I take it that they want GTA Online to have one more full year of content to maximize revenue. I’m sure that like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II, the online component will release later. That’s not even taking into account the RP build after they bought that GTA V RP developer.

Another theory I have is that with the shifting political climate, they want to rewrite the game to avoid backlash for being TOO political sensitive.

Id hope but with every gta if you hear what the cut content is it will.make you sad. Hell IV was gonna be a whole state. Now with this delay its gonna be half a state like V and smaller.

Rockstar has been consistent in their quality for years now, I truly hope these delays are signs of care and love being put into the final product, rather than development hell. If it turns out to be the former, I think it'll be the only $70 I will purchase. I'm hopeful!

It's revenue and nothing else. Sony and Microsoft have missed their targets that they assured R* they would hit (rumoured to be 100 million PS5's and50 million Xbox's).
The bean counters have crunched the numbers and realised that they can't make their money back in one financial year unless they release it multiplat.
With the next consoles rumoured to be 2026/2027, it means a current gen, PC and next gen release in one year/two financial years instead of three.

You can't dewoke a game in 6 months.

Either that or they're prepping a Switch 2 version which would be hilarious.
