Google Image removes View Image button and Search by Image feature - All because of Getty Image

Google has removed the View Image button and the Search by Image feature when viewing an individual image within Google Image Search. Google announced this change on Twitter, saying:

Today we’re launching some changes on Google Images to help connect users and useful websites. This will include removing the View Image button. The Visit button remains, so users can see images in the context of the webpages they’re on.

The Search by Image button is also being removed. Reverse image search *still works* through the way most people use it, from the search bar of Google Images.

This seems to be in direct response to the concession Google made with Getty Images a few days ago around helping reduce copyright infringement through the popular search engine.

Here is how the feature looked before the change:

Here is what it will look like when this fully rolls out:

Also, notice how the “copyright” disclaimer is more visible within the search results.

I swear to God every time a website rolls out an "update" or "new feature"
It's mostly Google.
Every single fucking Youtube update the site just becomes far less intuitive and more annoying. Why in fuck did they get rid of a favourite button and hide it behind a pop up menu? Why is it some super fucking convoluted process to see statistics now instead of just hitting the "stats" button. They keep moving shit all around for no reason as well. Why doesn't subscriptions show ALL your subscriptions unless you go into the actual subscriptions page. In fact, I've noticed recently that Youtube just decides to randomly unsubscribe me from people now if I haven't watched a video of theirs in a while or some shit.

Fuckin' Getty. "Nobody wants to pay 500 bucks for an unwatermarked image? Must be google's fault, better inconvenience everyone else just so we can cash a few more checks!"

Probably because they keep hiring on more web designers just for the sake of having them around, so in order for them to earn the paychecks they've gotta keep moving shit around and "fixing" what's not broken to make themselves look more productive.
