GVH on the other hand is fucked from the outset since

1. It's still a laughinstock and a meme.
2. It will never be something honest and heartfelt. You can't be honest and heartfelt the moment you have to fear stepping over eggshells over what you can say or do or show.
3. It's taken too long for what it was supposed to be. So now they are stacking extra pressure since, like how Lucy knew deep down that 2 bass on a band was too much for her, they will add junk to ty and standout, fail miserably and become even more of a laughingstock.

I certainly look forward to this thread creeping back up on 2025 when they release whatever crap they manage to tape together.

I am not defending ko_op or anything, but I do actually want to be fair to them and the game.
In terms of scope and what they are atleast saying the game will be is much much bigger, many more choices and actual animation to name some of the stuff.
The writing will most likely be bad, but at least as a game it is atempting to be more than just a simple vn
 
the small bits of gameplay in the trailer really make me feel like this was designed to be a telltale-like game.
actions have timers, small bits of animation playing during choice scenes, most actual >gameplay being glorified QTE sequences, and "your choices matters" being a selling point for the game.

there's a reason why telltale crashed and burned after using the same gameplay formula for about 10 years.

This is why I like 3's ending a little better than 4. 4 just comes off fake, like "haha guys, isn't it funny how all that drama happened? BESTIES FOREVER!"
 
Also, meethinks the scope expanded in the last trailer. From what they initially had in mind. Just seemed like a VN, probably very fucking linear but with a lot of audio and visual flair.

Hard to say whether the scope expanded or shrank based on the last trailer because no little was known about the game, we knew it likely had QTE minigames and dialogues choices and thats it. I doubt we'll ever know what the plan for GVH was at the start unless one of the devs wants to burn bridges and talk about the development hell the game is stuck in.

As other people said earlier, the 4th ending is the true and best one in the sense that people effectively change for the better if you think about it. Hell, even Trish manages to become a better person. I think that the 3rd ending is a "good" but bittersweet one because you still manage to marry Fang (or Lucy in this case) but she becomes emotionally attached exclusively to you: the attachment is transferred from Trish to Anon so... Can we really say that things changed for the better for her? At least that's what I think to be honest.

Pretty much this, sure Ending 3 ends up well for both Anon and Fang but Fang gives up so much of herself along the way that she effectively becomes an empty shell. She's still the same confused and damaged person she was in highschool and so she hasn't improved, just changed her aesthetic.

Edit to add: For what it's worth I do agree that the whole "besties forever!" part is a tad too saccharine. Yes, most people aren't going to stay connected at the hip after highschool lets out and there's nothing wrong with that, especially if they're a poisonous person like Trish was, but the point of Ending 4 thematically is that everyone gets to grow and that includes Trish. Except for Reed, but he still seems happy and fulfilled in the end.
 
Whelp, did all bonus bits. I love these sort of pseudoepilogue things in any sort of story, so found them ver enjoyable.

Bowling with step dad, just a stupid but fun little vignette. Naser beeing a cheeky fuck about not letting a cripple carry the balls and Anon shittalking all present was fun.

Anon retarded stream was pure fun, specially with the Stella reveal.

PTA meeting just for the English teacher faking it gag was worth the it and Spears is always a good time.

Trish trilogy. Adds some context to why she would be unstable and susceptible to stupid. Cute moment, specially the band rocking together or Anon playing with the kids, but that's all I got out of it.

Naomi trilogy I found more compelling purely on seeing Lucy deals with the long range relationship as well as little nugets like her taking care of Raymba or constantly playing with her neakless. I honestly don't get why Naser broke up with Naomi if he "was worried", was it about not shackling her to him? Would have made more sense to me if it was just him being tired of being smottered honestly.

The Raymba chronicles were adorable. I do find it very rich that Naomi and Lucy would ever live together but a part of me enjoys the idea in a sitcom sort of way. Though I would have appreciated some better art for the final shot and I am absolutely offended the child looks so much like Lucy and nothing like anon, I was promised a sin against god and demand it!

On the unrealisticness of the sugar high that is ending 4, I find 3 just as unrealistic.

I can definitely buy allienating and dropping all contact with Reed and Trish, but with Stella and Rosa? And specially, dropping music? Fuck no.

In the same way I have a hard time believing Trish would stop being an insufferable cunt or that Naomi and Lucy could ever patch things enough to be roommates. Anon not being too botheted about being exposed as a weeb I could perfectly believe since he does have a cute ptera gf which makes everything better though.

But I get this is a visual novel that wants distinct endings, not a realistic representation of how things would pan out (which I think would be a mix of 3 and 4). Also, true endings on VN fot the most part tend to be the catharsis since the rest tend to be a ride for the most part. I see why cavemom locked the true ending on something a player would be very unlikely to do (never interrupt Lucy in the roof).

Basically, my final point is, I got a tragic shooting/suicide ending with a nappy haired uppity trigga surviving it, I deserve my fucking sugar high ending with happy waifu dammit!

On my VN scale I rate it pretty highly, it doesn't meander, and though it's routes branch later than I expect, they are distinct enough (and well, I'm aware this is a very humble project). I also enjoy edgy and meme humor which is something very rare to see. Making me want to redo Katawa Shoujo...

Exactly! I wanted to add something to Snoot Game in general: this game actually had a positive impact on my life because it made me realize that I can't just sit on my ass and/or be a piece of shit with people around me. If I want positive changes in my life I gotta grow a pair of balls and take initiative and by this I can affirm that Snoot Game is actually educational in that aspect, something that GVH will never achieve due to its pretentiousness and fixiation on useless labels that do not define a person in a meaningful way.

It came out a little bad from me...
I don't think it's a bad message by itself, but like everything, it's something that shouldn't be told in the most obnoxious way imaginable (as those pricks do) and instead dealt in a subtle manner.
The best writing for a character is usually made when its gender/sexuality should is at the very bottom of details about the character itself.

Non binary is the most non commital way of saying "I'm totes special!". Basically of you want to say you are "queer" but not have to fuck your same sex or present yourself in a different way, you just say you are non binary. It's like when girls said they were bisexual because they kissed another chick when drunk in college once till bisexual suddelly stopped being oh so cool and special.

By today's retarded standards everybody for the most part is "non-binary" since the standards of "male" and "female" have become a shit ton more polar in their gay religion. It's why I find it hlarious that they get so defensive on Fang being that, since in the oh so revolutionary day of current year +6, being non binary barely gets you a glance with the genderspecials.

Guaranteed the message of GVH will be that you're perfect the way you are and everyone else and society need to change and accept that (as long as you have the right labels, otherwise you're the society that needs to change). These people are incapable of making anything that isn't a wish fulfillment fantasy in that way.

Hello beloved dinos!​

As many of you have likely guessed, Goodbye Volcano High will not be making its targeted 2022 release. We have made the difficult decision to push its launch to Summer of 2023.

This has been a learning experience for us: producing an ambitious project for our studio's size, with over 6000 voiced lines, and a large number of bespoke animations. We care about this game and the story we're telling so much, and want to deliver something that is in line with what we've always envisioned for this game. It's what you deserve!
We understand this delay might be disappointing, but we are confident this is the right decision and that it will be worth the wait.
