Why do they keep anouncing these things beforehand after all the beef with N & R?
Perhapse more importantly, why do the companies shoot some of these projects on sight (emulators, older ports of LCS and VCS to PC), while others get a pass (native reverse engineered ports of n64 games, GTA Underground and newer ports of the Stories games)?

The suits at Rockstar and Take Two :

GTA Underground
They went after Underground too back in 2021

And Niko is a far more interesting character imo than all 3 of the GTA V protagonists combined. Franklin was just too dull and boring, Michael is a faggot and Trevor is.... well, Trevor. He's a one note character where his entire gimmick is he's a psycho which gets old kind of fast.
I think it comes down to R* not knowing which story it wanted to tell in GTA V so it tried to tell them all at one time. The ability to switch between the three protagonists is a neat mechanic, but it's just kind of there except in the middle of missions and the last mission where Franklin has to decide to save both the other two or let one of them die.

But beyond that, the three characters are just so radically different that is pulls the tone of the game in different directions. Franklin wants off the streets and to be successful in a semi-legit way. Michael wants to protect his family and relive his glory days of being a successful bank robber because he's bored. Trevor is the character that we all play between missions as a complete chaotic force of nature. The game just doesn't know what to do with all three of them so it can't be written in such a way that it makes for a satisfying game. Had the developers picked one character and gone with him, that would have been one thing, but allowing the player to jump in and out of characters doesn't give the player that touchstone needed to stick with the story. It ends up being a slog at points.

I think Michael has the story closest to the 3D games. He's bored with his life, he has to come up with the money to fix the mansion he wrecked because he's more pissed at himself than his wife's infidelity, he ends up back in the game which pisses her off so he ends up alone, his old buddy Trevor shows up, kidnaps the Madrazo's wife so he has to hide in the desert for a while, then it's on to the final big score. That would have worked great. Franklin is just kind of there and is basically the sidekick to the sidekick with an uninteresting story and Trevor is just a psycho for the sake of being a psycho so there really isn't a story. Franklin's biggest problem as a concept is it would be very, very easy to fall into making him a clone of CJ from San Andreas as a gang banger just doing gang banging things.

The one great thing about Trevor is he really is a tongue-in-cheek joke from R* to us since he is what we always play him as. Unlicensed pilot? Check. Rage filled? Check. Drives on the sidewalk and tells bad jokes as he plows down peds? Check. Guns galore? Check. Solves every single problem with violence? Check. Trevor is us whenever we have the chance to just be the bad guy. It was a funny joke, but I don't think it works as a long term character.

Agreed on all your other points, but what prevents us from saying the same about Flycast, that needs no special fork for arcade emulation (triforce) or lower-end devices (Ishiiruka)?
Heck even Ishiiruka no longer supports older OSes or 32bit devices.
Fair. Same with the "GC is bitch expensive" part, I realized that the DC is also bitch expensive.
Well I'll just expand on my point about modding.
The GameCube never really got much homebrew compared with the others. If I ranked all the 6th gen consoles based on hackability and how much homebrew there is, i'd rank it as
1. Xbox
2. PS2
3. Dreamcast
4. GameCube
Xbox got a ton of stuff, media players, game piracy, homebrew software, the works.
Dreamcast mainly focused on piracy and homebrew, since unless you had a late model, you could stick any old CD in there and games that fit under it would run. Due to that, people could also burn discs with homebrewed games and applications.
PS2 didn't get much until way later, but hey it got some stuff, and by now, you actually have a lot of homebrew to play around with.
GameCube? Basically nothing except burned games with a modchip. Even then, you have to pray that your stack of Mini-DVDs aren't fucked or run the console without the top shell to use regular DVDs.
Personally I think that V with its countryside is really missing a second thematically different mid-sized city (Bakersfield?) and should have been laid out in a manner that allows for larger desert and forest biome 'blobs'. On the other hand, I do think that the prevalence of mountains is really a symptom of the game pushing the PS3-Xbox 360 console hardware while trying to max out graphic fidelity for the era.
I was pretty sure they were wanting to plan another desert place called Majestic County alongside Blaine County (multiple cut police voice lines prove this) so yeah I think they thought so too. My main issue with Vs map is that there's a literal fucking circle of road around it, which means that so much of the map just.... isn't used. There's been places in the map where some of my friends go "wait that's a place, or is that a new update?" and I respond with taking a screenshot of the exact same place on my PS3 copy of V.

Anyways, here's a few in-game photos I took in GTA V on PS3. I'll transfer a few of the others later.

I truly wonder what happened to the old Rockstar games that would gladly promote community mods on their site instead of taking them down through legal actions and even allegedly sending private investigators to harass modders who refused to take down their mods.

From my observation, it seems like they did a full 180 on their view of the modding community before the release of the GTA Trilogy the Definitive Edition and it's been quite bizarre watching them turn on the modding community for these past couple of years.

They all left.
That's what happened.
And the ones that stayed were probably faggots to begin with.

Because we can’t have nice things:
It's tiring to see T2 and nu R* still being out of touch as usual and heartwrenching to see they keep doing it toward fan projects and then another which many people would forget about it shortly after.

GTA 6 Costing As Much As $100 Could Help Video Game Industry Rebound In 2025, Analyst Says

Leftist gaming publication Gamespot outright calls for inflation and $100 games to "save the industry." A LEFTIST calling to increase the already high cost of the woke shit they're shoveling?... No way!.. It's unthinkable!
Sure eggs are up to 4 dollars a dozen and you can expect to pay 2 dollars for cheap bread, but let's jack up the price of games because that is good for billion dollar companies that outsource their development and coding to India.

