I'm not gonna sit here and defend the game (I think it will be ok at best), but people complaining about the no gameplay trailer really show their asses. Rockstar have been doing these trailers for over 20 years now. Zoomers please.
To be fair I had thought those complaints were valid because I simply can't remember the GTA trailers that came out years ago. But to be fair I'm not this guy:

On that point: I'll take the trailer as just something that shows a bit of interest in the possibility of the game but won't fully get into shit until the game actually releases because as we know even if the trailer featured gameplay (like Ubisoft's trailers often do) it can still be wildly misleading and tons of shit can be cut from the final game.

I'll most likely buy it anyway just because it is GTA and is an exception to the "don't buy until you see other people play it rule" but then again - the faggots aren't going to release it on PC on launch (as far as everyone is saying so far) so I'm going to have to wait anyway.

In which case: thank you console gamers for signing up for the Rockstar beta testing program so that alpha PC gamers can experience a more flawless game.

The most important question is whether or not Rockstar North has finally learned how to properly implement analog stick movement.

That fucking button-tapping to run horseshit needed to die two decades ago.

Just to prove I'm not talking out of my ass, these trailers are 23+ years old
I'm literally 100% sure that I never even saw the trailer for Vice City and bought it after playing GTA 3 which I was psyched about because I played GTA 1.
I struggle to think where I would've even watched a trailer in those days.

But I do remember playing Vice City on my laptop and my grandma (RIP) giving me shit about sitting inside playing video games. So I put the laptop away and watched TV and apparently that was A-OK. Then I tried playing the grand piano she had in her house and she slammed the key guard thing shut because apparently playing the piano is a no go, laptops/games are a no go but TV is great.
(and before anyone asks she had no idea about the violent/adult nature of GTA, just didn't like computers)

Trailer was meh. Looked good graphics why, but I get the feeling this sort of Bonnie & Clyde approach that it seems they're going to take the story and characters with is going to be charmless.
I wonder what would happen first? A flashback scene akin to GTA V's Prologue of their first heist together, Lucia in jail, or Jason roaming around Vice City? According to the website, Jason was in the Army. I wonder if his backstory would be similar to Vic Vance's snit to crime.

The real question for me would be whether or not to pre-load it digitally so I could play it instantly or pre-order it at a brick and mortar store and wait in line for ungodly hours. I think you can pre-load games nowadays, but you still need the license to play it.

That’s been such a quirk that’s been held for the entire Series and carried into the Redemptions games that I’d kinda be sad to see it gone.

I’d really just like to see a GTA with a good melee combat system. I’m not expecting a Brawler by any means but it’d just be nice if punching someone felt like it carried weight.

They had it on their website. I was downloading it on my ISDN connection (just over double the speed of 56k), still took forever to download. lol.
It really was an era where you could buy most games without seeing a trailer and they would be at least average or very good.
Now that we're in the trailer era it seems they are bigger warning signs of a terrible, shitty game than anything else.

Also much like movie trailers, they ruin a lot of the magic.

I'd love to believe that this game will be a breath of fresh, beautifully offensive air after being subjected to the incessant activism in all of media over the last decade, but there's a sad truth we have to come to terms with:

This game was produced in the midst of the worst years our culture has ever seen.

GTA 5 was released in 2013, one year before shit hit the fan. Colleges hadn't yet gone complete chimp-mode, Tumblresque blog brain hadn't broken its way into public consciousness, GamerGate hadn't happened. It was the tail end of a transitional period in culture, and a perfect time for a videogame company full of gen-xers to drop some comedic hammers on a then-young millennial culture.
GTA 6 will be released in 2026, but has been worked on by the entire studio since 2018. For however much 2014 sucked, corporate culture from 2018 until Nov of 2024 has been ten times worse. In that time, Rockstar repeatedly committed to "correcting" their humor from their 2013 game, amongst other iffy decisions.

White people will be mostly bad, brown people and trannies mostly good. Brown women will be shapely and youthful, white women will either emulate brown women or be ugly and deformed looking. No tranny jokes, no gay jokes, no non-white race jokes, blacks iz culture, whites are alcoholics and trashy, hunters are evil hicks, Brump is evil president, DeSantos is evil governor, Leonidas version AOC is the good politican. Jason is some kind of weasel or coward at the end, Lucia will have to fend for herself in the final act.
All hidden behind fantastic visuals, fairly engaging gameplay, legendary marketing and optics, and shitloads of coomer-bait. Everything an addled American mind needs to be satisfied.
We're the joke now.

I'm not a hater, I want it to be as good as any fan does. I just know we'll be disappointed, and that GTA 6 will almost certainly be a tool of psychological warfare on normalcy like everything else, except maybe worse because of the sheer scope of the whole thing.
