The only way this is semi-justified is if you want them for the Switch and are just THAT desperate for the chance to play GTA 3/VC/SA on the go that you'll make a devil's bargain buying a garbage "remaster" that rapes the games and makes them borderline if not outright unplayable.
Not even that, buy it on mobile if you want the on-to-go experience (while it's still there.)

It still makes me laugh how some people complain about Horse Armor being the most despicable case of microtransactions ever created but then these same people see Power Armor skins in Fallout 76 costing $25 and don't say a word.

It's sad that I long for the days of Horse Armor.
At least horse armor was something not in the vanilla game, unlike a skin for something that's already in the vanilla game.

People still complain about the horse armor because that's what started the ball rolling.

So far T2 took down only the most popular total conversions and the reverse engineering project, the regular stuff (model, scripts, etc) are still there. Actually, what they did was an half-assed job, because you can still find mirrors of those "deleted" mods.

IIRC they also unofficialy halted the lawsuit against the authors of re3/reVC, according to a GTAForums post.

While I totally agree that taking down mods is a scum thing to do, I must admit that most users of GTAForums had a massive spergout due to it. According to them it seemed like they nuked every mod existing to this point, while in reality they just took down the hottest mods and then stopped. Looks like their legal department is sloppy as their development one.

EDIT: While I'm at it, I also want to point out that there were more mods taken down by the authors themselves rather than Take-Two. Looks like the scaremongering did more damage than the DMCA itself.
That was probably the whole point of only bothering to go after the most popular mods and total conversions, make an example out of them to scare off the smaller fries.

Now was this really so hard, GSG?
It looks better and improves framerate.

BTW, what's the bet that street shitters and shit street games will be blatant about taking modder's edited files and resubmitting them to R* as their own fixes?
Modders are stupid for doing this because they'll be actively making Grove Street look better than they are.

Our favorite future 41-percenter weighs in on the burning planewreck that's GTA: The Diminutive Edition:

Most emulators are a pain in the ass to set up, so I don't at all blame people for wanting the convenience so long as it's not inferior.
If you're too spastic to set up an emulator (which is piss easy these days), then go thrift store hopping and snag an old PS2. Or just grab one of the pre-DE PC copies floating around the Interwebs and elsewhere. Don't make shit so difficult for yourself.

It did get the ball rolling but these people like to act as if it's still the most egregious case of microtransaction bullshittery in gaming history. When you mention the Power Armor skins to them, they're just like "Hrm? What's that?"

It makes it seem less like they actually care about microtransactions being shitty and more like they complain because it's just fun to dunk on Horse Armor, which I guess it is, but still.

It's exactly what it is. They care more about the meme than the actual thing.

It's the same reason people over exaggerate Skyrim re-releases but never seem to care about how much Rockstar has milked GTA re-releases or Capcom has milked RE4, Street Fighter, etc. etc.

so last night I decided to check out my old GTA San Andreas PS2 save from waaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2005

lol either i sucked at the game or I must have retried Supply Lines a bazillion times, I remember just trying it over and over and over and over until I finally beat it

Aren't there activities that count as "mission attempts" or am I remembering wrong?

At least you have your (I assume) original save to look at how horrible you were. The one I started in 2004 got corrupted. I think I put in too many cheat codes, but still. Hurts me to this day. (:_(

Beat GTA 3.

Doesn't hold up well at all.
Visually it's meh, combat sucks, story sucks, world layout sucks (but I like the aesthetic of the city). It's missing basic features like a map screen, making it tough to navigate between islands if you forget where the bridges and tunnels are, or safehouses that regenerate your health.

The last quarter of the game is a series of increasingly bullshit missions that are almost always timed and based around the awful combat.

There's occasionally funny moments like when a cop accidentally drives off a cliff when failing to make a turn, but not enough to alleviate the stress.

What was the hardest mission you've encountered? It's a basic "quest for revenge" story while the bosses you work for use you for their own nefarious purposes. The subsequent games in the 3D era bring it all together.

The last 3 in particular. Espresso-2-Go requires you to navigate through all the islands and find unmarked espresso stands, S.A.M. requires a lot of waiting for 1 shot to shoot down a plane, the final mission requires a lot of annoying combat and the helicopter suddenly shooting rockets at you is cheap as hell.

Most of the story is cliched disconnected strands that don't go anywhere, especially the Donald Love arc. Claude isn't interesting enough a character to carry the plot. He can't really develop deep connections, isn't expressive enough to imply personality, and the characters that surround him aren't strong enough to carry it.

Bomb da Base II is hell for me on console. Increased acceleration of the sniper's aim on an analog stick makes a simple task a nightmare.

Whenever I needed to do combat I just put my controller down and used a mouse and keyboard. I couldn't imagine beating this game fully on controller.

That's Liberty City. Come for the opportunity, stay for the crime.
