Remember, GTA 4, Chinatown Wars, 5 and 6 are a different universe to 3,, Advance, VC, SA, LCS and VCS and those are a different universe to GTA 1, 2 and GTA London.
Most characters that are in one universe don't appear in other universes except radio hosts like Lazlow.

There's gonna be a prologue. The webpage of VI states that Lucia gets jailed after a robbery with Jason goes wrong. The prologue is gonna be that robbery, I'm pretty sure even the leaks kinda showed that.

I went back to the PS3 version of GTAIV and I was shocked by how bad that game ran. For crying out loud you had to move the camera all the way into the bumper of the car to read the license plate.

600p and 10 FPS at worst. How did that ever get past quality control.

Anyway for my thoughts on it, which aren't "can you believe they put NIGGERS in my crime game?", I have to say it looks pretty promising so far. I've seen people wondering whether or not the delay to 2026 is so Rockstar can remove all of the late twenty-teens and post-2020 cultural nonsense from it, though I doubt it. This thing was so far down the pipeline by the time the culture began to shift [which basically only started happening over the last year and a half or so] that outside of cutting off some dialogue, I don't think that's possible. The fact that the female main character doesn't look like some androgynous swamp goblin that is obviously a self-insert from one of the dangerhair writers is a small indication that maybe it won't be too bad. No doubt much of the satire will be shitting on le evil Republicans but that's basically always been the case in GTA, though they used to shit more equally on both sides years ago.

I still don't know that there is any way it could possibly live up to the hype that's built up around it at this point, but it looks pretty decent in my opinion. Regardless whether it even comes close or not, this fucking thing is going to break so many records day 1 and will probably basically be a cultural event. Unironically there may be mass call-offs from work in the days after its release and that sort of thing is interesting. Only things that give me pause about it are the articles featuring developers going on about how they had to drive 'fratboy humor' out of Rockstar and the fact that so many long-time employees dipped after RDR2, but we'll see. Seems like they'll be bringing back some aspects about San Andreas which some people liked and others hated, such as the "CJ is now fat from eating fried chicken, go to the gym unless you want him to be a slow lardass" feature. Personally I liked the skill/physique aspects but I can see why others found it annoying. I sort of missed that aspect in GTA IV [and to some extent V, though it had some skills] and GTA IV really suffered from too few stores/options and having basically nothing to spend in-game money on.

I'm not paying any money for any games anymore. Got GTAV around 2020 when they gave it away for free on Epic Games. GTA Online is completely free to play if you own the game, no subscription fee. I had a lot of fun with it.
