So, against all logic, I was planning on picking GTA5/Online back up. I had played a bit of both back in the day, was looking to both finish off V's main story and start making some actual progress in Online. If I might ask; anyone have any suggestions for making progress on Online these days? I was basically just looking for a decent, reliable way to make some cash; any suggestions? That, and I know that there are some weapons that are better than others; got any suggestions?

This is four years old. I know GTA Online added various collectibles and hidden rewards in its open world that can net you some ill-gotten gains and rank level progress. Thank God R* allowed players to do some activities in solo sessions. Keep updated on double XP, GTA$ playlists that change on a regular basis.

I am hoping that GTA VI is a little more grounded so that the online portion doesn't devolve into flying missile bikes, laser beams, orbital death rays, and deloreans. But I know Take Two are a bunch of greedy mother fuckers and will eventually put that shit in to sell more shark cards.

Sucks that its going to be on PC in 2028 since Rockstar always delays their games.

Do dailies when you can and save up for a business. Rather than one of the motorcycle club delivery ones, I actually recommend a Chop Shop. You can tow cars a couple of times a day to fill up your safe, and it also comes with mini-heists that reward 300-500k or a rare car (up to 3/week). It's a good way to improve your cash flow that won't take up too much of your time, and the mini-heists are easily soloable.

If you already have businesses and stuff, all business activity can be done in a friends only/invite only game now, so no one will grief you while you and your buddies run drugs around.

The Cayo Perico Heist is a good start, the payout has been lowered several times since then but is still the best way to make money and you can solo the heist. If you have a friend with you the Diamond Casino heist is another option. The Doomsday Heist Act II and Act III have good payouts, Act II is easy where as Act III can be difficult for players that are inexperienced.

The Auto Shop business has contract heists which are smaller heists that have a decent payout ranging from $170,000 - $300,000. The Acid Lab is a good starter business it spawns nearby your location when called upon, sell missions are fast. The value of the product when sold with the equipment upgrade in a private lobby is $335,000 or $500,000 in a full public lobby.

The AP Pistol is accurate and has a high fire rate which makes it a good weapon to have while driving. The Assault Shotgun with the drum magazine is good when you're taking on multiple enemies at short range. The Mk II weapons are some of the best guns in the game, there is a weapons workshop you can use for free at The Freakshop which is unlocked after First Dose 1 - Welcome to the Troupe mission. The Service Rifle and the Battle Rifle have the same fire rate but the BR has more power where as the SR has a bigger magazine. They're both expensive but good alternatives to the Mk II rifles.

Yeah, I'm a solo player; none of my friends have GTAV, so I'll just do what content is available for a solo. I wouldn't mind giving the multiplayer heists a shot, but... well, the community is known for toxicity.

Thanks for the tips on weapons!

Is the Chop Shop where they have those two black characters that love to say motherfucker or the Import/Export where you lose money for the slightest damage?

Nah it's run by one of those generic middle eastern dudes who all seem to be part of the same family.

A GTA V mission lampshades how obnoxious it is to travel halfway across the state for a mission... only for GTA Online to have you do the exact same thing by design.

At least in GTA Online you can just call in a chopper or hop in your Deluxo (if you don't mind flying a little slow) and get there a lot faster.

That's part of the money making scheme

The most expensive hideouts/businesses are always closes to the objectives typically, and when they're not they want you buying a flying rocket bike or plane/helicopter to get there faster.

Almost forgot, since the BattlEye cheat detector rolled out, I'm seeing a fair bit of videos of people getting suspended/banned from GTA Online for mod menus and artificial money gains. I'm guessing it's doing SOMETHING, but why wait 11 years to upgrade security?
Testing for GTA VI.
I'd love to know exactly what it looks for and how it flags you. Surely the system couldn't just be transferred over and applied to the next game so easily, unless the games are way more alike than we would hope...

It's funny seeing the Youtube guys making videos gloating and laughing about modders getting banned. This is in between their regular videos raging about the grindy nature of the game and how badly Rockstar treats it. Yeah, we feel that way too buddy, hence the mods. Continue grinding and complaining though...

Real Stockholm syndrome vibes.

It's like 5 minutes to get anywhere on the map even if you're flying the slowest, gayest of fatass helicopters tbh.

There's a pattern in the industry where popular online modes are made unplayable or sometimes outright broken, to push people into the soon-to-be-released sequel. Gears of War did this multiple times to push people to the next game.

PS5/XS - 2025
PS5PRO enhanced/GOTY edition 2026
PC - 2027
PS6 - 2028

Similar timescale as PS360 - PC - PS4/X1. R* want you double and triple dipping.

Those 5 minutes mattered when payouts were shit and you had people trying to kill you and fuck your deals up 24/7

Also the slowest, gayest of fat ass helicopters, at least when I played, didn't have countermeasures typically.

You're also forgetting that CEO deals and Biker Businesses locked you into using mission specific vehicles.

Postal van or dump truck = immediate disconnect. I'll take the minor hit to total product over a full 30 minutes of driving 5mph up Vinewood Hills.

There were clans and discord groups who would isolate and effectively run public lobbies for their members to do business sales on consoles, I joined one on PS4 for a while. Those guys ran a great shift. They had a quick request system in the discord chat, you're then added to the queue and notified when it's your time to sell (it was good etiquette to already be at the business ready to invite the moment you're notified). 5-10 guys would show up, some would be dedicated drivers, some "pushers" who used heavy arena wars vehicles (Scarab was best IMO) with a ram and nitrous to push the slow ass sale vehicles, GREATLY decreasing transit time, and of course one or two PVP guys just in case. Ideally the lobby would be empty save for clan members, they had some ways to manipulate this in to happening, but sometimes like a floodgate tonnes of other players would join simultaneously out of nowhere, so the PVP guys were necessary for that. Someone would then go scout a new lobby and invite the clan there instead to resume. Shit was fun. Phoenix something was the best clan for this that I remember.
