Since the Nvidia driver updates in mid May around the time of the Doom TDA launch GTA 5 Enhanced has been crashing with a graphics state error. You can play it for about 20 minutes then it crashes. Anyone else experiencing this? I rolled back to a driver from around April 30th and this seems to fix it. But Doom TDA needs the newer drivers,

Years ago, I was playing GTA 5 and I was in the hills with the wind turbines. There was this beat up old small RV parked up there, so I pulled up to it and got out. I noticed it was rocking. Then I hear two guys in there talking. One of them says he is going to go outside and take a look. The other responds back with a male voice. Then some redneck stereotype comes out d the RV. Of course, I shoot him and then the other one comes out and starts shooting at me as well.

This is one of my favorite memories from GTA 5. Was it a moment from the main story? No, just some random encounters shit out in the game world. This is why I like GTA. I haven't had this happen since. Did anyone else get this?

Yeah, had it happen to me too. I wish there were more random encounters.

I think in the original GTA 5 (on PS3/360), airplanes can be seen taking off instead of just landing in the airport.

Now, try an open world game like GTA in 3D that would allow you to harm/kill children at will, especially after Columbine. I want to use another example with that point. The Simpsons Wrestling was a 3D wrestling game that was released for the PlayStation in 2001. Springfield Elementary was intended to be a level, but executives nixed it to avoid any relation from the Columbine massacre. And this is a wrestling game.
Another example could be POSTAL. First game had an ending cutscene where the main character shoots up a playground (however, no kids are visibly hurt in the cutscene). It generated a massive stir, and this was 2 years before Columbine. Needless to say, POSTAL Redux had it cut out and replaced with something else.

Another fun (not really) fact: The US never got a Dreamcast light gun for games like House Of The Dead 2 because of Columbine.

Nope, but I do remember getting a random encounter where I come across a bunch of dead bodies around a briefcase, where a guy is telling me to not take it as he bleeds out. I ignore him, take the briefcase, and drive off. I then get jumped by a bunch of cars with armed guys and die. I should have listened.

Wait, they don't take off in next-gen? That's weird. I do know that car damage was better on 360 and PS3 due to lack of first person. You could have wheels fly off and drive with only 3 of them.

Other light gun games existed in the US like Time Crisis 2. Or was it because of it being inside of a mansion?

That sounds really cool. When I play as Trevor I get chased by bikers.

I have wasted 2 fucking weeks trying to get GTA IV to be moddable AND stable at the same time. I am still not even close to what I need because one additional .img file using the Fusion Overloader just crashes the entire game, forcing me to restart all over again.

Fuck Rockstar.

Time Crisis 2 released in the US in 1998, a year prior to the shooting. Other Sega light gun games like Virtua Cop 2 released before as well. Although I guess Namco didn't care because the PS2 port of TC2 came with a light gun, and that was in 2001. Dreamcast however released in NA in September 1999, so the release period being so close was probably why Sega didn't release any light guns in North America.

I just gave up. Never finished IV on anything that wasn't a 360.

Niko is my favorite tragic character in media, but Luis Lopez needs credit in how his character dynamic blends with the supporting characters. Stoic, unless you push him. Loyal, but not blind to his associates' flaws. Successful, but still partakes in illegal activity if necessary from his peers.

He chooses to stay with his childhood friends and manage the high nightclub lifestyle without losing who he is in either world. It's tragedy how he's the one to get people out of their messes, but they still lay on him for his decisions.

I'm a simple guy, I like Tommy since he just wants to make money and that's it. He's an asshole sometimes, but in Vice City, who isn't? You really don't need more than that in a GTA game.
I would put Claude and the guy from GTA 2(wasn't it also Claude for some reason) but they're both mutes.

At the end of the day the 3 protags from V are easily the worst. As alot of thing from V are the worst in the series, story, map, characters, thank God for Online if it wasn't for that V would be remembered the way IV unfairly is

What I like about revenge plots is that you're not necessarily geared towards being a criminal mastermind like Tommy or CJ, your motivation is exacting revenge by any means necessary. Claude is just a fish in a pond of bigger fish. He has the capabilities needed for survival, but that's it.

I believe that Niko's character arc with being a broken, traumatized man in an unfamiliar world is a great deconstruction of the criminal underworld. By the end of the game, you'll have about 250-500K in the bank, but you ask yourself at what cost?