And the funniest part of it all is they're too dumb to realize they're all doing it to themselves. It's a self fulfilling cycle too.
They cry and whine about how expensive developing video games is now, except most of that budget is being wasted on bullshit nobody who is actually playing the games gives a fuck about. I don't care that your textures are 20k or whatever the fuck if the game is a hollow piece of shit. Then they fill it full of microtransactions because of how much money they blew on that pointless shit which causes more people to not want to interact with them so in their deluded fucking retarded minds they for some reason think they didn't spend enough money on useless bullshit so they spend even more on the next project and the cycle is probably just going to repeat until some kind of crash happens.
Never understanding that THEY are the problem, not us.

All because they're actually too retarded to figure out that gamers just want fun games at the end of the day. Otherwise they wouldn't be going back to old games that look like shit by today's standards but are way more fun and have more content than the HD slop they're pouring out now.

It's not a permanent mod, but you can easily run homebrew on the GC with a hacked save file
Before Cockstar C&D'd the project, GTA 3 got ported to the Wii U and 3DS. I have hope that some dedicated trannyfaggot cube autist will take it upon xeirselves to port it
Because we can’t have nice things:
What doesn't help:
-Normiefaggot youtubers publicizing the shit out of GTA mods or fan ports
-Normiefaggot Rockstar fans who gargle their balls 24/7 and spend every last penny on shark cards
-Lack of archival efforts because most GTA fans are brainrotted zoomers and niggers

I'm surprised that the GTA 3 Dreamcast port hasn't been taken down yet.
From my understanding it's able to stay up because it uses the same methods the Super Mario 64 or Zelda Ocarina of Time PC ports do where it requires you to have a legal rom of the game to extract the assets from to generate the iso in the first place, or something to that nature.

So far it's a loophole that seems to work extremely well.

Wouldn't you need the GTA V copy to even USE the Liberty City mod? Another theory I have is that because IV/V uses the RAGE engine, it's infringing on their current products.

The mod was from my understanding packaged with GTA IV assets directly.
Not to mention they made that retarded ass rule about not porting maps from other GTA games into eachother a few years ago.

Part of me wants to be mad at Rockstar and Take Two for destroying yet another fantastic mod created by the community, but I just can't. The reason Rockstar takes down mods like these so casually is because they know they can get away with it. No matter how bad their public image gets, everyone and their mama is going to buy GTA 6. That game is going to make bank for them and that's all that matters to this company, and there's no real way to disrupt that. I bet even a Cyberpunk level launch won't even dent sales.

YouTubers, fans and random people alike can get pissed at both Rockstar and Take Two for their anti consumer practices and shitting on the mod community, but it won't matter because at the end of the day, all those same people will buy GTA 6. I remember when everyone was trashing the Definitive Edition and yet they all bought it anyway. Rockstar Games is in a pretty unique position I think, where they can do all of these petty things to the community and still come out on top regardless. I honestly believe that Rockstar could straight up say they would drop single player from GTA6 entirely tomorrow morning and everyone would still buy it because "Hey! It's a rockstar game! They're the poster boys for high quality stuff!"

Kinda doomposting I guess, I'm just so tired of it all.

Yeah, that might explain it. Not agreeing with Take Two's decision, it just makes more sense of WHY it was pulled.

I think the closest to R* in the gaming industry is Nintendo with their anti-consumer practices.

While you can still get LCPP from their own site, someone on Reddit has not only put the LCPP mod back on Internet Archive (Pixel Drain Magnet Link), but also a link to magnet link of the RE3 & REVC too (reverse engineered versions of VC & III) mod too. Here's a site to tard-wrangle through Pixeldrain.
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:ba81b23e9b0fe84127e5a64ed041fefee32e592e&xt=urn:btmh:1220c9a721ccbda536f6bf354284251ddca939c17846bd720e760d9e0c7f0b9b01d9&dn=GTAModding%20REVC%26RE3%20backup&tr
Edit: I got autistic & posted the RE3 & REVC mod archive here (in both 7z & .zip). I wish I could do the same for LCPP, but their compressed versions alone are so big (I'm talking 11-30 GBs here) that it will make this entire site technically dilate itself.

This honestly looks like rage baiting and, at worst, desperation for people slowly realizing that GTA 6 will be disappoitng.

Even if I’m proven wrong, no one is going to care about the fact that recently it was announced GTA VI is allegedly going to get a PC port on a later release date after the console versions are released.

No PC players will spend $100 on this.

It's because they used to think that community outreach was important. If you go on their YouTube channel, you can see a few playlists of content created by players that they liked or were winners in contests. I assume a lot of this was to promote the Rockstar Editor so they could convince people to double dip with the PS4 and Xbox One releases. Oh how times have changed, considering that you can't even access it on PS4 and Xbox One anymore.
1737094187979.png
Here's the kicker: All of these videos are 8-10 years old.
They knew that interacting with the community would allow for more interest in the game and therefore, more sales. Now, I guess it doesn't matter to them much anymore since everyone owns GTA V and treats Rockstar like god now, and they don't care about reeling back their annoying lawyers.
GTA 3 got ported to the Wii U and 3DS.
As someone who's played the RE:3 3DS port, I'd say "ported" was an overstatement. It barely runs even on a "new" 3DS, and all the textures are screwed in some way.

Saving the industry doesn't mean jacking up prices, it means not making shitty games and not sucking the dick of every shareholder of your company. If it really is 100 dollars, I'm gonna be surprised.
