Global warming/Climate change thread - is it real or bullshit?

I have found the final solution to the hippie problem.

It is called an AC.
Literally this. You fuckers aren't construction workers, just crank up the AC unit in your cozy home office while you sit in your fancy chair you bought off Amazon made by Chinese slaves. Over here in Utah, we actually had a cold start to summer this year, explain that

It's colder here this summer than it's been in years if not a decade or more. I'm sure some scientist could go "um ackshually" but I don't care, global warming sounds like bullshit to me.

We should be more environmentally friendly where feasible, but we can't turn society upside down. Plus, start by taking away billionaires' jets and yachts, then maybe people will follow suit.

The MO of the last decade is basically taking some areas of the 20+ countries/states people give a shit about and finding that one temperature spike and then making an entire media circus about it. Global Warming is real because..... Germany has a heatwave right now!

The summer already feels like it's cooling down and we're only in early August. I'm sure there will be another small heat squirt near end of August like there usually is but still, the heat didn't feel that intense. Must be the el nino pattern or something.

i have not had to put the a/c in this year at all so far which is surprising especially since my area tends to have pretty hot summers usually i keep hearing winters supposed to come in early october this year so we shall see.

oddly enough the way the weathers been as of late seems to line up with the stories my grandparents would tell me and it kind of makes me wonder if there is something about weather patterns we dont know or are not being told.

I am strongly on the side of caution since the worlds environment is so complex on so many levels that I would rather not screw with it that much. The current situation is okay in my book. Change has the potential to hugely fuck with that outcome. The shrinkage of the Alaskan sea crab population may just be one unexpected outcome. I do wonder how that will work out

So I would rather see us stop burning fossil fuels sooner than later.

I'm increasingly skeptical of the scientific legitimacy anthropogenic global warming. Culturally, it seems like a modern-day millenarianism for progressive liberals.

Even if it isn't a scam, I do not trust any of the people saying we need to change everything about the structure of our society and our way of life to stave it off. The assortment of corporations, NGOs, IGOs and global elites pushing this stuff are the last people on earth I'd trust on anything. They're all cynical, power-hungry and self-interested. The solutions they advocate for are not only unworkable and unrealistic (wind/solar instead of nuclear energy, replacing animal husbandry with insect husbandry, etc ) but are all tailor-made to enrich themselves and further ossify their power while making the average person destitute and dependent.

Even if you think anthropogenic global warming is real and a threat, the last thing you should want to do is give the people at the WEF and the UN the keys to power.

maybe it is real maybe it isn't, the only thing I know is that it is being used to push a society where people like bill gates and joe biden get multi million dollar homes and private jets and stuff while I am to live like a medieval peasant. Why do none of these climate grifters ever talk about china, india, plastics in the water, etc? No its only ever "stop driving chud". "Stop eating anything that isn't bug slop, chud"

slag off and leave me alone

Is human industry having an effect on the world's climate? Undoubtedly.

Is it apocalyptic? Of course not.

People have been blaming the weather on other people and predicting doom forever. Kinda sad it's still happening.

The only question you have to ask is this: If the relatively small amount of CO2 that we have released is going to cause run-away global warming, then why did the earth not turn into a venus hothouse during periods when the atmosphere had ten times more CO2 in it than now?

Isn't it because the CO2 increased slowly over millions of years, allowing Earth's life systems to adjust? It's true that Earth's climate has always changed, but the climate scientists' point is that the change has never been this rapid.

First, That's avoiding the main point. They say that the level of co2 in the atmosphere risks creating a runaway warming effect. It is the absolute level, not the rate of change, that they keep highlighting as a problem. The absolute level of co2 now is around 350-400 ppm. It has been as high as 3000ppm in the past, according to geological records. Those same records show temperatures do not correlate at all with the level of CO2.

Second, we have only been recording co2 levels for about a century, and only recording them in detail since the 60s or so. Temperatures, likewise, have only been recorded in detail for about 200 years. We can see rapid changes in temperature only because we're able to measure them, moment to moment. There is no way to claim, truthfully, that temperature changes were slow in the past, because the proxies used to ascertain those temperatures only reveal a low resolution record and effectively only show the equivalent of a few "meaurements" per century. The entire 20th century record would be invisible at that low level of precision.

I can hear the Joker saying his catchphrase "you get what you fuckin' desserve" to these climate activists in Germany being beaten by motorists.
