kind of successful beforehand too, he'd been on The Mighty Boosh and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Oh and he co-created Snuff Box with Rich Fulcher.

Off topic but fuck it
If any kiwi does not know what those 3 shows are then its your duty to find out.
Well maybe just stick to Boosh season 1 that other seasons are a bit all over the place...but just watch snuff box because its class and dark place is still funny after many repeat viewings.

I thought the hosts for The Sky At Night were Brian Cox and Dara O'Briain?

The one time I tuned in, shortly after Moore died, the main hosting duty was undertaken by (I had to look it up) Margaret Ebunoluwa "Maggie" Aderin-Pocock. And she was indeed dressed like a deck chair.

Sky at Night Specials about stuff such as certain showers, eclipses and stuff like Hailey's Comet are hosted by Dara and Brian, the regular monthly program is handled by Maggie Pocock and Chris Lintott.

To be fair to the BBC as much as we may joke about Maggie's questionable fashion sense, the relaunch of the show with a legit lady space scientist and putting Linott (a Professor of fricken Astrophysics) into the primary chair after the latter had co-presenting with Moore for a while was a really good idea, and it has kept the show on air and seen a mild increase in its viewing figures.

Black books definitely found its rhythm after the first season, when Dylan and Bill Bailey took over most of the writing and contributing.

To be fair to Robin Hood it was fairly funny when it came out. Not Mel's best work but solid enough.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It seems to be going through a Spaceballs style renaissance at the moment. Where there's a certain charm to it being one of Leslie Nielson's less known roles.

Off topic - I actually started with season 3 because I got into it back in 2008, not long after season 3 had just come out. Season 1 is the only one I don't personally like, it's not as wacky as the later seasons and is too plot based in my opinion.

For me it was the opposite
Later seasons were to self referencing and had forced celeb cameos. Theres still some great episodes and songs but Noel had to much hand in the writing.
Then again if you enjoyed the wackyness then Noels luxury comedy could be the show for you. Personally i thought the show was a hate crime.

But back on topic he really seems to be melting down quickly tonight.
People are politely asking hom to respect a womans death and hes just calling them racists and telling them to fuck off.
