Maybe I'm missing something but when talking about companies re-releasing games why does no one bring of up Capcom? They've been releasing RE4 since the Gamecube and are now in the process of remaking it.

At least Capcom released those remasters at $20(?), not the full $60 like Rockstar is going to do for the fourth time.

The Wii version of RE4 probably was full price, but that took a significant amount of work to incorporate waggle controls.

In that defense, they've re-released Street Fighter II a number of times. And they've did that for Street Fighter IV (Super, Arcade, Ultra).

Back to GTA, I've never noticed how much detail is in GTA III, a game released near two decades ago.

For instance, that one mission where you have to tail somebody to the docks, you can hijack a taxi and drive him there yourself.

True, though not making the 360 version backwards compatible so Xbox users had to buy it again on the One is a dick move and has rustled me somewhat.

Knowing how hungry for money R* is, it amazes me how little they've done to stop other people from getting rich with multiplayer modifications of their old games.

Like, in SAMP for example there's a server that has been literally scamming little kids for years. They got called out by their own staff member: Video.

Like, 50 euros to become admin? wot

I don't think there's much R* can do since that is a third party modification from an older title.

Still, that is scummy as shit. Somebody should try to sue THEM for all the shady actions they're doing around their activity. Fraud and whatnot. @AnOminous

You think so? I'm not really well-versed when it comes to legal implications. I mean, the thing won't work without the source game. Isn't that enough? Isn't that a way to make money with someone else's work?

But I agree, like they would give a shit about such an obscure community anyways. Sad to see them getting away with it.

Maybe If we could grab people's attention? I could try and get in contact with some game journalists.

That's why I tagged @AnOminous. See if he knows anything about this.

Best of luck. I don't see this gaining traction with everything going on.

Anyway, remember the trench coat guy from GTA 3?

"My mother's my sister" guy.

Somebody discovered that if you use the character change cheat code until you get to his model, the gangs won't attack you.

Oh, would like to know what he thinks about this!

True.

That's interesting! The pinned comment makes a lot of sense, too.

I didn't play Gta III as much as I played VC or SA. Now I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

Test that out and tell us the results.

GTA gets a lot of flask for being a violent, crime drama. The more I analyze the franchise, the more I noticed its progression with popularity and maturity.

Up until San Andreas, the GTA series I would consider tame by today's standards. It was violent, especially during the time when GTA 3 was released but it wasn't vulgar.

GTA 3 had hidden innuendo in its world: Gruppe Sechs, Liberty City Cocks & Beavers, Bitching Dog Food Factory to name a few. But you'd have to pay attention and look around; it wasn't quite in your face. There was "gore", but because of 9/11, it was hidden away via a cheat code on the PS2 version. PC has it on by default.

GTA: Vice City's main premise was inspired by Miami Vice and drugs being handled down South. Also, fun fact: Tommy Vercetti never says "fuck" but uses "prick". Considering his voice actor, Ray Liotta, has a potty mouth. And ethnic rivalries with Cubans & Haitians which sparked controversy at first glance. (Gore was reduced to just headshots because Vice City changed their ped models to a skeletal model.)

San Andreas kicked it up a notch with mature content. The liberal use of the N word, more offensive swears in the script like "cunt", "cocksucker", "motherfucker", Hot Coffee, topical 90s issues such as the CRASH scandal and the LA riots. It pushed the boundaries of what would be acceptable in media.

Subsequently, GTA became more mature with its script, setting and commentary. Liberty City Stories dealt with political corruption and the Internet. Vice City Stories had family issues.

GTA IV lampooned the American Dream, exposing everything wrong with America. Drunk driving, full frontal male nudity and nightclub sleaze. GTA: Chinatown Wars had an economy where you can buy and sell drugs.

GTA V expanded on its satire, with torture being added into the story as political commentary on America's method of interrogation. Merryweather I consider to be a spoof on private security. Women were depicted as walking stereotypes.

I'm still sad that nobody's figured out a way to fix the engine issues the PS2 trilogy has when you play in 60fps. It's small things, like your car always using the hand brake and not being able to swim, but it is something I wish I could fix.

Kind of surprised there’s not that much love for GTA 1 & 2, as well as London 1969.
They’re sort of simplistic and arcade-like in a way, and I kind of like that.
Ask and ye shall receive.

The cover of GTA 1: that's Trump Tower.

GTA 1's theme song is killer. Which was also featured in GTA 3 on the Lips 106 radio station.

I liked how they had an intro movie for GTA 2. Very B-list with good music. Another good intro song.

Another fun fact: Trump Tower was spoofed in GTA IV. As Cleethorpes Tower.

I'm hoping Rockstar can make Grand Theft Auto VI into a good product and not totally gut it via multiplayer like they did with V, but I'm not too optimistic.

If Sam Houser left alongside Dan, I'd be fully convinced Take-Two made them go full Bethesda on this.

Maybe GTA V for the PS5 is meant as a "tide over the fans while we work on GTA VI some more" and that they might put in the cancelled single-player DLC's with that one. But I'm not holding my breath

If they do THAT, then that's a slap in the face to the consumers that bought it on PS3/Xbox 360 & PS4/Xbox One.

What annoys me, and many others, is that GTA V was announced on the PS5 reveal. That reveal was supposed to be for games MADE for PS5.

All the things R* could've done and announced: Red Dead Redemption remake, a new Bully, a new IP. No, they decided to milk GTA V (Online) a second time. A seven year old game. And these consoles are backward compatible, I'd say if you want to keep playing GTA V, just put it in on your new console.

Does it support Smart Delivery or is it another $60 purchase? If it's the latter, that's a ripoff.

Pretty sure they're just selling GTA V with 60 fps unlocked on consoles and nothing else.

Let me tell you Rockstar titles dont look good in 60 fps on PC because all of the fabric physics and some other things are designed to run at 30. So like you'll be playing and suddenly notice that anything that flows in the wind flows slower than it should. And heaven forbid there is a flag on your vehicle cause the second you hit the accelerator it glitches out.

RDR2 is really bad with flame effects looking off and sometimes actual clothing fabric glitches out.

They couldnt be assed to address this on PC even though 4k 60fps was a huge marketing gimmick so I doubt they'll fix it when they unlock 60fps for consoles. Might as well call it frames per dollars now.

The only game they've done that plays remotely fine at 60 fps is Max Payne 3, probably because the series is primarily a PC series above all else so they couldn't half-ass it like they usually do. At the same time, most of the cutscenes play at 30 anyway so the visual glitches aren't so apparent.
