Hey! Kiwis I would like to ask about upgrades, I have this as my specs:

What would be the compatible card? Would I be able to install this? I want to upgrade so I can play games like BG3. But I am unsure if this would be compatible with my PC. So I came here for help.

Zen 7 design splits off into these core types: Classic (the usual cores in your 7600X or whatever), Dense/Cloud ("C" cores used in Bergamo, now also in consumer APUs like Strix Point/Krackan), Low Power (as small and efficient as possible), Efficiency (probably a mix of Classic and Dense, using more area/cache), and 3D Core.

Zen 7 = TSMC A14 for core chiplets, N4 for V-Cache chiplets. 2 MiB L2 cache per core (from 1 MiB).

Epyc will use 33-core chiplets for up to 264 cores (8x33).

I have this as my specs:
You need to figure out if you're currently using DDR4 or DDR5. The LGA 1700 motherboard can only have one or the other, and you're stuck with whatever type it's using now. Try looking for the memory speed in the task manager. Or download and run CPU-Z. I'm gonna guess it's DDR4 but you need to make sure.

I got DDR4. According to it. Which is good because the top one is within my budget for next month. But the GPU does run a DDR5.

There have been 32 GB DDR4 deals in the $40-50 range within the last month. That's about as cheap as it will ever get, prices will start to rise over the next year as Samsung will end production.

I recommend only getting 2x16, or 2x32 if you saw a 64 GB kit for ~$90 that you wanted. Four-DIMM kits can have trouble reaching their advertised speeds. When you take your 8 GB out, put it in the plastic your new RAM came in and set it aside in case it's needed later.

Thanks. My mom has a techo guy that's fixing my Laptop so I might give him my PC to upgrade.

12400F is more than enough for anything. Outside of RAM, the 1650 is an aging card and will probably be your biggest bottleneck in BG3 (particularly in Act 3). The best upgrade path is probably an RTX 3050 if you don't want to break the bank although I would play it first on your current GPU and decide if you want to spend the extra money.

But the GPU does run a DDR5.
It's GDDR5 which is totally different and can't be replaced. The GTX 1650 is a weak GPU and going to be the bottleneck in gaming, but you can always get another GPU later. You don't need to rush to replace it if you can manage to get decent 1080p performance in the games you're running. If you do try to replace the GPU later, one thing that will need to be addressed is the power/PSU, since the GTX 1650 is only using 75W from the PCIe slot with no power cable. The PSU in this obvious pre-built machine may be relatively weak.

I'm looking to get more ram though.

Or you can do what I do and stick it in your pocket, then toss it into the center console of your car later. I'm sure that laptop RAM that's been in there for six years still works.

You can play BG3 on that card just fine at low to medium settings. Definitely get more RAM, listen to @The Mass Shooter Ron Soye on basically everything. 3050 is not a bad idea at all.

3050 isn't really much of an upgrade over a 1650 I don't think.
+50% fillrate, +200% compute power, and supports DLSS.

How would I get more ram exactly? Sorry I am a tech retard when it comes to this. I have a Nitro Pacer Desktop PC.

Only +2GB of VRAM. It's not terrible, but there are better options for the same or slightly more money.
Honestly that's dumb, GPU ram should be upgradable by now.
It's really not that simple. It's not even really comparable to laptop memory where you could argue for some future spec like CAMM modules. VRAM modules are soldered onto the PCB, just making a new version of the same card with more VRAM usually requires a PCB redesign like what the 4060 Ti had.

There is ram, and then there is vram. Ram is for your motherboard and is used for your computers tasks, and you can upgrade it by buying more sticks of it. Vram is your gpu's dedicated ram for video displays, and it processes textures, shaders and handles all video processing. Some games use more vram than others, and usually the higher you go in settings, the more it uses. Your gpu, the 1650 has 4gb of vram, which is to say the least, pretty lacking, but its enough for BG3 on low/mid settings. If I where you, I would get a 3050. It goes for about 190 usd, has 6gb of vram and will be more than enough for just about any game you want to play, on top of future proofing your PC, since your CPU is pretty good all things considered.

I think GDDRs need gud signal integrity. Some skilled people have grabbed the soldering iron and upgraded their 1080 Ti to 22 GB, and etc. But we are now in the age of (sometimes) upgradable APU memory.

Cease discussing this to avoid confusing Doctor Arinsu further.

Ah okay, then. Might just save up for two months since I get 100 dollars a month and I can go from there thanks.
