GLITCH Productions - From the guys that brought you the Super Mario 64 bloopers

jesus dude you got a hateboner for Glitch?, why are you praying for their downfall so badly?, I know 3 out of 4 of their shows are a miss for me but damn calm down
I don't think anything in his post talks about praying for their downfall, it's more predicting how they will fall which is valid seeing as how nothing lasts forever and the entire vibe i get from glitch is a short lived good run, call it a premonition but I don't think their going to last forever, anything related to internet animation always seems to end in disaster most of the time eventually

I think you might be projecting some feelings onto me sir.
Frankly I don't really care tbh whether Glitch succeeds or not however.

This.
I'm just theorizing how it could happen. I mean let's face it, given the types of people infesting the company it's sadly a bit inevitable some big shitshow is going to go down and it'll all come crashing down. The question is just, where and what?

And the most important question... Will it be funny? I hope the answer is yes.

Rewatching the episodes of Murder Drones I'd watched before to see if I can comprehend what's going on better.

It's mostly working. I'm still pissed off by how OP everyone is, though.

Caught up. I think the show realized how annoying the Solver's powers were getting, so they stopped giving it Matrix powers, made Doll physical again, and just stuck to using it as regen and psychic powers with fleshy byproducts. I wish they'd tried retconning all the stuff from Episode 3 to being Doll using her illusion powers to multiply and resize objects.

Anyway I had a way easier time watching Murder Drones this time around. Dunno why. Maybe it's because I turned on subtitles for parts I was confused at and realized the Sharingan was an actual character and an eldritch cosmic horror. Plus I'm also noticing all the other horror movie staples that theme each episode rather than just Carrie.

It also annoys me how inconsistent it is. In Episode 1 J gets hurt by a fucking pen but then in Episode 7 she's basically eating 30. mm autocannon rounds from a helicopter in that flashback. (If you're not autistic and don't know what that is. Let's just say 30 mm caliber is not a round you're expected to be shooting at people for instance. That shit is normally used against vehicles and buildings. And judging by the most likely candidate for the helicopter we see. That's most likely what they were getting shot with.)

The Solver might as well be the Sharingan with how bullshit it's powers are.
Again, no idea how they're going to have it be defeated in a way that isn't going to seem contrived and or comical.
Honestly given how the series rolls it's a 50/50 whether it's defeat will actually be dramatic and serious or a complete joke (As in actually intended to be a joke ha ha please laugh...)

by the way, where are you guys hearing that the episodes were getting constantly being rewritten all the while the season is technically still "on-air"?, now I have zero experience as a screenwriter, but i broadly assumed you would lay out the story FIRST before committing to making any episodes, the only rewrite i have heard happened in the time between the pilot and the rest of the season when they decided to shift their focus more on the big scawy spoopy monster thingy, redoing the script WHILE the show is being actively worked on sounds completely infeasible, like that is pure incompetence even someone with no skills in writing would never make, and even if he did, someone at Glitch should have slapped him to stop doing that since it fucks with their production process as well.
LOL that you think anything that releases serially isn't being made up as it goes along. There is never a long-term plan that survives past the pilot. EVER.

Got some new info to drop, so someone at the Glitch Inn discord about Lizzy and Thad, asking why they are now being seen working together, so apparently, get this shit, they have been dating!, and will be revealed in episode 8, this fucking happened off-screen sometime post episode 4 (their last onscreen appearances until ep 7), keep in mind we didn't even know these two knew each other beyond being classmates and had barely any interactions

okay so this was an obvious sign of a rewrite, but what the fuck is even the purpose of this?, the two are basically irrelevant and had almost no impact on the plot, is this his way of making them more involved in it?

Seems more like a basic tenet of slasher movie writing. They're obviously going to end up dead next episode, so why not hook them up in their last moments so the audience gets that little bit more invested in them before J kills them in a gruesome setpiece.

I guess I'm not the only one getting a little impatient. Glitch posted this today and I'm already seeing multiple comments asking about where the fuck episode 8 of Murder Drones is.
I'd be fine with just like one preview image even like they did with the old episodes. Or like a general release trajectory just like ANYTHING. Again we've literally not heard a single peep related to MD itself since the original delay announcement before Episode 7 released and that was months ago.

