CJ and Niko on the other hand are F-grade faggots that whine about everything, and it's difficult to buy their moralfagging when you're busy running over civilians on the sidewalk while trying to escape the cops outside of cutscenes.
There is one old meme comic I lost a long time ago, where they poke at this subject with Far Cry 3, GTA 4, and I think Watch Dogs, in all the protagonists will go "I don't want unnecessary deaths" and then the player can rampage.

Their media literacy needs work. IV's undertones with deconstructing the criminal power fantasy explains the relationship between the player, protagonist and plot. TBoGT lampshades that dichotomy with Luis' nonchalant personality towards Tony's blunders.

I'll give Watch Dogs this, it does a better job with having a moody, self-centered "moral" bad guy between gameplay and storytelling. You do bad; the world reacts, albeit in a binary way. Its ending with the Big Bad does try to exact closure by subverting its "revenge is hollow" trope.

Always got the vibe that this guy was more than a little off but holy shit the narcissism in this video about how the newest GTA game is totally all about him and his life

Not to mention the whole strap fake explosives to somebody as part of a robbery plan just screams psychopath. Also kind of wonder how true any of his shit about prison is considering he did alot of shit with one of our cows, jessica kent, who is by her own fuck up. an admitted rat and clear wackjob, despite claiming to despise those types and want nothing to do with them

He was on the pka podcast a few years ago and was an awful guest never answered any actual questions and would just talk in circles.

a portion of the podcast was censored when talking about kamala Harris and the hosts ended up confirming they censored it because he threatened to kill her lol

I used to watch a lot of those prison youtube channels, AfterPrisonShow and JD Delay mostly, but Lawton was by far the one I fucking hated the most. Everything he said just sounded like bullshit.

I would’ve gave her credit about her point with how “lesser” the mainline island felt compared to III’s Liberty City. Ocean Beach does feel like 80s Miami with the neon lights, palm trees, beach line and massive mall nearby. Downtown in comparison looks like copy and pasted basic buildings etched together.

Then, it falls apart when she mentions her gripes with the story and characters. She doesn’t like how Tommy didn’t have “growth.” A, he’s made to be a psychopath mafioso in an unknown place after a deal gone wrong. His growth came with his independence, sternness and ambition to uncover what went wrong to taking over VC for himself.

His personality fits that GTA action criminal fantasy. He’s calculated, full of rage, ready to go when needed. Any more sympathetic, he’d feel out of place with that sandbox crime formula GTA brings to the table. She barely mention how Vice City is meant to be a homage to the 80s and its media like Miami Vice and Scarface.

Last point, which Vice City did she play? The original or the Definitive Edition?

He's still trying to be relevant? Holy shit this guy's 15 minutes were up in 2015- wtf can he possibly talk about that he hasn't said a million times already?
Prison pasta, casing joints, and 'critiquing' movie heists cannot possibly stay fresh and totally-not-stale for over 10 years.
I also find it funny how despite being an 80s criminal, he has all the contemporary progressive beliefs that the status-quo champions. I'm no criminal but I know enough goons in Jersey and NYC who wouldn't be caught dead saying they don't mind fags, trannies, beaners, niggers, and communists.

She is right the game is massively overrated though.
It's the shortest entry on consoles/PC by a mile (yeah, I know why) and relies heavily on the 80s nostalgia wave it pioneered to carry it to anyone's top 3 GTAs.
It's a great game, but III and SA were better games. What VC has is aesthetics. And Tommy fucking Vercetti

She doesn’t like how Tommy didn’t have “growth.”
- I don't think she realized this game takes place over a few months if not weeks. How much growth can an avowed criminal who's been left for dead then told to kick up to the useless boss back north have?
Tony Montana's story takes place over years and he has fuck-all growth as well. He didn't need it nor want it; he had focus and a goal.

- This game is from a time before every story had to have a three-part arc structure where the protagonist MUST go on a journey of self-discovery. You're not here to help Tommy find himself, you're here to kill Haitians and get rich.

His personality fits that GTA action criminal fantasy.
I disagree to an minor extent. Tommy didn't "fit" in a fantasy, he created it. Every protagonist before him was essentially a gun for hire, some having personal agencies of their own but nothing like Tommy who aspired to take over Vice City rather than settle for being an enforcer/collector/fixer.

Any more sympathetic, he’d feel out of place with that sandbox crime formula GTA brings to the table.
Maybe now you understand why so many people have a bone to pick with Niko and sympathies.
Tommy doesn't want anyone's sympathy either- his one moment of personal emotion is telling Kelly he has a soft spot for printing due to his old man's job.

She barely mention how Vice City is meant to be a homage to the 80s and its media like Miami Vice and Scarface.
You really expect women, even shut-ins like this one, to be in tune with 80s pop culture?

Last point, which Vice City did she play? The original or the Definitive Edition?
I don't think either changes the story nor characters outside of Tommy looking Indian in the defective edition.

The story is intact, but the gameplay experience is different. Actually, I'd argue that the visuals of the DE detract from the whole experience. As people say, it looks like a glorified Simpsons Hit and Run mod at BEST. Let me put it this way: imagine watching a noir movie like Double Indemnity or Touch of Evil in color.

That's a better observation than mine. Now that I think of it, Tommy's desire is his personal agency. Everything that happens in Vice City IS from his doing. You're correct.

I don't see why people have an issue with IV. I think it's one of the best GTAs yet, narratively speaking.

GTA III has the best sandbox I've seen in a video game yet, especially compared to later entries.

TECHNICALLY, you could complete GTA III's story without killing anybody. If you know how the game's logic works or how to break it to your advantage, you could do a lot of tricks. Of course, you'd need the PC version to properly break it.

I think it's absolutely INSANE that how in this GTA Online (an r18+ game) you can get banned from Voice Chat for swearing or saying the n word when there's characters in-game (Franklin) that say it all the time.

I get what you're saying, but that's the least of GTA Online's issues IMHO.

One comment said it best: "PvP is just who can throw the most expensive gadget at each other." It's not even a crime game anymore, it's an anarcho-military exercise. Or something, I don't know.

I kinda like GTA Online but the businesses and shit? Yeah it does not feel like a crime game anymore: it's just Business Owner Simulator. I like the heists, but you have to make a couple million dollars to buy the things to start the modern heists these days.

I'm surprised of how many people have not finished GTA IV's campaign.

My dirty little secret is I never finished the Vice City campaign. I beat San Andreas, IV, and V 2 times a piece though. I should probably fix that. And I never went backwards to III outside of hopping in and bullshitting around for a little listening to music and killing people.
