Google Image removes View Image button and Search by Image feature - All because of Getty Image

Google has removed the View Image button and the Search by Image feature when viewing an individual image within Google Image Search. Google announced this change on Twitter, saying:

Today we’re launching some changes on Google Images to help connect users and useful websites. This will include removing the View Image button. The Visit button remains, so users can see images in the context of the webpages they’re on.

The Search by Image button is also being removed. Reverse image search *still works* through the way most people use it, from the search bar of Google Images.

This seems to be in direct response to the concession Google made with Getty Images a few days ago around helping reduce copyright infringement through the popular search engine.

Here is how the feature looked before the change:

Here is what it will look like when this fully rolls out:

Also, notice how the “copyright” disclaimer is more visible within the search results.

I thought my Google broke or glitched in a way that was pretty weird.

Welp, any other other way to get the fullsized image without going to the (possibly full of malware and useless junk) site?

What about right clicking then selecting copy image location? That's what I always do anyway. Although that does take you to the website. Plus you have to paste the URL. I don't think I ever used the button they took away.

This is balls. I thought ol' Google was supposed to be all left-wing environmentally conscious. Isn't all the extra loading of information and browsing using up more electricity and all that gobble-de-cock?

Google search is trash in general. It just got trashier now.

I just realized how fucking annoying this actually is.

Great job Google you fucking cunts, destroy functionality for no reason.

I wonder what deranged tranny had this "idea."

Seriously only a troon who has chopped off a functional part of his body for insane reasons could possibly think this was a good idea.

"connect users and useful websites" by forcing you to go to a web page possibly riddled with malware to view a full-sized image.
Considering some of the weird stolen images/videos that show up with suspicious pages linked to them on google image search these days I can only hope the backlash is enough for them to remove this "helpful update".
However, knowing Google, They'll more than likely either ignore the complaints. Either that, or they'll delete the "hateful troll comments" en masse like they tend to do on youtube.(:_(
And Pinterest takes credit for images in their pins, so you have to sign up to see the website the picture originated from. If you look for anything related to home improvement your whole search is fucked. I refuse to sign up for Pinterest, guess I won't use Google Images anymore...

Then there's sites Tumblr, where going to source is a crapshoot of either redirecting you to the tags search engine where the image is likely been long buried or no longer being tracked by Tumblr, or takes you to john-doe.tumblr.com/example+fanart/page/5 for a frequently updating 300+ page blog to try and track down an image made in 2010. So good fucking luck trying to track down or share your favorite artists now.

The one who thinks it's a better idea to cave into companies filing lolsuits than to fight back. I mean Google's on the level of MS and Apple size wise and those 2 are famous for winning every suit.