EDIT: Apparently Michael Kovach confirmed in a recent stream that all of the lines for Episode 8 are recorded but for obvious reasons could not say anything else. It's something at least.

lmao
every character being a sociopath is okay because... IT JUST IS, OKAY!.png

he actually does make a point though, the tonal inconsistency is completely intentional and "part of his style" though, that's why I kinda find it funny in its own way, but I have no idea how he's actually, unironically still cares about these characters when they have the depth and likability of your average guy in an internet parody animation

There are commonly threads about the show at /co/ and /trash/.
I know that full well, I do frequently browse those threads, but i didn't hear anything about rewrites in-between episodes beyond what happened between the pilot and the rest of the season

That's what im saying, according to an AmA, the plans for the show changed from episodic SoL style hijinks with lore stuff happening in the background to a more plot-driven story where the presence of the main antagonist is far more pronounced and obvious

What I didn't hear is that there were rewrites occurring anytime beyond the year-long release gap of episode 1 and 2

You hit the nail on the head actually, right there. That's the root of the problem. This feels like a parody animation that we're supposed to take seriously for some reason???

Basically it feels like either Liam himself or Glitch decided "We want the show to be serious and plot driven!" without realizing Liam has no fucking idea how to actually accomplish that task, so you get this. I actually wouldn't even be surprised if it could be a case of Glitch making the suggestion and Liam not wanting to say "No." I mean who would say no to having a company actually fund your bullshit?

This sure would explain so much, considering how nowadays, any zoomer media (specially for teenagers) needs to be lore-filled piles of text, which can generate discussions and internet theories about said media.

There simply can't just be a funny show about vampire robots and violence, we need that eldritch horror maaaaan, we need to make things as complex as possible for the fanbase dude, we gotta generate attention, generate interaction. generate drama...

This discussion made me doubt if tonal shifts are actually a bad thing or does Murder Drones just does it bad, to the point that I actually watched one of Liam's other show (Internecion Cube), and after watching all its 25 minutes, I... I get it now.

Well, I get his style, don't think MD got any better because of it, but I get what Viam is used to, and tbh, I think Internecion Cube is quite neat, not amazing, but neat.

And that explains why I don't like the tone shift in MD but I like in Cube, it's actually two things:

1- Cube's tonal shift is more subtle. While the dialogue tends to be wacky and satirical, it never really de-escalates on what's happening on screen, it's dry humor done right.

2-Cube's plotline is pretty simple, there's no lore exposition every frame of the thing, so you can just enjoy Max and Ic-0n talking about sunny-side up eggs and wait for the cool momentto happen. I wouldn't mind MD's lore exposure if there were way more cool moments™, but this ain't no DBZ. they don't spend entire episodes on fight scenes, this is just 2 minutes of a fighting or horror scene, and 20 minutes of exposure that you can't enjoy because it's just too cramped in and you don't understand anything. Hence why we agree that it should be a more character-driven show (which Internecion kinda is), it's just more simple and easier to enjoy than whatever is going with Drones.

Anyway, probably sperged too much. Since Episode 8 is probably the finale, I can't tell in which route is better, if they gonna try to explain all the lore-related stuff or if they just ignore it and make it 20-30 minutes of Uzi throwing hands with Eldritch Horror Trojan Virus. Either way, I hope they make it good.

I didn't even think about that but you're probably right.
Gotta have something for people to theorize about to propagate engagement right?

Like I said, it feels like they're trying to copy the FNAF approach if that makes any sense.

In all honesty, It just feels like they are creating whatever would attract and keep an audience rather than actually make a story with it. You have all these wacky characters in a serious setting with whatever the generation is into as a base to every God damn thing they do.

It's literally the same things with Hazbin Hotel / Helluva boss. You give the characters slapstick comedy routine with a side of edgy fries and something witty to relate. They didn't need to make every single character in a pride banner for pride month but they did. Why? Because it's all about appeasing a fan base to keep it floating then actually putting in the effort to making a good story.
Practically anyone who actually enjoys murder drones is usually a mentally ill 14 year old with pure brain rot from being on the internet 24/7 with no concept of actually going out and making friends.
