Tbh, the trial really isn't taking that long in the actual grand scheme of things.
Or that long in actual real world time. I mean yes, it's taken months so far of us watching and waiting, but the total amount of actual time the court has spent on Chris during those months can be measured in hours, if not minutes.
Look how long Barb is enduring.
This. It's much harder to kill the weeds than the grass.
Not "wobbling" because the perp is a manchild. You fuck your parents in Virginia, and that's a class 5 felony.
I'm beginning to think you don't understand what a class five felony is.
Chris got charged two days after the whole event came to light.
Because Chris violated an EPO, not because of the charges. They brought him in and charged him while they could because he probably looked like a flight risk at the time. Also they're not really allowed to bring you in and then NOT charge you with something.
Remember, the "legal experts" on here claimed over and over that the courts just wanted to be done with Chris,
Correction: the Greene County courts want to be done with him
permanently. Slapping him with a fine and tossing him out would be quick and easy, but it also means they'll only have to deal with him again almost immediately. And imprisoning him with a felony just means more time they need to deal with him what with appeals and parole hearings etc. Hanging him would be a permanent solution, but Virginia can't do that anymore, so they're settling on finding a way to make him someone else's problem. That takes time.
and February would be the last one where they'd deal with Chris, stamp a "time served: six months", adjudicate him guilty and bounce him.
I don't remember reading that from any legally astute people here. The consensus has been "continuances until plea deal".
how does this apply to Chris? What? Does talking to magic hedgehogs make you subject to government placement?
Being on SSDI, even undeserved SSDI, makes it apply to Chris.
Oh believe me, it's still quite possible that they bring him up on a felony charge,
And honestly, that would be preferable, because the circuit courts are open and on the public record, and then we would know for a fact what is happening. What
@Tennis-Ball-Tony doesn't seem to understand is the "legal experts" (as he puts it) aren't discussing what they
want to happen in the case, but instead what is
actually happening.
That's almost at the one year limit. They must REALLY be having a hard time finding somewhere to place him if they're giving themselves that much extra time.
What the fuck? I could have sworn one of the Constution's first 10 amendments is a right to a Speedy trial. I
The LAST thing Chris needs is a speedy trial. I believe it's his own defense requesting all these continuances. You can't complain about the delays you, yourself are requesting.
Imagine spending your 40th birthday in jail.
Believe me, there are worse places. Chris is actually unbelievably fortunate, and remember: he's only spending his 40th in jail because of his own choices. He did it to himself.
What will probably happen is that the family would have the funeral home make the wake and service private.
That's assuming they even have a service. Barb might go straight from the hospital to the crematorium to a shelf in Tom and Harriet's garage until they can find the time to toss her in next to Bob.
It's possibly why he wanted to name him Christian
The bear named him Christian, not Bob.
